It has a real artstyle, a mature theme and is made by Ubisoft who is not even trying too hard.

It reminds me of Jaques Tardi's stuff which is always a good thing in my book.

I hope Tim Schafer sees this.

This game looks beautiful. Love the art style and animation. Hopefully it has somewhat challenging puzzles and isn't too easy or linear.

Color me interested.

the adventure puzzler is kind of like The Walking Dead.
Hmm, on second thought not so interested.

Valiant Hearts really isn’t much like Walking Dead either. Dialogue is nearly non-existent, with Ubi instead opting to take inspiration from the likes of Machinarium to produce a mixture of audio cues and visual language.
Ok, maybe a little bit interested.

Valiant Hearts: The Great War certainly looks impressive, but the demo only clomped around on the surface of what has the potential to be an extremely deep, nuanced look at a wildly complex subject.
We'll just have to wait and see.

I'm looking forward to this, if only for the art style and setting. Gameplaywise I can't imagine this being anything other than extremely simple, so hopefully it's at least clever enough to stay interesting.

The voiceover is kinda hammy at times but hey, at least this looks pretty different. Good on UbiSoft I say for doing some smaller, interesting games like the new Might & Magic (that was them right?), Child of Light and now this.

I hope this isn't a repeat of Child of Light where the gorgeous art will be the only good thing about it.

There are some nice ideas in gameplay but the game is too simple. No inventory, you pick up an item and you can't pick up another one unless you throw the one you were holding.
Puzzles are not complex, stealth mechanic is atrocious and should be removed. There are some boss fights, nothing fascinating, plain old qte do this or you lose stuff.

Graphics may be 2d but they are great. I explore the levels just to admire the moon and the sky. You also find items unrelated to the game, they have descriptions. You can read them or you can read wikipedia. Not sure where is the fun in that.

Overall a mediocrity, good to pass some time until D:OS.

Your ignore list.
Just played the game and it's total shit. I wouldn't even call it a game, it's more like an interactive story. Every game part is way too simple to even consider this a game.

Look at a game like The Swapper if you want interesting gameplay and puzzles with good atmosphere.

Oh look, a game set in WWI! I wonder if it will be a mature and intelligent take on the conflict...

>Mandatory mopey WWI-is-teh-horrible narrative

>Giant steampunkish zeppelin

OK, I'll pass.

There is gameplay in this game, this is not Walking Dead. Though gameplay is simple.
I liked the art (graphs and musics), the characters speak in their native language and the French tries to sound early 19xx, which makes it nice.
Overall, I liked it very much.

I really disliked this game. I enjoyed the art and overall presentation but the gameplay was terrible. The story had its moments, but mostly it was terrible too.
