Way to fuck up, Hardsuit.
Shrug. Paradox deserves more of the blame than they do honestly.
Hardsuit labs was some shovelware developer. There's a difference between giving people a chance and telling them to make a sequel to a well loved cult classic.

Hardsuit Labs came to Paradox and was headed by Brian Mitsoda. Paradox, having just obtained the WoD license, was enamored with him and signed on given his history with the franchise. However it soon became obvious that he is a mere shadow of his former self and his studio was severely lacking. A mistake they have now corrected and will never make again. The future's lookin' so bright the kindred better stay home for a while.

Imagine fighting so hard on SWJ front in twatter and behind the scenes, to push developers and writers off the team, getting the game entirely in your hands - and then screwing it up so much the game is taken away from you.

Take a guess, how much time will pass before crazies will try to cancel Paradox? I am expecting a few articles down the line, and probably a fake snitch to Schreier blaming it all on "toxic male culture", "white supremacy" and "sexual harassment" to try to bury Paradox, and incite change, like they did in Ubisoft and others.

Make the Codex Great Again! Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. I helped put crap in Monomyth
The delay definitely sucks but at least it's still releasing before ELEX 2 or Elden Ring.

There is no new release date.

Hardsuit getting cut out. Smells like someone missed an important milestone.

I can't wait for the Hardsuit abortion post-mortem. Get Annie VanderMeer to make a VN about it. :takemymoney:

Paradox probably hired them in the first place cos they were cheap. I bet they're regretting that short term cost saving right now.

Paradox owns part of Hardsuit.

Also they are likely doing this because they saw what happened to CDPR and didn't want to make the same mistake.

CDPR should not be the pass that explains and waves away the true problems with this whole scenario.

Paradox and Hardsuit probably were delighted by CDPR and the excuses from CP that gave them some breathing room from their own idiocy and failed pipelines.

The game doesn't need polish, it sounds like it's going to need much, more more to ship... and by "need more" I mean "competent developer."

This fact is also another reason why Paradox are a bumbling collection of idiots.

Bet they wish they hadn't bought part of Hardsuit now.

On the plus side, Paradox can always use Hardsuit as an outsourcer with no creative and game development ideas, they just help other games instead until they grow up and learn game development a few decades from now.

My point is that they didn't want to make the same mistake by a) working on something that is not progressing as they'd like and b) releasing it in such a messy state, both of which would be the end result if they kept working with Hardsuit Labs. They are doing the exact opposite of "delighted by CDPR and the excuses from CP that gave them some breathing room from their own idiocy and failed pipelines." Also there is nothing about the game "just needing more polish" what are you talking about?

BLOODLINES 2 DEVELOPMENT UPDATE

Good morning, everyone

As you have noticed, we’ve been keeping pretty quiet for a while. With this in mind, the first piece of news we have for you is to confirm that Bloodlines 2 is still in development.

Secondly, we have made the hard decision that Hardsuit Labs will no longer be leading the development of Bloodlines 2 - which also means that we will not be releasing in 2021 as previously planned. Since we cannot at this time communicate a new release date, we've also decided to stop accepting pre-orders for the time being.

This game is very important to us and it has been an ambitious project from the very start. In order to meet our goals for it, we’ve come to the conclusion that a change is needed and, as a result, more development time is required.

We’d like to take this opportunity to honor Hardsuit Labs for their efforts and thank them for their hard work on the project. The studio has done a tremendous job in laying the foundations for the game and we hope that you, the community, will also appreciate their contribution to Bloodlines 2.

We’re thankful for your continuous support throughout the game’s development. We understand how important this is to you, and we’d love to share more with you. As soon as we can, we’ll let you know what the future development team of Bloodlines 2 will look like.

I hope to fuck this means they'll be re-doing everything from combat to worldbuilding. All of the gameplay footage we got from Hardsuit looked like boring mash LMB2win trash with disciplines just thrown in as an afterthought, and the overly modern locations had absolutely none of the neo-gothic aesthetic VTM:B is known for. I severely doubt it'll happen but if Paradox is handing development over to another studio I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they hire a new art director and dedicate all of their time to fixing combat until the devs understand what makes the world of VTM feel like VTM and adjust the setting accordingly.
