First-person dungeon crawlers, once ubiquitous after the success of Legend of Grimrock, seem to have taken a back seat in recent times. Fans of the genre will be pleased to learn that Vaporum: Lockdown, the prequel to steampunk-themed dungeon crawler Vaporum announced last year by developer Fatbot Games, will be out on September 15th. The game was originally supposed to launch in early 2020, but was delayed for the usual reasons. There are some cool things going on in its release date trailer:

Vaporum: Lockdown will be launching on both Steam and GOG, with Mac/Linux and console releases coming later. For more details, you might want to catch up on Fatbot's development blog, where they've been posting various screenshots, lore updates and even a level design contest over the past year.

vaporum was fun. combat wise was better than any of the grimrock games, but dungeons was lacking (only compared to grimrock, but they are fine on their own)
