While I work on my on finishing the game for a seocnd time then make my review official, I decided to do this shit...

If you loathe DA1 to begin with, I expect nothing but 'you are dumb' comments so do not dissapointment. If you liked DA1 depsite any flaws it may have, check out this thread.

Either way, let's have some fun!

My ideal sequel for DA is probably too expansive for BIo to even attempt thoguh I wish they would. I don't think BIO has the inlincation to do what my ideal D2 would be. It's wishful thinking.

1. It would START with a new PC, and have various origins just as in DA1.

2. Depending on your choices in DA1, and early on in DA2, you'd have the potential to meet and even recruit your DA1 PC - due to my planned plot, this would be possible for story reasons even if your PC sacrificed himself in DA1.

3.On top of this, depending on choices in the game, there might actually be a potential for the DA2 main PC to die, and you would continue to play with the DA1 PC as your 'main'.

4. It would be set 25 years after the end of DA1.

5. Planned Origins: Dwarf Noble, Dwarf Commoner, Dwarf Citizen (other dwarf city, can't recall name), City Elf, dalish Elf, Tower Mage, Outcast Mage, Human Noble, and 3 origins for the other countries (I think they are Tevinter, Sten's, and Zevran's).

6. Returning Characters From DA1 That Are Party Recruitable: Sten, Leliana, Shale/Ogrhren (BUT AS A GOLEM FOR STORY REASONS!, only one or the other)& Morrigan.

7. Morrigan's Blood Ritual Baby (no longer a baby though, obviously) would play a huge role in the game.

8. The last two archdemons would make appearances.

9.The last encounter could be one of 6 different possibilities.

10. Rogue would be cut, and there' just be Warrior & Mage classes.

11. Some New Specializations: Grey Warden, Runemaster (dwarf only), Nature Magist (elf only), Tower Mage

12. There'd be a 3rd line of classes, but this would not only require certain class combinations, and stats, but would not be easy to get.

Example: Melicar (or whatever those really evil mages are called). You would need to be a Tower Mage who gets the Blood Mage specialziation AND betrays your tower in order to minimally qualify for it.

So, it looks like this: Mage = Tower Mage + Blood Mage = Melicar

13. Major side quests would include a (potential) war between the two remaining dwarf cities, dalish elves rediscovering their old magics (hence Nature Magist), &really getting down and dirty learning ALL the real nasty grey Waden secretes, and boy, some of them are NASTYYYYYYYYYY.

14. Major quests would include the two archdemons, dealing with the aftermath of Morrigan's Blood Ritual, Learning What Happened To the PC Grey Warden from DA1.

15. DA2 main PC would NOt have to be a GW but with it being added as a specialization plus some story specific stuff that's cool for them, they'd definitely be worthy of choosing.

16. New Monsters are: Darkspawn (Troll, Blood Wyvern), Giants (various types)

17. New talents, and skills of course. Also, rogue stuff would be shared/split up between the two remaining classes.

18. Major choices in DA that would effect DA2 in some way (usually major): Dwarven King + Anvil, PC sacrificed/did not sacrifice himself, Feraldin throne situation, any romances (even though Zevran isn't in DA2, a romance with him has interesting story to be told in the game so those people won't be left out), Morrigan Blood Ritual choice, & The Urn.

19. The Epic Finale sets up DA3 nicely with a potential for THAT sequel to seque into the mystery of the Black City, and the Maker Myth.

20. Potential DA2 New Recruitable NPCs: A Demon, Dog (human)/Deep Road Ox - whatever it is called (Dwarf)/Fancy Dalish Deer (elf), Tevinter Mage, and more...

I may as well follow suit and cross-post my own thoughts on a sequel from ITS:

Spoiler tagged, since it goes into a decent amount of detail regarding the various ending choices of DA.

Ideally, the sequel could account for all possible endings, but since we live in reality, even post-EA Bioware has budget limitations, some assumptions regarding the ending will have to be made.

For the most interesting story, we'd be going with Morrigan performing the ritual with Alastair (to account for the possibility of a female PC in DA1/2), Loghain being executed during the Landsmeet, and Alastair ruling as King with Anora as Queen.

So, with that setup, we start DA2 almost 11 years after DA1, with the same PC.  The PC's actions since DA1 largely depend on ending choices, but regardless of where they are, they eventually learn of the Big DA2 Starting Plot Point: Orlais is under  an usually organized assault from the Darkspawn.  All signs point to a Blight, though so far no Archdemon has been appointed.  The Warden ends up in Orlais to investigate - either because they are still pursuing Morrigan, their wandering took them their, or they are asked to by King Alastair.

Alastair has begun to show signs that his Taint is already catching up with them - perhaps due to the nature of the ritual with Morrigan - and his behavior has been erratic at best.  Though this is mostly hidden from the public, he begins to suspect Orlais is lying about the Darkspawn attacks in order to lure Ferelden forces there and ambush them - echoes of Loghain.  So, no official Ferelden aid has been sent.

Most, or all, of the game, takes place in Orlais.  Early-on it is discovered that this isn't a Blight, but that the Darkspawn are being drawn to Morrigan's child just as they are drawn to the Old Ones under the surface.  They do not realize the difference - an Old One's soul is an Old One's soul - and so the capital city of Orlais is under siege.  After the events of the first game, Morrigan became an advisor to the Empress of Orlais (a nod to one of the endings, where you choose NOT to perform the ritual - that is where Morrigan ends up), and her child - now 10 years of age, but unaware of what they truly are - has become the new beacon for the Darkspawn.

Obviously the Warden can't simply kill the child, because otherwise it would be a very short game, so we have to assume that killing the child without proper preparation would just unleash an angry Old One spirit upon the world.  For now, at least, it's better for everyone that the Old One is trapped inside of an unknowing child, and travels with the Warden's party - at least until they figure out what else can be done.

Meanwhile, in the north, there are rumors that the Quinari have returned in full-force, and at the head of their armies, a familiar face - the same Quinari who traveled
with the famous Warden.

Eventually, the child's personality could be replaced with the Old One's - perhaps through the Warden's actions - giving the Warden the chance to learn more about the truth behind their imprisonment and exile, the Darkspawn, the Maker, etc.  The way the Warden treats the child throughout the game could greatly impact what happens when the Old One emerges, as well, thus perhaps ending in at least two separate end-games - one with the Old One as the final villain, or one where the Old One helps the Warden deal with something else entirely.  The choice of what to do with the Old One - save or destroy - could lead to the player losing as much as half the party, at best long before the actual end of the game.

This is the basic setup I would probably go with, if I had the Ultimate Power.  There are many ways the plot could go from here - does the Warden attempt to destroy the Old One - still a child, unaware (supposedly) of its true nature?  Or does the Warden instead try to find a place to protect the child?  Does Flemeth make an appearance, using her dragon form to inspire fear that this is a Blight and she is the Archdemon, in an attempt to wrestle the child away from her wayward daughter?  How does the impending Quinari invasion fit in with everything?  Could the Warden perhaps even side with the Quinari, believing they are the best hope for protecting the Old One, defeating the Darkspawn, and actually bringing peace to Orlais and Ferelden?

I would like to see some of the other DA1 decisions factor in, even if it's not in huge ways.  Did the Warden free the mages and create an independent circle?  Was the Urn of Sacred Ashes found?  How close was the Warden with Sten before he left and returned at the head of an invasion army?  These could definitely have some consequences in DA2.

Additional focus on the spirits of the Fade - good and bad - would be best.  The Demons of the Fade are way more interesting than the Darkspawn, and should be treated as such.  The Darkspawn should be little more than the driving factor behind the Warden's actions in the opening of the game, and the continuing need to keep the Old One out of their hands until it emerges from the child.

I would definitely avoid bringing in another Archdemon.  Been there, done that.  Perhaps the Old One would seek to revive its surviving siblings without the Darkspawn's corrupting the influence, as part of its End Game plan.  This could be in the Warden's best interest, too - no more sleeping Old Ones means no more Blights, ever.  But what could the cost be?

Woah lad, we're getting ahead of ourselves. We should know by now 75% of development time is spent coming up with a name for the sequel, which you FAILED to do.

4. It would be set 25 years after the end of DA1.

Why this specific number?

6. Returning Characters From DA1 That Are Party Recruitable: Sten, Leliana, Shale/Ogrhren (BUT AS A GOLEM FOR STORY REASONS!, only one or the other)& Morrigan.

Bioware tends to rehash their characters, so this would probably be their best alternative.

17. New talents, and skills of course.

They would never do that! NEVER!

If I had it my way, I would add some way for the universes of DA and Mass Effect to intertwine...

Oh wait, they did that already with Blood Dragon Armor.

needs other playable races. i'm so fed up with dworfs who liek fiting and elfs who use bows and humans who are humans with their boring looks and abilities.

hows that: a ragtag group of demons are bored out of their gourd, posses a few mages and have a jolly good time until [plot]. or maybe, i don't know, never actually leave the fade because jesus christ i'm sick of the same shit being fed to me. i want to see a fantastic world filled with alien and interesting creatures, plants, ideas, religions. the least they could do is deliver on the interesting part.

i like your companion ideas, but whatever, never happening except maybe in user created content. fuck, i'm hoping for a bastard of kosignan-like da module. that would be heavan.

I would like if DA2 didn't feature barkspawn because they seemed quite lame, but that's impossible because BW have put too much focus on the Grew Wardens in the gameworld and their main goal is to defeat the barkspawn. It would be more cool if the main plot revolved more around political intrigue. Obviously there has to be some kind of a huge threat to the Ferelden. It would be cool if Orlesians would try invade Ferelden again or something like that.

In fact it would be cooler if those Sten's people (quinari ???) tried to invade Ferelden. Your main quest would be to resolve this conflict how you want it (on the battlefield or through diplomacy). You would have one of the DA1 NPCs in your party and you would meet Sten on the battlefield. NPCs from DA1 would recognize him and so on. You could accept Sten into your party (or kill him if you want) and he would help to achieve peace with his people.

I want DA3 to end with you reigning as God King of Mankind. Who will sit upon a golden throne and guard mankind from Chaos and the Dark Gods er The Veil and the Old Gods.

(Yes I took your advice whoever you were.)

Also I pray(not literally) for a module like A Dance with Rogues or Almraiven for Dragon Age.

"So basically, more like Baldur's Gate 2?"

Has very little in common with BG2, sorry.

Sillek: Still like your idea. Can definitely live with that.

"Good to know that you only minorly soil yourself when playing DA, Volly."

No game is perfect. Not DA. Not FO. Not BG2. Not PST. Just NWN1. But, that's the exception that proves the rule.

"Why this specific number?"

30ish years is about the time where Grey Wardens start to lose their shit. This would tie into the DA1 PC's role in the game as well as Alistair.

"We should know by now 75% of development time is spent coming up with a name for the sequel, which you FAILED to do."

Let's call it DA2: Rebirths ... Yeah, kinda silly but fitting in more than way much like DA:O was.

"needs other playable races."

Did include other 'races'. Quinarii are humanish but I don't think they're actually human.

"I would like if DA2 didn't feature barkspawn because they seemed quite lame, but that's impossible because BW have put too much focus on the Grew Wardens in the gameworld and their main goal is to defeat the barkspawn."

I think the barkspawn and Grew Wardens should be in DA2 or we might as well call it soemthing else and have the game set in Thedas. There's too much cool stuff that can be done with them.

I don't understand - why remove the only decent class from the game?

Says the person with emotional in his name. I've done somethings in the past that I'm sure your not comfortable with, yes. But that doesn't mean it defines me, nor should it. A person is the sum of his or her acts on earth and the lessons he learned from them.

Just because I've dated a man in the past does not mean that I am going to go out and fuck 7 guys by next tuesday. Just because I have read manga in the past doesn't mean I still read it now. I'm knowledgeable about allot of things. And what makes you think I'm a weeaboo? Is it the fact that I have read manga in the past. To which I would call you a pussy assed, pale skinned, basement dwelling nerd who probably lives with his mother. For ever playing DnD or table top games.

I'm the kind of person where if people around me are talking about something and recommending it. I'll likely check it out. The only manga I have ever read are classified as seinin. Age 16 and up only basically where as shonen is 9-14. I've never read naruto or one piece or any of the legions of shojo manga. I don't watch anime as I find the voices to be annoying in all but a few. In fact the only anime I could consistently recommend would be FLCL mostly because it reminds me of the loony toons put on guitars, porn, rock music, and LSD. Oh and dead leaves because it reminds me of FLCL watching a parody of itself while hopped up on shrooms as well as LSD.

On another note, roll-a-die, you are disappointing me. We are Codexians here, if you like to read manga, go read manga. If you want to watch anime, go watch anime. If you want to play jrpg, go play them. Why would you justify yourself or show off your manga knowledge here anyway? As Black Cat found out, Codexians simply doesnt appreciate manga even if it bite them in the nose.

Needed improvements:

#1) A six person party.
#2) More spell casting classes - or at least more diverse specialty classes. Having only 4 spells for each specialty class makes the all the casters feel the same. If each major spell grouping was limited to a specific specialization it would help. Of course they would need to greatly expand the spell list to do that.
#3) A six person party.
#4) A more diverse creatures list. If they keep the ones they had for this game (30 or so) then add 30-40 more it would certainly be better.
#5) A six person party.
#7) Individual weapon classes that require training.

Story wise we are going to get another BioWare epic no matter what so there is no point arguing about it.

I was merely trying to prove a point that while most manga are crap there are a few gems. In general they suck but there are exceptions that prove every rule. Kind of like the guys that fall 18,000 feet and get up and walk away. Whereas normally you be put into a bodybag.

I don't disregard anything off the bat as shit. I will attempt it and if I find it shit I will move on. Which is why you haven't seen many posts, by me about Dragon Age and how it was good at the beginning. But like getting blown by a hooker with aids. It will lead to a lifetime of shame by the end. I try to focus on the good of things rather than the bad. Shin Megami Tensei(Non persona SMT's), good games. Disgaea burn the J-RPG heathen for all I care. Final Fantasy, after it went 3-d with the possible exception of 9, kill it with fire.

There are good games in every genre. There are terrible games in every genre. For every good RPG, say PS:T that seems to be a standard good RPG for the codex. I'd say there two bad ones. In the case of JRPG's it's more for every good one we're gonna put out 30 more somewhat like it with minor variations. In fact the most well known comparison to SMT. Pokemon came six years after SMT was released. 9 years after Megami Tensei. I take great pleasure in explaining that to everyone who I show SMT to. The common comment is "Oh that's just Pokemon reskined." "Wait this came out in 1992." "1987 huh."

I'd have to rut around to find the Ur-example of the catch monster use monster in fight type games. But megami tensei is right near the top.

Also last I checked this was RPGCodex not W-RPGCodex or Fallout arcanum planescape er FAPCodex.

Maybe I should start ending my post with a disclaimer.

Something like

(The opinions expressed within the previous post are opinion only and are not indicative of the codexian hivemind)

P.S. Don't believe me about the fall survivor http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicholas_Alkemade , bitch.

DA2: Premature Birth needs to have an even greater variety of named corpses, or perhaps utilize a combination of their names, producing even more variety!
