Yeah, I'm rather interested in those that play and document these devices and worlds. So, I'm watching vids in this. I guess some VR setups can get pretty spendy. Will this become more and more of a norm? Should codex have a VR room?

This was interesting:

VR is definitely good. It gives active gameplay experiences you couldn't come close to in any other format. It looks absolutely amazing if you're playing the right game. It has been the only time i've been "blown away" by a vidyagame in many years. Just grab yourself a PC link cable so you're not beholden to the Oculus store, assuming you are going for a Quest.

With all these new headsets being released, i'm cautiously optimistic that it will get gradually better over the years, both the devices and games. The different between the original Quest and the Quest 2 is like night and day.

I would like to vote:

Who gives a shit?

As 99% of people don't give a shit however, I voted:-

It is BAD

Because I had to do development with it at work, and I hated every moment. It(Varjo-2) was a total PITA to work with, made me feel sick, and was a constant source of head aches. Before I just didn't give a shit but after that project I developed a deep hatred for "VR" or "AR" or headset related. I don't know why anyone would want to spend hours sweating into these face huggers. You look like a prick and feel like a total prick wearing one.

Oooohhh! You just hit a fucking new market! CUSTOM MOD VR SETS! I mean ones that look like anything from masks on the outside, to facehuggers, head crabs, to placing your face through big booba, butts, cooch, or w/e. Obviously you can see the outside but someone entering the room can. I think a big mini waifu lag hugging your face might look odd but w/e makes the cash.

And what about comfort kn the inside and the suits/gloves/etc to monitor exact movements? I bet this shit could expand pretty big fast. Then ya'll can play gamedec 2.0 the VR edition.

It'll take off once they invent a headset that doesn't make you look like a dork.
Facebook's shitty Quest2 sold over 15 million units, outselling both the Xbox X/S combined: https://www.thevirtualreport.biz/da...-vr-headset-outsells-xbox-series-xs-consoles/

I don't really count this as "good news", since it will just mean more Mobileshit Shovelware designed for Facebook's Walled Garden as opposed to the kind of Top of the line AAA games we had been getting in 2020 on PC, but some of you people need to define what you mean with "take off".

Only a complete retard would worry how a "HMD makes him look", since you're going to mainly use it in the privacy of your own home and not wear it out on date night or at work (unless your job requires VR, I guess). I don't know of anyone that worries how playing a video game in their underwear or baggy pajama at home "makes them look". It's a non-argument. How heavy or comfortable it is wearing it for an extended period of time for instance is much more important.

15M sounds like a cooked number to me. Even if it were true, it's still far below the sales for consoles who weren't a failure.

And yes, not looking like a dork is important for most people who don't live alone. Unlike you I look great in underwear.

Its 15 million sales in two years. The PS4 (which is considered one of the most successful consoles) sold about 22 million units in that time. Xbox doesnt sell too well right now because of supply shortages.

I assume Oculus gets a cut anytime someone buys a game from the store, and I wonder how big a percentage of their revenue that is.

I bought a Oculus VR to play the new Half Life but I played that for 10 minutes and instantly put porn on it and it used it much more on that. When I gave it to my nephew I forgot to remove the porn and he got an eye full I bet.

I voted for both. I see its potential but I also see that its potential will never fully be realized.
As long as you have people designing terrible interfaces for VR we're going to be stuck with novelty games and roller coasters.
The expensive barrier to entry combined with short user times due to VR sickness means it's not the most viable market to get into.

Really, Misty wants to fuck Ash so bad but Ash is too gay for Pikachu. Brock is astonished but in full perv mode as usual. Misty is having none of it. She's over pokemon... it seems.

I was playing a failing MMO called Dual Universe, and rather than let the company die, the CEO decided to change the game company into a Metaverse VR 3D blogging company, and keep charging the kickstarter backers for an annual subscription with no plan to actually upgrade the game.

It's kinda amusing, but for a smart CEO to go all in on VR 3D blogging like that has really opened my eyes to the possibilities of the metaverse.
