Nonsense. Some of the greatest RPGs have blank party members you create yourself. More party members is better because it means you get more character customization to play with and more interesting combat.

Six is a good number because you need four to cover all the mandatory bases (melee, thief, priest and ranged dps) so the extra two gives you room to try wierd shit.

With four you gonna make a lot of experimentation impossible since you need the basics and that means you'll make the same characters every time.

Here is my bingo, I expect:
- Tons of classes that are barely distinguishable or 2-3 classes.
- Black companions that are absolutely goodie good incarnates and philosophers thinking about the meaning of life itself, while white companions are evil.
- Annoying NPC guiding you around
- Walls of text with lot of bloat
- Bloated enemies in the end game and the player being op starting from act 2 dealing insane damage
- Turn-based combat ending in one turn full of trash mobs
- Environment checks that are piss easy.
- LGBT propaganda pushed down your throat
- broken on release with incomplete combat system and unfinished last act
- Stable release will happen 3 years after initial release.

It's Warhammer, everyone is evil or looking for themselves Also Jae was a ''POC'' companion and a self service smuggler, a desserter and in her romance leaks your sex tape for the crew.. While Heinrix and Ulfar were some of the nicest people in your party.

In-setting they're specifically super hot psuedo-french space nuns generally without vows of celibacy. And big into S&M.

For whatever reason Owlcat decided to make her (Argenta) a non-sexable character, so everyone fucked the fishwaifu instead.

More party members is better because it means you get more character customization to play with and more interesting combat.

If I wanted to play a fully customizable party I would play a generic proc-gen roguelike as Battle Brothers or one of the hundreds of clones of that genre on Steam. Not a story-focused RPG with full voice acting, companion quests which give personal XP, character progression, items, lore details, new locations with ALL optional interactions they might have in the 80 hours the whole thing is going to last.

And I don't understand how anyone can believe having shit companions is a good thing because "akshually, you can replace them with generic slates!". When one of the main selling points of RPGs since forever is you can travel around with crazy barbarians, pretty elves, and grumpy dwarves who have interesting personalities. Sounds like an excuse to the inclusion of insufferable characters who are shoved in the player's face.
