Inxile Entertainment is hiring designers for Wasteland 2 or couldn`t it be less obvious?
Take a look at the latest job offering:
wasteland23t7a.jpg

That looks promising!
(untill we see the first screens)

Also notice the concept art on the upper right corner.
Finally something to look forward to?

What's with the "You need to have been in the industry for X years!!!!" in every single of these job offers?

Why do they have to use the word "next generation"? Whatever this is is prolly gonna suck.

The magic words they are, usually mean " also for xbawx and Sony's blue ray player".
At least it's confirmed the game will have "branching dialogues". What a relief.

They're used to discourage fanboy and amateur applications, which would otherwise swamp the selection process. In practice, the requirement is not enforced.

Agreed. It's pretty much standard practice. They DO expect a certain level of experience that roughly equates to that, though, because of elements like familiarity with tools, working in a team, and pay scale. I suppose if you came to them with everything they needed and radiating pure awesome they'd care less about how much experience you had, but it IS something they pay attention to.

Interesting that they're aiming for years experience rather than games published. I very much think the former is a better yardstick for skill, as I know plenty of amazing designers who have maybe 1 or 2 games published because projects they've been on have been canned. Is very sad.

I also have friends in that area who should know about this posting...

Wasteland 2 will be crap.
See the one and only InXile game.

Thats my expectation as well [dumb console rpg]. I would truly love to see them prove us wrong however.

They made a flash game about drawing lines and the 2004 Bard's Tale. If I was interested in bringing Wasteland 2 to life, I would be more concerned about their experience.

Well, they've got Jason D. Anderson. Of course, it's going take more than one great designer to make a good game, but at least they've got somebody who knows how to actually make an RPG.

In the German market (which should be interesting for you) job offers are often full of bullshit in any industry. Not only to discourage nerds. There is a fear of being sued for discrimation or some such if they don't take somebody who would have fulfilled the requirements. So they make the requirements artificially high to be in a position to take or not take applicants without having to justify themselves. You should always keep that in mind. BTW, are you finished with your Abi? Any plans?

Yes. And Bryan Fargo is the head of the company.

Faran Brygo.

And I also fear the worst. It just comes naturally after so many...failures. That Bards Tale travesty does not speak well for anything wonderful either.

I wonder if they have contacted Bill Dugan, Alan Pavlish and the rest.

Finished this year. No plans yet. Gotta do 9 months of forced labour (Zivildienst) first, then I'll think about what to study. Working as a translator for games would be interesting.

There's been talk of Wasteland 2 for a long time.

I wonder if they'd hire me with 25 years of game playing, a love of Wasteland and a couple of degrees in English?

Shoot off an email and see what they say. The worst they can do is send a lithuanian hitman to your door, so nothing to lose really.

This has the potential to be a bigger disaster than Fallout 3.
