Fargo should have put the Mac version at 1.8mil, they're use to paying more for stuff. :smug:
 And linux should be free! Also, the users should compile the game themselves!
You clearly aren't a Linux user because, if you were, you would know that that's exactly what Linux users would like to be able to do.

All this kickstarter talk has made me think long and hard how awesome a Wizardry 9 project with DWB would be...

A man can dream.

I'm not impressed about Fargo's talk about possibly releasing an iOS version if it goes over a certain amount of money. That's just pure profit for them, I don't want to be paying for a shitty iPad version. Not to mention there might be compromises made so that it will be the same experience on both PC and iOS.

:decline:

I hope he changes his mind on that.

Make sure to post that on the inXile forum.

The game is funded, now, only two things remain:

1) Fight the good fight against the popamoles and Bioware drones. Drown out their bad ideas with good ones. Call them out, and explain the decline in your own words.

Vote ideas up or down, or write your own suggestions on the official WL2 Google mod forum: http://www.google.com/moderator/#16/e=1f7176

Show the popamoles no quarter (with well reasoned arguments) on the inXile forum: http://wasteland.inxile-entertainment.com/forum/index.php

2)

I can't believe that morons that play current gen "rpgs" are interested in what should be "our" wasteland. FFS! Can't we have one proper rpg in 5 years or more, before some moron starts shouting romance or some other shit. There are a dozen rpgs that cater to them. Fargo should be very careful with this, and only take limited input from our glorius Codex and maybe NMA. And he should look up to Fallout and Jagged Alliance 2 in some aspects and design his own damn vision of the game. I also don't like the iOS idea, if it means ANY changes for the PC master version. :rpgcodex:

I know, I use both linux and windows. It's still not "normal" for the average user, just like it's not "normal" to pay more for the same hardware+"magic". ;)

and maybe NMA.

Don't hate, bro. Besides he's in direct contact with BroNone.

Anyway, anybody else see this? http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/0...ture-of-game-publishing-an-interview-with-br/

The resistance from publishers ranged from absolute indifference to not knowing what I was talking about. I would speak quite enthusiastically about how great party-based RPGs were and that there was little competition, but I might as well have been pitching 4D tic-tac-toe.

I want this game to be comfortable for either a Wasteland or Fallout 1/2 player to be able to step into like a comfortable pair of shoes. Obviously the graphics need to be updated and will have different combat systems etc. but there is a tone, stats, and interface that comes with the RPGs from that era. People are very clear about wanting THAT experience and none of this "re-imagining" business.

We already have the forums up and will be using them primarily for the broad strokes, but if we see some clever specific ideas we will integrate them. Nothing is in stone yet and the fan input is key. Some people have raised concern that it will be a free-for-all, but my job is to act as the editor and help to harness the ideas and serve up the appropriate decisions. I have the writers and designers scoping out the locales and dialogue, but we will greatly rely on input for interface, combat system depth, and graphical tone. But once things are agreed we stay consistent with the consensus of direction. It is no different than when I used to make my producers create vision documents at Interplay, only this time the fans will sign off on the vision. On top of this we will open up gameplay for feedback to make sure we are hitting the right notes.

Guys, don't fret. This will alleviate your fears (and mine):

Will there be a way for fans to submit ideas on what they'd like to see in the game, or is the foundation already established?

The goal for the Wasteland 2 project is $900k to get the game started, combined with a $100k investment from you, for a total of $1M. Amazingly enough (but not surprisingly), that $900k goal was reached after less than two days. Do you have plans set up for what you'll focus on expanding first if the funded amount goes to $2M? $3M? Beyond?

Assuming we go way beyond the goal we will continue to balance adding more content and other formats. We have already committed to Linux/Mac at $1.5 million so I imagine there could be a tablet version after that. But the most important thing is that we don't compromise the PC version in any way shape or form for other formats. The fans have entrusted us to create the right kind of game. This truly was the best way for this game to have been funded.

Also lots of herping and derping about romances. I’ll take my wasteland romance in $50 installments in the ally behind the bar thank you very much.

And people need to stop responding to that falloutgod13 guy. Trolls are going to troll.

If Fargo listens to the romancefags I will personally track him down and paint his face blue with household paint!

Codex feelin' all sorts of proud. Just got props from one of the senior producers regarding NMA, The Order and their official boards. They're listening, dudes. Keep talking.

They have a poll up asking people what they want if funding continues:
http://wasteland.inxile-entertainment.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=336&start=30

Do your duty and go vote for a Mod Kit.

edit: Damn grammer. How does it work?
It seems as though these official polls have been a lot more influential and important to the team than the miscellaneous bullshit people post there. Everyone should do their duty and vote on these things.

I personally voted for "expanded world" and the modkit.

Wait. They only need 1,5 year to make Wasteland 2 to happen? Damn, they had to have most of the work already done.
