I think Brian's on crack. He's acting like some kind of rabid codex/anon hybrid. His reputation amongst publishers is ruined forever.

But goddamn, i love that man!

He doesn't need publishers to make the games he really likes if this works out. That's why he is so excited...it's like he just got freed from video game slavery. If this turns out to be even a modest success with sales beyond kickstarter, he can roll a bit into the next project and kickstart his next game needing less money this time.

Fuck publishers, those faggots only ruined gaming anyway.

In all seriousness, I wouldn't be surprised if he's tweeting while drunk. :smug:

I think mr. Fargo should make another Wasteland 2 kickstarter video, soon. To reassure us some more, and to troll the gaming industry some more. :D And of course, to liven up the donations... ;)

Also, regarding tablets/phoneshit: "That seems to be the consensus but no way will I make any compromises for the PC platforms anyway."

You know I just realized what a great idea the Codex fund was. Donating directly to the kickstarter page just gives them your money, but donating to the codex is also sort of endorsing a harcore Codex game without the bromances and Sims features that a significant minority on the forums are begging for. It's a way of saying, "I am donating for a game like this". Unfortunately I want the box and beta version (so I can complain about stuff that sucks) and I don't think I can afford to donate to both, but I like the idea of emphasizing a particular kind of game along with the monies.

Kickstarter + Fargo's anti publisher rants + MCAs big reveal = MASSIVE :incline: Possibly the greatest day in CRPG history.

If nothing else, change is in the air. And given the way things have been going for the last 10 years, that can only be a good thing.

MCAs big reveal

You referring to the Metacritic debacle? If so, how is Obsidian's misfortune :incline: ?

The misfortune is :decline: but revealing the nature of man is :incline:

Keep in mind that MCA is a very smart guy, so letting the cat(shit) out of the bag(bowels) on precisely this day was a very smart move. It was a necessary evil so to speak. Fuck the publishers that ruined our hobby. That's the basic gist of the day I think.

Because publishers will abandon them, they will liberate themselves and go Kickstarter!

Agreed. No need to keep it real. Shit's already gonna be void of the 50's fallout charm(for good reason). Might as well go all out as long as it's fun and well written.

As long as it's well-written and the entire game isn't just a total fuck-fest of ZANY! then I'm putting my trust in these guys to use their best discretion. Wasteland was great. Do it again, lads.

Well Wasteland IS sci-fi. There are various crazy sci-fi robots, laser weapons, locations, and even the fabled power armor. Could be interesting. If I recall correctly, in original Wasteland in some part of the game, you enter guys mind. So, why not, if it will fit seamlessly. I'm sure there will be crazy and interesting locations, if they stay faithful to the original Wasteland. I'm only hoping they don't overdo it, because all the pop culture references and jokes ruined a bit my Fallout 2 experience, and I still prefer Fallout 1. I'm more for a serious note, but in moderation, it would be interesting to have some weird shit in the game. :)

This is so surreal. It's like I'm back in time or something. I keep catching myself getting distracted from the things I SHOULD be doing and just spamming f5, staring at that Kstarter page and smiling my fucking ass off.
