We Need A Space Under Our Avatars to Include Our Pronouns

We need a space under our avatars to include our pronouns. We could replace Location, which no one uses anyway, or just add one. Reasons to do this:

-There are lots of trans Codexers, and even some that were semi-famous porn stars, and this would be a nice way to make them feel welcome.
-I don't know which pronouns other Codexers use, so it would be helpful.
-Codex is known on the internet as a right-wing haven for racists and homophobes, which regardless of your political positions, isn't a great thing for the long term viability of the website. It would be a good way to signal that the administration here doesn't necessarily endorse what many of the forums' members use the forums to espouse. I try to defend Codex as much as possible and let people know that we aren't all racist, gay hating, transphobes, but it's really difficult to do so when anyone can come here and take a screenshot of a bunch of thread titles with racial and trans slurs in the titles.
-No one would have to use it if they didn't want to, so no one would have right to complain.
-It would really piss resetera off. They don't have spaces for people to share pronouns.

Getting bored, are we?

I'm dead serious.
No you aren't.
Yes I am. I'm sick of seeing thread titles with racial slurs and other shit. We could at least keep that to the inside of threads. There are several users here who are literally only here because they are allowed to say the n word and use trans/gay slurs. Codex admin needs to decide at some point what they want to actively endorse. What I'm suggesting would be an easy way for them to suggest that they don't necessarily endorse what their users espouse.

Most normal people aren't going to want to post here because they'll likely be terrified of being fired if they are doxed. And developers definitely aren't going to want to post here when the racism and homophobia are so blatant. It wasn't like this when I joined back in 2012. At some point, the reputation of the forum got out and started attracting racists and homophobes, so it's a self-perpetuating cycle.

Aren't there enough websites where your ilk gets to dictate who can say what, where and when? And worse yet, you want pronouns on top..?
Are you an inanimate fucking object? 'Cause last i checked, "it" dictates just that.
Most folks here don't give a damn about what offends you; in fact, they probably get a kick out of it. Why not find some safe space forum embracing "diversity" and "self-identifying" and stick to it?

You fucking Spic.
You wish we were homophobic, that would be easy for you, wouldn't it. I bet you have the "psychology" all worked out in your collective heads for that.
How about mere preference, you excrement-coloured shitskin? Preference. We prefer our own.
More so in the last two decades, when fucktards like you think they can dictate just because they can whine louder, until they drown out all else.
And thus from preference, here we are, driven to passionate, active dislike. Because you won't shut the fuck up, even where it's none of your business. Like here, now.

Now go cook a burrito or something for minimum wage.
Remember to have your Visa with you.

I don't want to dictate anything. I've always been under the impression that this website was a "free speech zone," not a white supremist website where video games are just a flimsy pretext for people to espouse their racism and homophobia. I'm just suggesting ways that Codex might attract a wider demographic of user, as opposed to just racist & homophobic 30-55 year old men. If Codex wants to be the video game subforum of Stormfront, that's fine, but it's going to become increasingly more Stormfront as the years go on, all while it becomes increasingly irrelevant to the industry.

Just stay out of the politics forums if the communists and the nazi larpers bother you. You won't lose anything.

The problem is that it's not just in the politics forums. It's everywhere.

How would public pronouns help solve that?

I honestly don't think the pronouns are necessary. Once a person clarified how it wants to be addressed it is fine. Pronouns selection was a thing put up for those fragile people that don't want to even allow someone to missgender them. They are forced unnecessary and they don't represent anything. I may agree that some people log in to the codex only to sperg and lash out and some of them don't bring any contributions to the site however again this is the codex free speech should be allowed. The lack of education of some individuals is a whole different matter.

That's all very interesting, but how do pronouns change this?

The day that pronouns are required here is the day that I leave permanently.

Feel free to quote this once it happens.

Crispy, no one is talking about requiring pronouns. Just having an optional field for them. 95% of people don't fill out the location field.
THen what is the point of putting them in?

Because people could include them if they want. I would.
THe problem is the people that you want to include and usually care about this thing are the same that often force their view on others and actively censor stuff. I am not sure i want such people here.

It won't, necessarily, it would just be an easy way to send the message that Codex is a true free-speech zone where people of all backgrounds are welcome.

I don't force my views on anyone. I'm an oldschool liberal.

How about you simply include whatever pronoun you prefer to be referred to as in your own signature? Or in your existing profile details? It does ask for gender there, you know.

OH, WAIT! THERE ARE ONLY TWO OF THEM INCLUDED AND AN OPTION TO NOT SPECIFY! HOW CAN THIS BE?

I don't see the problem, Carlo already found a way to let us know his pronouns by using the Location field, obviously, if other people feel the same they would adopt this. Case closed
