I don't hate them, but I feel the Vault Boy buttons are not really useful. There are other buttons with stronger messages to express if you (dis)like something.
They also become problematic if you dislike Vault Boy.

What's the difference between sheeple and cuck ratings? There's probably something very nuanced, but I'm unable to connect the dots.

NPC is programmed with opinions by mass media or a cult, and are unable to think for themself.

Sheeple is an older form of NPC, from 9/11 era, refers to mindlessly going along with the herd, and afraid to have a minority opinion. Used by conspiracy theorists to refer to normies.
