My theory is that the countries that went incredibly overboard on lockdowns acquired very few people with natural immunity therefore anytime they attempt to ease off the restrictions this is going to happen and force a kneejerk lockdown reaction. They're basically stuck in a groundhog day situation.

There is no long term full immunity. Resistance falls down for healthy people without immunodeficiency in about 6 months.

Spreading it into Australia would only accomplish a lot of Australians laying in bed for a week, or longer. While I heard rumors about bone marrow keeping info about immunologic reaction and possibly needed antigens, that doesn't stop infection from happening.
