You’re a Patrol Op on a holiday weekend at World’s End Ski Resort, Mount Hope, Antarctica. But things are about to go sideways.

Now you’re stranded at the off-season resort with unforgettable guests, wild parties, and mad secrets. The world of XXX NIGHTSHIFT is your oyster—crack it open with evolved role-playing systems.

Features
  • Deep single-player role-playing with seismic choices. Powerful, finely tuned, innovative. It’s yours to decide how your story unfolds—and how it ends. Follow your truths or just slide on the surface of things.
  • Volumetric: A fresh role-playing system that respects your time, trusts your intelligence, and plays along with your every choice. Play a true three-dimensional human being. Combine 20 Traces across four categories to shape your character in any way you desire.
  • Find a partner in crime investigation or try flying solo. A unique companion dynamic provides you with many paths to solve the crimes. Engage in social climbing, soul digging, man-eating, and more, depending on your choices and luck.
  • Maboul Kit: Tune your investigative mind to prepare for interrogations, confrontations, and seductions. Anticipate what’s coming and boost your chances. But mind the side effects—there’s always a price to pay.
  • Dopamine Buffet: Rehearse your moves. Dance through crime scenes. Drift through parties. Or find pleasure in completing the simplest chores. Get better with every action you take.
  • Marafet Calculator: Use Marafet calculations to alter your time and space. Go deep with insights and discover connections, but make sure you’ll be able to resurface.
Original Science Fiction Setting: The detective RPG XXX NIGHTSHIFT lands you in a luxury resort that shouldn’t exist, with people you shouldn’t know. In the endless polar night, amidst the orgies of politics, power, and poetry, something gruesome lies waiting.

In 2086 CE, things really can’t go much further south than World’s End, Antarctica. Have fun.

And nothing about combat system

I'm not sure there is one, although: https://www.gamespress.com/en-US/TEAM-TRAINED-ON-MULTI-AWARD-WINNING-DISCO-ELYSIUM-FORM-NEW-STUDIO

Timo Albert, one of the four Dark Math Games founders and Art Director/Tactical Lead: “Additionally to innovating the traditional RPG mechanics, we’ll bring something fresh to the table. You will see. And of course, a few less words. And a few more bullets, perhaps. In total: lot more fun.”

AFAIK, there's two game companies formed from previous DE devs, and not a single visionary of that game (Kurvitz, Rostov) is in these companies

If we take into account that cRPGs derrived from tabletop RPGs and those derrived from wargames, then having no combat in such take on cRPG makes the game only RPG-like in definition, I suppose.

Ex-Disco devs formed two studios: Longdue Games and Dark Math Games. Robert Kurvitz and Alexander Rostov are part of neither of the two studios.

"Former disco devs".

Is Kender the lead writer on this one?

Title is an interesting choice. Hopefully it won't get you in trouble with whoever owns the movie IP. Regardless, best of luck.

You can see here that apparently his brother and him are at the helm of the company making this game, but it's weird because they're clearly banking on people thinking they've got the ex writers but Kender himself never wrote for DE itself, he just produced it. We know Kurvitz, Rostov and Hindpere aren't there and I'd even go further and say Argo's also not involved since he doesn't seem like the kinda guy to keep his mouth shut about something like this, but that's just me. So that'd leave us with Olga Moskvina/Cash Decuir for the base game and Justin Keenan/Chris Priestman for the final cut for main writers if we go by the game's credits. I know they wouldn't draw as big as a draw as Kurvitz or Rostov, but going by the final cut alone their work isn't bad and some like Justin have been in several interviews before all of the fiasco even talking about his experience developing Elysium. You'd think they would say who they got from the get-go if it was any of these but the way they've said it so vaguely makes me distrust it.
Initially I thought this was ANOTHER "Disco Elysium spiritual successor" with former DE devs (that was announced today also lol) but apparently that's a completely different project made by entirely different people and they're also being vague about who exactly they got on their team. This just really smells like both of them got some ex ZA/UM intern to draw attention, more so when you look at who they do have and it's people from AAA games like Grant K. Roberts who's worked as a writer on that godawful Suicide Squad game and DESTINY of all things.

As I was writing this it has come to my attention that there's YET ANOTHER disco successor announced today only this time they've been forthcoming about which Disco devs they've got -- Argo Tuulik (told you lol), Olga Moskvina and Dora Klindžić (and also the voice actor for the narrator/skills)-- which makes me suspect either this is an agreement between all three to announce the projects at the same time and not "obscure" one another OR two of them caught wind of the other one going to be announced today and decided to also make themselves known as to not have their thunder stolen. Probably this one considering it's the only one with actual gameplay being showcased. Pure speculation on my part, mind you.

As an aside I actually really hate this name. It just makes me think it's one of those tacky WEG patreon porn games. But it looks interesting enough, I'd give it a try whenever it comes out.
