Sometimes I forget that there are things in human form that do not fully enjoy the amount of mythological shitposting in Dominions. No one beats Ind though, it reminds me of my youth and Eco's Baudolino.

It's a fun book

Get out of my head, I’m literally reading it right now! (Well, that and Battle Tactics of the Civil War, a man has to sperg far and wide)

And yes, it is fantastic. The first chapter alone is worth buying the book on its own, although I shudder at the thought that someone, somewhere had to translate it.

Tanuki is already in, unless you specifically want the most X-rated version.
Oh, they are? Which unit is it again?
Literally called tanuki from the spell 'contact tanuki'.

There are also snake girls, fox girls etc.
“Tell me you never played Jomon without telling me you never played Jomon”, the self own edition.

From what I see, you're the only ones not having thrown the Pretender in. The game had an extremely slow start, but pardon the heads-up.
Andnjord will remember this.

But you did name your pretender Amrav, so, in the name of Grimwulf, I forgive you.

On another note, I finished Baudolino a few days ago, it is indeed an extremely fun book, one I would heartily recommend ( although just how translators handled the introduction I demand to see). Makes me sad just how underutilised actual European medieval mythologies are in modern so-called European fantasy settings.

You took your place, you merely did not upload your pretender.

Just wait until you see that I REALLY took the Golden Pillar in ProfessionalThroneSitters I because you suggested it. Who needs sensible Pretender design anyway.

Because "european fantasy settings" aren't, per se, European. They're essentially American, and I do not say it to disparage or anything: D&D is essentially mangled Tolkien with a good serving of pop culture fantasy. American cultural supremacy did a sterling job in.... slowly killing our cultural background. That's the price of globalization and the price of being here in this very forum typing in English. It happens. Also reading is hard and it's easier to add disabled genderqueer adventurers than The Magnificent Kingdom of Exalted Virtue with all their weirdo beasts.

In a completely unrelated way, it reminds me how it's commonly believed that Europeans don't have for example sword traditions or the like, that we forgot everything while the Asians have their CENTURIES OLD traditions that are exotic an' shit. Then you discover the Azns made up almost everything in the 19th century and we had people that routinely dueled each other in Naples or Rovigo or whatever until the 1930ies with schools and feuds an' shit.

We forgot our history, fetishized the others, and don't even care about it.

My bad, I thought you were shouting for people to upload their pretenders (which I just did, I’m sure you’ll appreciate the chosen name).

Yeeeeees, pooooower!

We forgot our history, fetishized the others, and don't even care about it.
I (also) blame the 19th century for reducing medieval culture to the bible and nothing else but their respective nationalist foundational myths as well as sanitising away what was left of most of its weirder elements.
