Audiosurf 2 is out of early access (and still super buggy)

A sequel to the first Audiosurf, which was a game where you collect blocks on a track based around whatever music you choose to play is out of early access.

my impressions:
-------------------------------------------------------------

Improvements over the first Audiosurf:

Soundcloud integration is fantastic. There is a huge library of music (most of which illegally uploaded, but who cares.) so you no longer need to have your collection of mp3 files on the same computer.

New game modes like Waveboard, which is a variation of the classic ninja mono, where you click to launch yourself into the air, timing your launch during tempo changes within the song and trying to get the most airtime. This is an improvement for those of us who felt that ninja mono was too bland. Audiosprint turns Audiosurf into that classic running game where you duck and jump over obstacles. There's also a super casual visualizer mode.

No more shitty Audiosurf webclient

More track themes, like Dusk, which turns the game into a highway at night (Kavinsky mandatory) , some retro and spacey looking themes and a theme that turns the game into sonic the hedgehog (mod).

Generally improved music analysis algorithm. block placement seems less arbitrary than the first game, and there are far more spikes on mono to avoid.

Problems:

It's a buggy piece of shit that crashes a lot. It leaks memory and doesn't terminate itself properly after game exit.

The menu is godawful and freezes before every song

The file browser is shit, just like the first game.

Controls with mouse feel somewhat more sluggish and imprecise compared to the first game.

Verdict:

If you liked the old Audiosurf, this is mostly exactly the same but prettier. You are paying 20 dollars for one good game mode and themed skins. I feel like this game is worth ten bucks at it's current state.

any good track recommendations?

Are you sure it's worth more than 5$? I really like the first Audiosurf, but complains about (sometimes gamebreaking) bugs are putting me off for now.

I think the new mono and waveboard mode is what the old mono should have been like.

The crashes happen the most after the song is finished or during the menu, but the game itself is solid. I still like it more than the first one, despite it's bugginess.

I prefer Audiosurf 1. Controls feel tighter, especially since I always preferred the number row controls for movement and comma/full stop for abilities which has now been removed.

Spotify integration would have been better than Soundcloud, but I guess you can use soundcloud for free while the Spotify API requires a paid account.

I was really enthusiastic about the first game until I played it. It didn't work right and it caused system instability issues. Immediately uninstalled.
Haven't given it another chance since, and there's no way I'm installing the sequel.. even if it was free.

ITT people who cannot into computers.
The file browser is shit, just like the first game.
There is literally nothing wrong with the browser. It has the best file browser out of any of the "music" games that are on Steam that came out since the first AS. And it has search now. The only way the browser could be better is if it read your thoughts.

Let me tell you why Audiosurf 1&2 are the best "powered by your music" games and the rest are shit.

Because they don't fucking make the track in real time and instead it's per-constructed before playing. That way the track changes actually follow the music instead of what other games do, which is like a visualizer that only reacts AFTER some music cue happens, effectively making a completely disjointed experience, maybe with some flashing lights that don't actually matter.
