Did a cat get let out of its bag too early? :M

That's probably because they've got him labelled as (formerly) Creative Director and Co-Owner of Obsidian, and also employed at Larian (even though he isn't really)

MCA's panels at Reboot Develop 2016:

Brian Fargo, Dan Vavra, Chris Avellone, Swen Vincke - mod Damir Durovic
State of RPG genre, the old, the new and the beautiful

Chris Avellone
Beachside chat with Chris Avellone

Rhianna Pratchett, Chris Avellone, Steve Ince, Tom Jubert, Jonas Kyratzes - mod Noirin Carmody
PANEL - Narrative and storytelling in videogames

These could be interesting, hope they make it available to the public afterwards.

Croatia, huh? What's so important that they have to go all the way over there to talk about RPGs, I wonder.

The city alone is worth the trip, and they're getting paid to go. No-brainer.

Well, Split seems like a great place, and the Croatian coast is pretty lovely in general. I'm sure all these people jumped at the opportunity to spend a few days there.

For fuck's sake, it's not like looking this kiind of stuff up is difficult.

They should also hire someone who can into Engrish a little better, it's a bit painful to read - as supervoid pointed out, their page is full of errors, kinda cringeworthy considering this is supposed to be a grand ol' international conference.

I think they should just require that all presentations are made in Polish.

The Larian title is an error, it was likely legacy text. Am working on fixing it.

...and by fixing it, I mean I am sending my troops to attack Swen and seize control of Larian. His tallness will be no match for my vim and vigor.

DD: If you guys have any questions for the Beachside chat, including "why the hell is this at a beach," feel free to suggest it, and I can relay it to organizers.

And while you may be tempted to attack Drew, I'll go on record as saying KOTOR1 was a much better, cleaner, and polished experience than the second one, and most importantly, it was a finished experience (in the time I worked with them at Interplay, Ray and Greg never took the road of "quality when convenient" as heads of the studio, and often fought many battles to insure quality at risk to themselves, which is how it should be).

So I freely admit I enjoyed the first game and the narrative, and it made me enjoy Star Wars again. So yeah, I'd work with Drew in a heartbeat.

Also, if any Codexers are at DD, let me know (everyone I've met, from WL2 launch party, to PAX, to WonderCon has been great to chat with and drink with).

Too bad we are not looking for "experiences" (whatever that is supposed to mean) then. We also aren't looking for someone to butcher perfectly fine characters (*cough* SWTOR novel and SWTOR in general *cough*). What we ARE looking for is good gameplay (which none of the KotORs arguably possess) and coherent, focused, well-written narrative (with everything that entails and in which the second one is vastly superior) among other things.

Don't listen to that gigafaggot, only morons and Lisp programmers use Emacs. Are you a Lisp programmer?

(Okay, I also use Emacs -rarely- because certain lexical grammar parsers work as Emacs plugins. Terribly clunky plugins.)

eh, I was just exploiting the cliche. I use Notepad++ because I'm not a retard from 1970.
Also, I don't code so I don't need extra spushal features, I like how N++ formats nfo files for my cracks and keygens and porn nothing else.

KOTOR1 was the more polished experience as a whole, but the writing in the second game is better. I admit that I like both games.

As for you, are you going to be freelancing from here on out or will you be thinking about joining another studio any time soon? I'd love to see a game where you're in a lead creative role.

@topic:

1 pulled off that star wars feeling. despite stupid story, it had good moments, like old guy and the ending ceremony. 100% star wars feeling.
2 felt like MCA hates star wars, which made it really interesting. it's also incredibly well written IMO, even if the story is really close to PS:T in a way that is hard to explain

definitely prefer 2 because kreia is best npc of all time and ppl who disagree are dumb faggots

I don't think he hates/hated it. He did say he wasn't excited at first when they got the gig, but eventually warmed up to it and enjoyed the freedom they had.
Ironically, Kotor 2 is a lot more faithful to Star Wars lore than Kotor 1.
No surprise, really. He said that in his research he read pretty much everything there was to read in the EU. I recall another Obsidian dev mentioning bookcases full of MCA's Star Wars books in the office.
