Good for preventing quote pyramids, but it can be annoying when you're replying to a post with a quote that isn't of another user's post, like when somebody puts some text from a website in quote tags. Or when a quoted post is replied to piece by piece, Vault Dweller-style.

That's always been the default XF behaviour but DU added the quote pyramids back in himself. I had to do the XF upgrade in a hurry myself since a security fix couldn't wait, but I'll leave it up to DU to deal with the aftermath when he can, there will be other hacks that'll need to be reapplied too.
