obligatory edgy comment.

They're only giving the keys away for free because they intend to make up the revenue by selling power ups in the in game item shop as well as a healthy reliance on DLC.

oh, key please.

Ok, so here's the deal:

1. Crooked Bee's been a naughty girl and appears to have promised keys under conditions she shouldn't have.

2. Not everyone who said they would pass is actually passing (as I believe should be their right).

3. This is the Official List of Donors I'm using. This was the first of our fundraisers two years ago before I made the automated system (which has some errors due to PayPal fees and because we used multiple PayPal accounts, and the fact they're all manual entries).

4. This thread with said claims was made the day our fundraiser ended on the 23 Mar. Until that time, I can't see any promises made about us getting any more than 50 copies before then. Meaning nobody can claim to have donated $15 to our fundraiser just to get a digital copy (you may have hoped for it, but there were no guarantees made before any of the donations were made). For the record, the original version of this thread started with:

Now that we've reached $10k in donations and Brian Fargo has kindly agreed to give us extra digital copies for those who need one and have donated at least $15 towards the shrine, time to officially make it clear who needs a copy and who doesn't.

Despite that legal wrangling, we are obviously in an unfortunate position...

So what's going to happen is, I will continue to work my way down the list of names, contacting everyone in order. As people pass, I will contact the next person in the list.

We have 70 keys to give away. So far I have given out 17 Steam Keys, 7 GOG keys and 10 have passed. wesmo is also the proud winner of the SURPRISE! Deluxe Digital Edition we ended up with.

At the moment, I've contacted (or am about to contact) the top 80 names in the list. I will continue to contact people until we run out of keys. When that happens, if there are still people left over who were erroneously promised one under Crooked Bee's lies and misinformation, we will consider what to do.

You may now lodge your protests.

EDIT: Typo

Anyway, if there is any further going down the list, you can count me out. I got a key from a BRO who had a spare.

Thanks for nothing, Codex :argh:

Not sure if this is the place to offer but I have a "standard edition" GOG key available for a Codex Bro. I did end up taking the Steam key DU offered from the Codex pledge as I wanted one to go with the Deluxe GOG key I got from my KS pledge. Let me know if you need one......

The thing is I've canceled my kickstarter after this stuff has been announced. So I now have to pay $25 more. Rue the day I believeth the promise...

Don't do that just yet. We might have enough keys for everyone after all - DU started PMing all backers in order instead of using the list I put together on page 1 of this thread, so it might take a while before everyone responds on whether they opt out/accept the keys and unfortunately I can't guarantee this, but do wait a week or two. (However long it takes DU to process everything.)

Well, I'd be delighted.
PM me if you need it.
Thanks. But I checked I'm on that list CB mentioned with people who have some chance of getting the code. So probably it'd be best if you gave the code to someone not on that list. Sorry for the mess.

Quite the contrary, in fact - better to give it to someone on the list (in this case you), because trying to get everyone on that list a key will be our top priority/headache in the nearest future. So do accept it.

So far I have 12 people who said they'd opt out, who have taken a key instead. With 19 who said they'd pass, still passing.

Of those remaining, if those who said they'd opt out as per the list on page 1, do actually opt-out, then I'll have enough keys to cover everyone who donated $15+.

And Elwro didn't donate the minimum $15 by the way. :)

Nope, Elwro is the last one. My bad.

Only the first #166 in this list donated the minimum.

If anyone does have keys they want to go to eligible people (that is, donated at least $15 to the Wasteland 2 KickStarter), PM me the key and I can add it to the collection of keys and continue to work through the list giving them out.

EDIT: I'll add, my process is to private message everyone to their user account on the forums. I will give them two weeks to reply. Failing a reply, if they have previously opted out, I will pass their key on to the next in the list. If they have not opted out, then I will contact them via e-mail at which point they will have another two weeks to respond.

Um, pretty sure my name should be on that list. You can give my key or keys to the masses.

So here's the current situation.

I've contacted everyone in the first 83 names. 25 of those people are yet to get back to me. The rest have either taken a key or passed.

There's a total 104 people who I am yet to make contact with (which includes those 25 who have yet to contact me).

I have 48 keys currently remaining.
If those in CB's list actually opt out and everyone else takes one, I'll need 61 keys.
If I use my own list marked at the time, I'll need 51 keys.

So... for everyone from 84 through 165 (as Elwro already has a key thanks to mindx2), I will ONLY contact those who have NOT opted out as per Crooked Bee's list on page 1 AND who are not marked with an asterix in my list here. If, after everyone of those people has been contacted, I still have keys remaining, only then will I contact the rest.

And when it comes to future KickStarters, we're going to be very careful when it comes to making promises to people for things we don't yet have, based on vague hopes and claims people will make years before anything will be delivered.

EDIT: It helps if I link to the right list.

You could give me a key and then I could say I was getting paid for all the work I did that will never see the light of day.
No.

It works just fine for politicians and salespersons.
