Yeah, I'm loving some of those overpowered item combinations. On my third run I became Guppy and destroyed Mom's heart in mere seconds thanks to a nice damage combo:

Just had the tankiest goddamn mom heart kill. Had something like 6 or 7 red hearts and the rest with spirit hearts and I was incredibly slow due to getting speed down earlier and finding Thunder Thighs which upped HP, slowed me even more, and let me smash rocks by walking on them. Couldn't dodge worth shit but due to having super good luck with HP ups I had also picked up a few deals with the devil and had Brimstone and Whore of Babylon (Which ended up being useless since I found ALL THE HP IN THE WORLD) and was able to just take the hits while barfing. Might've been in worse shape if I hadn't been hanging on to an emperor card so I could get there in good shape.

Also ended up with a lot of keys and did my first try on a key beggar. Payout was disappointing, got a red chest and the twisted wire (Or whatever it's called) trinket. Thus far key beggar doesn't seem worth it unless you're already rolling in keys.

Every time key beggar has paid up for me it's been a stat boost, like a mushroom or something. But yeah, given you need keys to open gold rooms, I certainly wouldn't give him my last key outside of a challenge run or if I had some means of getting more on hand, like a slot machine or a trinket coughing them up.

Only one of those I did so far was the bomb one, which is a cake walk. Just bomb through doors, and bomb spamming bosses is piss easy anyways.

Edit: Game is too easy on normal now. This is my loadout from the end of my Purist run, ffs.

I had 2 sources of flying, bullets that erased enemy shots while piercing through them and walls and enemies themselves, and functionally no heart cap thanks to devil bum friend. Devil deals too fucking good and easy to get. I pretty much didn't need to move during heart fight except to kill globins occasionally. Just erased her entire bullet hell spam.

Only played about 10 or so runs but I'm noticing a particularly high tendency for me to get stupid-OP like half way through. Often, a common factor has been a re-roll room but there have bene some cases where I get Cricket's body + spider spawn or something.

I can't tell if this is because I haven't unlocked a ton of shitty items, and so I am more likely to get good items or if the game's experience is far more variable given how many more items there are.

Only played about 10 or so runs but I'm noticing a particularly high tendency for me to get stupid-OP like half way through. Often, a common factor has been a re-roll room but there have bene some cases where I get Cricket's body + spider spawn or something.

I can't tell if this is because I haven't unlocked a ton of shitty items, and so I am more likely to get good items or if the game's experience is far more variable given how many more items there are.

Also, the creepy as well "jesus loves you" track when you win <3 Unless it's still in but for cathedral victories.

Aside from one Azazel run that ended when I got a proper brimstone I've had extremely shitty luck.

Yep. Donation machine can only get so many (Seemingly a random amount) pennies per run.

I think that's probably the case. It's possible the items are a little more favorable this time 'cause I've also noticed that a bit, I've had fewer straight up shitty item runs but I'm still losing fairly regularly because A: out of Isaac shape and B: some of the new enemies are evil. Lookin' at you, Dingle and those fucking ghosts. Some of the new room layouts are a bummer too.

Speaking of room layouts, been like two rooms that are just tedious. Worst offender was a 1X2 room with spike blocks sliding along a massive line of rocks in the middle of the room, and then a few of the gray shooting flies. Took forever to get out of there just because the flies would wobble around on the rocks where I couldn't shoot them, then got knocked aside by the sliding blocks and usually ended up deep in the rocks again. Not difficult but a big time consuming pain in the ass. The other room was something like that too, I think it was one of the 2X2 rooms with again those gray shooting flies (They're most guilty of this since they don't actively chase you much, just kinda wobble around) with massive piles of rocks.

Jesus Christ. Just found a boss rush room or something. Had to fight like 30 bosses 2-3 at a time, each wave immediately popping after the previous was killed. THAT WAS SOME INTENSE ISAACING. Unlocked Isaac's Head by beating it though!

If you kill mom's heart quickly, like 20 minutes or something, I think you get the boss rush.

I'm stoked for all the random secrets.

I got an item called 'flush' (toilet handle) -- 6 room charge, noooo clue what it does. No description, no effect from what I saw.

Same thing with some of the zodiac signs.

Doing the challenges can help you figure out what a lot of items/interactions are. Flush is a pretty niche item, it turns all the enemies in the room into poops. So it's better than Necronomicon in some regards (and can generate some decent items if you have the petrified poop), but does nothing vs bosses.

Huh, I used it on regular enemies... it turns them into piles of poop or the poop enemies? Cuz it didn't do shit (lul) to some spiders.

NVM: tried the 'high brow' challenge; yeah it poopifies 'em. Guess I didn't see it and just assumed there were poops there in the level when I used it.

Just won my first hardmode run. I randomed Samson, who is pretty much the lowest of the shit tier, which made it a giant pain in the ass, many restarts. Finally got a run where I just fluked into a stupid amount of spirit and evil hearts on like floor 2, like 4 of each including the devil room. From there I got pretty fat, and eventually had a really strong brimstone and a ton more health besides from all the hp ups (got like 2 or 3 from pills.) Only bad luck was slot machines (dumped like 30 cents into them over the run and all I got back was 2 cents and no bombs or keys or hearts or anything) and general lack of keys, which seems to be a big part of hard mode. Never enough mother fucking keys.

Also got basement boy during my attempts, which was cool (and revealed to me that the dark rooms with the spikey doors don't break this challenge.)

Edit:

This time I got Dark Boy and unlocked something for clearing the boss rush (dunno if there are separate unlocks for hard mode, it makes a different marker on the character select screen.) Still died in the womb. Fucking horse shit hard mode bosses. I love it. Probably could have cleared Sheol if I skipped the boss rush, burnt like 7 hearts in there.

Does anyone know what the goat head does? I grab it every time but never notice anything different, really. Does it make devil deals more likely to show?
