Don't know about you, but limeys can be arrested for hate speech on the internet since recently. So? What are they gonna do, send Emma Watson's Fan Club after me?
Actually the password i use here was compromised last year. Never bothered to change it because my codex account is worth as much as whatever i flush down the toilet when i go, but it did happen to be the same password i used in a couple other games and those accounts did get hacked.
If the site doesn't use encryption, it doesn't matter how strong the password is - anyone routed between the PC and the website can read it plain as day.Actually the password i use here was compromised last year. Was your password 123456? :D
Why have such censorship, though?jcd might have his faults, but I have to agree with because:
a) he is abso-fucking-lutely right about wanting to have encrypted connection to the scum pit that is codex
b) has a cool avatar
c) judging by his flair he won't mind spending some shekels to cover increased (just a tiny bit) server costs
That would be censorship of our messages from outside view. What has https to do with censorship? If anything, going over encrypted connections makes third-party censorship and information tampering harder.
Even the Watch has https
They were also down for a week last month.
If DU has time to set up HTTPS the right way, fine, it will improve security a little. But it's a pain in the ass. These guys acting like it's easy-peasy have never done it themselves or they're doing it wrong.
Come on, guys, what do you want more:
Encryption or more rating buttons?
I do use uMatrix (and more) to block all that shit. I also use a chain of VPNs to avoid "same IP", and browser setting spoofer to avoid browser fingerprinting. Do you think I'm some kind of a rookie? I don't even load anything from the biggest spying websites, no matter where I am, so they can't spy on me anyway. For example I have all scripts that are commonly loaded from google's cdn servers (like ajax.googleapis.com) cached locally to avoid revealing the domains that I browse.
