Can anyone tell me if this feature is up and running yet?

In account details -> What's new? -> there's a section called "ignored forums"

The forums I've selected to ignore are still visible though. Will this feature be implemented fully in the near future?

Edit - DarkUnderlord Would it be possible to implement a feature whereby we can choose to hide/ignore subforums? ie: Remove, say, jRPG Weeaboo, Politics, Prosper's Funhouse, etc. from the subforums we see listed on the forum list if we elect to hide them?

I think it only means that threads from them won't be appear in "What's New?" listings.

It does not make the sub-forums themselves hidden.

Thanks. I thought this feature would hide selected forums, looks like I was totally off track. Is there any way to hide sub-forums? SCO

Yes. Element hider add-on for adblock plugin.

It's redundant with the new feature - i only use 'what's new' unless i really want to check out read/older threads
