  1. Might and Magic The Might and Magic Discussion Thread

7 introduced Arcomage, which is pretty much the only enjoyable minigame in any RPG that has ever existed, so it has that going for it.
  2. Review Mass Effect 2 Kasumi DLC Reviews

To my understanding, Tali is loved because you don't play psychologist for her. Bioware was surprised she was such a fan favorite, simply because they didn't grasp that some people aren't turned on by horrible and crippling co-dependence.
  3. Game News Persistent C&C in Alpha Protocol

In their defense, it's going to be tiresome as hell when every game that gives more then one option to do things is immidiately compared to Mass Fucking Effect.
  4. Game News Avernum 6 is Here

Oh, I dunno. Those are the same portraits/avatars that've been in place since Avernum 1. They've got a place in my heart
  5. Game News Two Worlds 2 Preview

...Holy shit, he was my housemate last year. He was a cool guy.
  6. Editorial RPG Mechanics Improved : ME2

The hilarious thing about this is that the "simplification" was touted as one of the good parts of ME2. They basically took their own bragging point and then claimed you weren't allowed to dislike it for the same reason some people did like it. "Why is this good?" "Well, it's simplified."...
  7. Review Elzair takes a look at Dragon Age: Origins

This was less of a review, more of a whine.
  8. Company News What can change the nature of RPG?

I don't think anyone but Peter Molyneux and his legion of journalist cocksuckers believes anything Peter Molyneux says anymore.
  9. The Wii has hit a wall.

I don't think it's fair to try and claim the Wii is holding a torch for those sad gamers who feel the industry left them behind. Each of the three consoles had their own stupid shitty gimmicks, from PS3's blu-ray (And whoever came up with that name should be shot), to Wii's waggle. Funny...
  10. The Wii has hit a wall.

Well, on one hand, it IS true that the Wii is the only console dedicated entirely to gaming. It is the most "pure" of the consoles. On the other hand, that should say a lot about where the industry is these days.
  11. Interview Is Alpha Protocol RPG Enough?

Yes and no. I think the issue is that 99% of the games that brag about having multiple paths end up being utter bullshit (See: Everything Bioware does). So when Obsidian brags the same thing the default is "You haven't bribed us, why the fuck should we believe you?" So Obsidian basically...
  12. Interview Leonard Boyarsky Interview at Hellgate Guru

Not really. Diablo never claimed to be a hardcore old school RPG. It knows from the start that it's firmly in the "Action" genre. Reading through long obtuse amounts of text wouldn't help the game, only hinder it. In Oblivion, we saw a genre that's supposed to have depth lose it. In...
  13. Is Anyone Else Excited About Diablo 3?

Hesitantly so, but most of the time when I look forward to something it ends up being shit, so I don't want to be TOO excited about it. Still, I'd go with yes.
  14. Dragon Age PC Zone UK Review

I'm amazed that when you market an RPG to very dedicated non-RPG players who don't know what they're doing, they suddenly find it very difficult! Also, I love how their big thing for the Origins isn't that it effects the game later on, but that it helps you pretend that it does. No but...
  15. Dragon Age... the blood...

The funny - or horribly depressing thing - is that, if any other developer were doing this, nobody alive would take it seriously. Because it's Bioware, people are eating it up. It's going to sell big, and not because of being good, but because it has "BIOWARE" on the cover.
