Are we looking forward to Drakensang's sequel?

For a first imte game from a first time devloper, Drakensang was pretty good. It certainly had flaws, such as boring areas, filler combat, very little use of skils in dialogue, but all this can be attributed to the fact that, as I mentioed they are a first time dev.

So with the sequel announced (yes yes it is a prequel) are we looking forward to it? I read somewhere that this time they will put in more content and make more use of skills in dialogue. You will also be able to affect the world more.

I think all this amounts to that we should support the dev and look forward to this puppy.
I mean just think of the difference between Baldurs Gate 1 and Baldurs Gate 2.

Discuss!!

The demo effectively put me off, so I guess I won't touch its sequel either.

Is there another choice for RPGs out there? There is no contender that I can see for miles in any direction. In before Drakensang sucks.

Drakensang wasn't pretty good. Drakensang was shit.
One of the most boring, uninspired, generic games I've had the misfortune to play recently.
Combat felt like I was playing a mmorpg.
The game also had an overall feel that non-combat skills meant nothing.
And no C&C.

What's the sense in playing it then? There isn't. And there's no sense in waiting for a sequel either.

I liked Drakensang. Mediocre game, but considering the quality of RPGs we usually get nowadays, and especially considering what kinds of games they call RPGs nowadays, it was solid.

Drakensang Review

BTW, the codex has not yet done a review for Drakensang. Is anyone who played the game up for it?

I was excited about the stats, skills, and system, but yeah the world was pretty bland and the combat is horrible. Still... I'll at least give the sequel a chance.

Merida, again
I didn't even finish the first one. It had a certain quality that prevented me from enjoying it. I may try the sequel, but I'm not really looking forward to it.

Better combat, less generic stories and such, more skill checks in the dialog and more branching quests and the sequel could be the best RPG we see that year. The first one was playable, somewhat fun, but it could have been soooo much better. Still I'd rather play that than the indie titles some people get a stiffy too...

I enjoyed it because of the atmosphere in the city and the RTWP combat actually being better than most other RPGs with RTWP combat. Also, character development.
Nothing outstanding, but in this era of RPG drought, it was positively refreshing.
Also it was made by Germans, and as a citizen of the Reich it is my duty to like it

I was officially asked by the Codex staff if I wanted to review it. I said no since I was busy, but now that I am completely un-busy I might be able to write something up. Provided of course everyone on the forum begs me to do it.

So please, start begging.

Drakensang is shit. Review ends.

After play fallout 1 and 2, baldur´s gate 1 and 2, Planescape Torment, arcanum (still playing it), gothic serie 1 and 2 (and 3 right now), all other games to the present looks like SHIT. Drakesang was one of those shitty games.

thought the game was utter shit for the first 2-4 hours (even worse than Act 1 in NWN2 OC) but after then it hooked me. lucky, because i was pretty close to uninstalling - one crash d have done the trick and i d have missed out on the rest.

no clue whats wrong with the combat, i think its one of the better RTWP examples , miles above 90% of the shit that passes for combat in a cRPG (not only new ones, also most oldies), even though that probably doesnt mean much. just wondering why the combat is so often brought up as a negative thing, did people only play the demo/first few hours where you dont have most of your abilities/spells yet ? not trying to claim drakensang combat is awesome - nope, it has quite alot left for improvement but seriously, vs the clusterfuck combat in most other cRPGs its pretty okay.

sequel sounds pretty interesting so far, of course only if the infos in the previews isnt false promises, then again so far radon labs have been rather "down-to-earth" and honest thus far: more skillchecks/use for dialogue skills, less linearity/being able to travel back to old areas and doing new quests in them, quests that are different depending on your class choice etc. etc.

Drakensang's combat is beyond retardation. Until they redo it from scratch, no amount of content or "use skills in dialogue" would make it a better RPG.

Still, a Drakensang sequel is better than none RPGs at all.

Chalk up another one for "no". Drakensang was as offensively bland as it gets. Uninteresting walls of text, and the combat captured the excitement of waiting in line at the bank.

Drakensang was so mediocre and generic that I'd rather play a bad game. At least that would get an emotional response out of me.

I still don't see differences between drakensang and dragon age. They're both fail rpgs. Why should anyone give a fuck?

They need to give substantial improvement to the writing and skills usage for me to give a fuck about it. The first one left a mixed impression with cliche writings and painfully boring quests/combat. If they still fail at this, forget it.
