Ruleset is an improvement over D&D

I can't agree. Working towards prestige classes or multiclass your characters beats Drakensangs system and don't start talking about the magic system.

But...Drakensang is a Party RPG. So if you could stomach NWN2 OC, give it a try.
Plus it features the most sexy pixels in an RPG since Bloodlines.

Towards the last third of the game you can revisit some locations. So it's not 100 % true, that you can't go back.

Shouldn't it be your job as a PnP author to present your players with meaningful choices all the way down?
My experience with PnP is that GMs would like to railroad so they can showcase how clever their campaign is. However, they've got a problem that fully prevents them from doing this: The players. You can't railroad them too much or they leave, thus leaving you with the job of coming up with reactions to their whims. I'd say that most games would be largely the same in PnP. It's how the GM works around the PCs best attempts in breaking the mold that give each a unique flavour.

Drakensang, another fucking and meaningless game they better should have released back in the 20th century.

Or better never. I am still furious I wasted time and money on this.
