What do you think guise? it requires bc2 to run so i'm waiting for GOTY edition so i don't have to pay for every expansion.

Still waiting for a proper BF 1942 on their frostbite

Remember BF:Vietnam?

Yeah, me neither.

Interesting that they had like 3 expansions for bf 1942 but i never cared to even buy any of them ,I only played bf 1942.

Wish they would bring back the old gameplay + the destructible env.

How exactly is the new gameplay different from the old? I haven't played BC 1 or 2 but I did play 1942, Vietnam, BF2 and 2142.

I like it so far. Maps are very memorable and evocative of those great moments from movies on Vietnam, especially the Hill map. It sees you assaulting an easily defended hill, fighting through brush, jungle and foxholes, after which you have to cross a great-looking burnt field full of mortat holes. There are also the iconic rice fields. The music blasting from vehicles was chosen well and definitely adds to the atmosphere. You no longer have scopes, so the recon class finally makes more sense. Snipers now have to aid the guys in the jungle by spotting and picking off other snipers. The weapons feel solid, and there's less recoil on most of them, which is kinda popamolish, but also fine by me, because I hate it when a gun just shakes all over the place after just a couple of shots. I found it annoying in the original, even if it was realistic.

The textures are still shit, and moving across the terrain is still an enormous pain in the ass because you often find that you can't jump over some knee-high obstacles.

Overall a pretty solid product, though with less emphasis on destructible terrain, since there are much fewer buldings this time around.

EDIT: Oh and it seems that now most weapons can harm helicopters, and they're the open kind, so it's easier to bring down guys inside it. I've seen helis with two or more engineers reapiring it while others did the firing. I always found it annoying that the helis in BC2 were invulnerable to small arms fire, though I don't know if that's realistic.

I already said it but im gonna say it again. BC2 would be a really fucking solid product if not the technological fuck ups. Three things:
1. Performance (as in, low fps, fps drops etc.)
2. Net code (as in, lags, it feels like theres 100+ ping built in etc.)
3. General bugs (some related to netcode, for example it doesnt register hits properly VERY often).

These 3 things start to annoy you very quickly if you stop fucking around and actually play to have some fun and win. This game is destroyed for me because of those 3 flaws.

netcode is the old BF nemesis... always took them about 4 patches to get it somewhat stable... the ping display in BF2 still doesn't work properly after more than 5 years

A quality netcode specialist must be a rare and talented creature, if the number of games with horrible netcode is anything to go by.

And here I was feeling smug about my pings in the single digits...

The misaligned iron sights were one of the reasons I quit.

Does Vietnam have a single player campaign or is it just for multi? Personally I haven't played BC2 yet, I'm waiting for a good Steam sale. A bundle with the expansion would be great.

true... had another look and it's just the original bc2 game that's about 30 bucks without the expansion

still prefer the old unreal tournament expansion pack pricing... which was 40 bucks for the game and the 0 for the expansions

The pricing actually isnt THAT bad. It's not your standard few maps dlc but more like a mini expansion. Totally different setting, new weapons, vehicles, maps, music(music plays in vehicles) and shit. I've seen worse.
