Normie! The first two God of War games are...7.5/10. That's still pretty good, but there were far better options of the genre in the era. See: Devil May Cry 1, Devil May Cry 3 (maybe), Ninja Gaiden (definitely), Onimusha DoD. Others claim God Hand too, but I've still not played that one yet. Something to do very soon perhaps.

God of War combat was good but a little weak by comparison, the progression systems very lame, and the level design, while very solid for what it was, was overly linear. Still can't knock it much though as it really was the good kind of overly linear (lots of variety of challenges and settings as it should be, but still, it shouldn't have been THIS railroaded). In general there's is almost no side content too. No challenge rooms or things of that nature, the difficulty modes lacking, not many other weapons and they were kind of made redundant by the OP chains...but whatever the case, still far better than the new god of war trash popamole.
