Gaming Illustrated has posted up a review of IWD2, giving it an 82%. Here's some of it:

IWD2 is not a RTS of course (although RTS fans may find a lot to enjoy in its system of smaller scale battles), and its story, quests, and paths are as meaty as its progenitor?s. The Icewind Dale series is by design more linear and combat-oriented than Baldur?s Gate, so it?s refreshing that the designers added so much RPG richness to the tunnel toward the ultimate bad guys. Non-player characters will react differently based on which party member is speaking to them, a few quests have multiple solutions, and there?s even a good or evil path to choose toward the end of the game. More than the first, IWD2 beckons replay with different characters in order to experience the story?s different branches.

I wouldn't say the different dialogue choices add much "replay" in a largely linear, combat focused game.
