Will there be any human races available? If so, are there any starting specializations and/or specific equipment unique to each race?

e.g. Some nordic barbarian, have a starting specialization in axe weapons, and has a starting equipment of a wooden buckler and a hand-axe.

Anyhow is it Thursday yet? :M :M :M

FOR DIVERSITY BROS

But seriously, I think the starting skills and/or equipment (not stats mind you) can be explained through the lore of the game (Books, Dialogues, etc.).

e.g. Group A is a nomadic group living around the desert fringes of the empire and sustained itself by hunting for food and raiding nearby sedentary pops (starting equipment: weak, light armor and a simple hunting bow skills: greater aptitude in bow)

To prevent stereotyping, it would be cool if ITS implemented some sort of character stat sheet with personal backgrounds which will at least mitigate the problems of having a stereotyped race.

e.g. Group A PC with a background, "Imperial Settler" (lured by richness of the civilized __ state, his barbaric customs were subsumed within the veneer of an imperial citizen) - corresponding decline in archery, better speech/persuasion/whatever, better starting equipment but civilized imperials will look down upon him for his barbarian roots.

Yeah Arcanum's backgrounds were pretty cool (though some sucked, while others were OP).

Yeah the minus stats for equipment/gold ones were pretty unwise to take. Though a roleplayer would probably appreciate quite a few of them and they all gave you fun ideas for character builds.

This.

I hope that VD's slightly less infrequent posting is an indication that the project is nearing completion.
