I've been sitting on this game for a year now.

Did it ever get any really good mods? I want gun porn and realism and difficulty and economy balancing. Do I still have to wait?

Yes, you do. There are a few largish mods but none of them approach the quality of the ones that SoC got.

BTW: Are there any quality mods for any STALKER that fix the mirrored models (obviously along with cocking animation and flying brass)?

i know there are, but i'll be damned if i remember their names (iirc, that russian dude Dester was working on one for CoP that also added quite a bit of attachments to weapons.. unfortunately, he joined the army so the mod is on hold for a couple more months) :)

and most of those that did so for SoC are integrated with one of the huge-ass mods like lurk or the upcoming supermodpack (not 100% sure but i know there is at least one of those ubermods that fixes those things since i remember reading about it, i just don't remember which one) that also add loads of unnecessary shit/bugs, unfortunately

as for the OP: smrtr mod in the next version will add a huge amount of new weapons and some new levels and monsters and stuff. dunno about realism but it's probably worse than vanilla. RCOM (realistic combat overhaul) is promising in that regard and the dude is working on tweaking/rebalancing the economy and adding one or two more levels (iirc the swamps and/or the red forest from CS) that would act as a kind of "dangerous hub without safe bases" between the 3 main levels. project MAIO was also promising with its AI enhancements but it seems it's dead now
