#1 Probert the Probe - poorly done cinematic made by a 14 year old and starring 'Vanilla Ice'
#2 Atlantis RPG - an unfinished map populated by a few ultralisks and zerglings
#3 Ghost Alpha - 3rd person shooter with no shooting animation, enemies, or goal
#4 1,000,000 lings - defense map that only spawns the host and ends before the first wave of zerglings
#5 Final Fantasy - a maze filled with various zerglings and roaches, only references to FF are the title and the 4 player controlled units
#6 Test RPG - a barren map with a few randomely spawning units
#7-20 - uninspired tower defense maps, many of which don't work

Truly SC2's userbase has excellent taste in games, I can really see why this forum loves it so much.

Yes becouse BN 2.0 allows you to find new UMS, and players to those UMS. There is big rage about BN 2.0 popularity system/map uploading etc many people that were making UMs for WC3/SC had announced that they will not make any UMS for SC2 becouse of BN 2.0.

Actually Ghost Alpha was map made for a contest where you had to get not playable UMS map to top 10. It was done to show that popularity system sucks.

There was also a UMS map that had played rick roll video, it was in top 10 as well.

Hmmmm, so what you're saying is that both the player base AND blizzard are retarded. Interesting.

Marine Arena is fairly interesting. Imbalanced towards any player who has basic common sense and knows the unit stats, but still fun.

Rest are all tower defense, standard defense with near-unlimited resources, or"build buildings and watch AI spawn units and fight for itself while you pass the time looking at porn" maps.

What makes player base retarded? You had added popularity to Ghost alpha yourself with the system that Blizzard implemented 99% of people who played this UMS may think that it is unplayable, and it may stay in top20 anyway.

Much as it pains me to reactivate a SC2 thread when there's already a bunch of them, this is the most relevant to the item.

http://eu.blizzard.com/en-gb/community/ ... s/sc2maps/

Apparently, the Blizzard folks are giving out 3 trips to blizzcon and $15k cash to the winners of their mapping competition. I guess they figure the promise of nice cold cash might get mappers cracking. Censorship notwithstanding, the editor is pretty damn flexible. It'll be interesting to see if some of all those proof-of-concept minimods out there get turned into an actual, playable map.

Brood War's community grew naturally, SC2's is being bribed into existance. Fanboys will continue to defend the latter
