Welp, it's something to check out when you get tired of <a href="http://www.greyhawkgame.com">Temple of Elemental Evil</a>'s fantasy turn based combat, I guess.

Well, it's turn based and non-fantasy which earns it points with me, but it's also apparently a bit shit, so yeah.

Damn. All those years of training and living a life full of spirituality, and now they put Paradise in game retailers.

Um..."Advanced 3D graphics engine....REVOLUTIONARY free floating camera?!" Are they serious? Have THEY looked at their own screenshots? Whats revoltionary about a camera that um, like rotates and probably zooms in and out? I don't mean to actually attack the developers, but rather marketing crap that is spewed. Don't mark off 'features' that just aren't true or ridiculous. Be honest and say what the game is...they were fine in pointing out their inspirations. Now I have an idea what to expect from the story. Lots of weapons. Great. Cyber Devices ( aren't they ALL high tech...I mean come on! :) ). Non-linear...excellent.

Oh and they forgot...TurtleBased gameplay...in or OUT of combat. *sigh*

Anyone play it yet?

Cheers

C'mon, Buka was a monster from Tove Jannsson's Moominland books.

It's also Indonesian for 'open'.

Uhhh, yeah. Anyway, I'll be interested in seeing just how open ended this game turns out to be.

yeah, the press release is a bit over the top, and it may suck (although it'd be hard to beat the latest crpg offerings in terms of sucking, TOEE excepted), but whatever, I'll get it sometime after I get tired of ToEE. there's nothing else with lasers and robots and blue haired dude with spiky hair with cyber implants. damn, I'm lowering my standards. turn based squad to boot. unless there is a review from folk I trust with this stuff that completely crushes this game.

Any game with permanant TB has -got- to suck. Were they too lazy to code a real-time 'walk' mode into the game or something? Heck, even Geneforge isn't like that, and it's not exactly got a big budget either.

So even Disciples and Age of Wonders series suck? Most of the time in those games you just run around, fight and click the End Turn button.

I don't really mind all TB. it just depends on how it's implemented. as I understand all action happens inside rather small (by RPG standards) city block sized maps. or, maybe some factories. I don't think you have to click end turn 100000 times just to walk from city A to city B on some BG like overhead map. as long as it's not like that, and there is acttually something to do, strategize, prepare for encounters, talk to NPCs, whatever else, it'll work for me.

btw, Disciples 2 and AoW:SM are great strategy games (but, yes, lots of clicking of end turn). still on my hard drive.

Avernum 1-3 did that.

Actually it's not a bug, it's a feature. This way you'll always feel the danger, as you are a renegade hacker on the run from the law. It's all highly innovative you know.

Proverbius:
Yeah, but Avernum's off-combat mode wasn't really a classic turn-based, since everyone moved at the same time.

I loved Disciples 2 ...

until the second campaign mission when I became the computer's bitch.

Most viciously.

Discp2 was pretty tough as far as similar games go. tough as in you have to find good spell/unit/items/leaders combos and start expanding early. plus, I suspect on higher difficulty levels computer cheats like crazy and has bonuses as well like they always do. it was pretty involving. on average, a map could take me as long as 5 days to complete on the highest difficulty (easier with some races than with others). the demons' campaign was the toughest for me. I just loved the music, the graphics, the feel, everything pretty much... but, we digress, oh yeah, Paradise Cracked (man, if this game is really a flop, the title is just asking for ridicule)

I will be getting this game the moment it hits the shelves. Once I get into the game and see what it is all about I will post my review of the game, though I always had a particular bias for cyberpunk and turn based CRPGs.

I suppose you've got another ninety-four old PSX games in reserve to trade in and bring the price to just under $20 so you can convince yourself you're not giving into these corporate money guzzling bastards or something?

Nah, I only do that to Atari published games.
