I got it for free on Steam because I backed Wasteland 2. I've recently started playing and I'm enjoying it quite a lot. It's not a deep role playing experience by a long shot. It is, however, quite funny and parodies a lot of the cliche fantasy "epic" games/movies/etc. story arcs and situations.

If you backed Wasteland 2 and haven't gotten a chance to play it, I recommend you try it. Play it for the lulz, though.

I think that's the 'time for an upgrade' bug. I have a super computer, so I haven't noticed anything.

In other words, I don't know. No problems here, though.

It has a problem with a certain magical effect seen in cutscenes. The recent patch may have fixed it, but I'm not sure.

Bard's tale is one of my biggest guilty pleasure experiences ever. There's no good reason for me to like it, but still, I like it a lot. Maybe it was because of its weird/dark/comical atmosphere.

I still listen to this song every now and then. It's so ... bardy.

I've had the same slowdown problems mentioned by others, found no way around it. Unplayable when particle effects happen (magic or fire or the like) Even tried inxile support without much luck. There's been a couple of patches since the original trilogy was added in, but there's no patch notes so haven't been game to try it and assume they were fixes for the Original trilogy.

It has a shit gameplay, but the songs and the narrator kick ass.

Yeah Bard's Tale is one of those shitty games that for some reason I enjoyed. The humor had a big part in it and frankly it's the only redeeming attribute of the game.

It seems I was one of the lucky(?) ones that played the game when it came out, without any major hiccups as far as I can remember. Have those of you that experienced slowdowns played the game recently ? Because if so, Dual cores could be the problem. Change the affinity to one core while you're playing the game and see if it helps.

Related to humor, but I'd add Tony Jay and Cary Elwes as redeeming attributes. They manage to make even the staler banter entertaining. It really is one of these games that would've been so much better if it were completely noninteractive.

They made it into a musical RPG? Well, that's something...
