Go is an amazing game. I played it years ago until ~5kyu on kiseidos GO server. ( http://www.gokgs.com/ )
But it would take a truly monocle or asian woman to get into Go.

Ah, we should resurrect the Codex room on KGS. Maybe it will have more than three people this time? I remember pooperscooper also played.

A lot of attractive grils play Go, by the way.

Seconding Twilight Struggle, it's the ultimate monocled couple board game. Are you monocled enough to play 12 hour games with the missus?

I was just about to order Twilight Struggle to play it with the gf, lets see how this is going to turn out.

Had a go yet? I finally strung a winstreak against mine

Ok the game arrived yesterday aaand... I lost the first game. Fuckin kwa... We messed up some of the rules and played til 5am, I guess that this was a contributing factor. I was leading her with 15 points at the begging of the midwar and then I let my guard down and she managed to wipe my progress in a single turn. There's gonna be a remach today for sure.

The game is insanely good btw, she liked it a lot and so did I. It looks like this is one of those games that becomes more interesting as you get better at it.

I think I'm going to get Hannibal too, its from the same guys right?

Anyway :bro: for the recommendation.

I don't know how much you like it, but pitch is about the complexity of cribbage, but much shorter. Games take perhaps 10 minutes and not much brain power. Really good if you just want to kill some time for a bit but don't want to make a big investment. It actually works rather well as a 2-player game.

We played Forbidden Island six or seven times, and we lost every time... But it's fun, she likes it very much.
I bought Dungeoneer but we haven't played it yet. We haven't decided what we'll buy next, there's a lot of options!

She's turning into a geek reeally fast.

I'm looking for a 2-player cooperative game.

The leading contenders are:
-Shadowrift (supposedly cooperative Dominion)
-Flash point (new Firemen board game)

Also, I'm looking for a man vs. nature game. It could be competitive or cooperative, but the central conflict would be focussed around collecting what you need to survive the winter. Failure to properly mitigate natural disasters or wild animal attacks results in needing to triage your family/village. etc.

PS:
I played Arkham Horror once. The setting was cool, but the gameplay itself was not. Don't remember having any interesting choices. Felt like a convoluted version of snakes and ladders.

I also had the 2-player Catan card game. I threw out the cards and kept the dice and tokens. Maybe the expansions fix it, but the game was almost completely devoid of incentives to trade with your opponent, something I consider core to the Catan experience.

I don't know, I just can say Forbidden Island, maybe Pandemic too.

Did you mean Rivals of Catan?
