Unreal Gothic now on Steam

Gothic remake in Unreal engine.

You can activate it with 'TheColonyisNotUnreal' code in Library -> Gothic 1 Classic -> Properties -> Betas

Doesn't work with Polish version, but does with English.

I like it as a novelty but "better" is questionable and it does not even begin to hold a candle to the base game enhanced with the dx11 renderer. It's difficult to see any kind of a point to it.

I'll take this opportunity to ask here... I see that Gothic has Workshop integrated on Steam. There's stuff like Union and the Community Patch. Is it safe to install them through there?

Sometimes stuff has to be installed in a certain order, to avoid conflicts. I'm going to try it though.

The only real appeal I could see to this is that, presumably, the unreal engine makes modding significantly easier. But for that to matter at all, they needed to release this over a decade ago.
