Indeed. I was about 12-13 year old when I played first time this game, crappy Amiga ECS version (later switched to AGA) and to this day I play it and always enjoy it in the same way. It just never gets boring and you always want to play this last one tactical mission :)

Yeah I know & used them, before the new Xcomutil was released. Btw. All those fixes (plus few extra, including difficulty bug that plagues all DOS versions) are included in the newest beta of Xcomutil, try it out.

Let's go. Tank! drives out from Skyranger-1 when suddenly something hits him and explodes... Luzur, Black_Willow, Big Nose George became unconscious!

Guilty found. Tank! tries to punish Sectoid with rocket, but misses. Silellak jumps out and takes down Sectoid by second shot.

Let the UFO assault begin. SV takes down Sectoid with awesome Laser Rifle. Silellak jumps inside and provides cover, same does BUMFACE.

Before end of the turn, our dear BUMFACE sends small rocket into north UFO wall, but no one was there.

Aliens turn. Sectoid hits once SV and wounds him fatally. Since we still don't have any Medikits, SV will die after 10 turns.

In the room on right or in the space of left should be one or two aliens. There is no point in taking risk and sending Silellak to the left side, so we use Rabidredneck as a bait.

It worked out, Rabidredneck spots the Sectoid, which didn't take notice of him. Instead of that he walk around and waste his AP, so Silellak gets there and beats shit out from Sectoid.

Silellak for some reason (stunt damage or maybe I miss something?) get hurt and needs to stay in hospital for six days. SV is in worse condition so he will miss action for a much longer time.

Silellak really deserves his own personal human shield by now. Should relegate him to some kind of sniping position rather then sending him in front when invading a UFO. 77 firing accuracy is pretty badass, thats getting near the perfect aimed shot and his auto shots will hit crazy well even across the map.


Really... I just want him to live till MC so we can see what his psi stats are. :lol:

I bet my resistance will be terrible, in order to lead to Massive Lolz when a Sectoid finally mind controls me and uses my ridiculous accuracy to rip apart the squad.

Honestly I'm a bit disappointed in random UFO shapes, I was hoping UFOs get randomized every battle, or maybe I did something wrong during Xcomutil configuration?

Yar, there's two random floorplan settings: when you hit Y for 'do you want randomised alien ship floorplans' there's a mystic subquestion, something like 'do you want the random alien ships to be random?'. I think it means 'do you want every ship to be random' or along those lines. Otherwise it makes a random floorplan for each shiptype at the start of the game and runs with that.

Your thread inspired me to start a game, but now I'm a bit bummed - I ended up with the same setting as you, and so far all the random floorplans have been... well, random. Not sure what I expected, but it's all long single-tile corridors with tons of single-tile rooms all linked with doors in stupid places.

Not sure if I can switch it to original designs mid-game. Otherwise, oh well never mind. Already torched my entire team to capture the first sectoid leader i came across, so cba to start again.

Anyway. Continue, good sir.

I could've misread your setup screens, but I recall that you set the random floor plan setting to "Once." Meaning that each ufo type would be randomized once at game start and use that layout for the entire game.

Could be wrong, but I'm too damn lazy to look back.

Thanks for the tips guys. I made a little investigation and it seems I need to enable Xcomutil Battlefield Generator to get random interiors every time. Last save game works fine with this change, now I must ensure that UFO get random shapes and interiors...
Strange stuff, after activating BFG the UFOs are not random at all.

In this update I will use difrent filtering, tell me if you like it or not. Also from now we will have standard UFO shapes and interiors until I sort out how to make random ones work properly.

General Stores, Heavy Lasers are completed and Laser Cannons. Now we can have Laser tanks and we are going to get one. I skip Laser Defences and go for Medikits now, to many times we needed them in action.

Another UFO gets shot-down easily. Yet, this one will be different from others because...

Like before, Tank! gets shot few times in the butt, without damage. Tank! tries to find source but can't so he hides by Skyranger-1 front wheels. Rest of the team waits inside craft.

Luzur has his first opportunity to shot an Floater. He manages to strike Floater once, so Tank! send Auf Wiedersehen missile.
LazyD covers Luzur from the west side, Black_Willow is close to the wheel, after sucky Flare throw. Big Nose George goes to the second building alone.

Second Alien turn. Tank! is destroyed with one shot in the back. Damn. Later on we hear some doors opening/closing.

Big Nose George enters the building and kills Floater with Autoshot. First blood! He retreats to the small room and hides behind corner.

Luzur and LazyD are on the search of Floater that took down Tank! Aliens turn passes in silence, probably there is two more of them.

Luzur enters the stairs and yup, there he is the Floater. Two shots and he won't fly again. Krraloth goes around the building, wielding his loyal Laser Pistol.

Since Black_Willow is safe from getting sniped, he travels towards the crashed UFO. Rabidredneck leaves Skyranger-1 and covers south part of the map.

Not much happens during our turn. Luzur goes up to take sniping position on roof. Big Nose George covers steps, LazyD takes advantage of his Laser Gun and makes shortcut by destroying piece of wall.

Some Terror Ship start flying around Europe. I tried to take it down, but one Interceptor was not enough (second was on patrol, far away). Odly, Terror Ships flees after sometime... let's hope he didn't find out location of Codexia.
