Gah, go through the savegame with notepad++ or something similar. Provinces per themselves do not storage supply/fuel, that's only in HoI3 but depots are created automatically, one per continent/island that are separated from the capital. There must be shipping or land route between capital and all provinces or they are fucked. The stats of the supply depots can be edited in the savegame, can't remember where, though, its been a while.

In the May Day of 1940, we received news we couldn't believe at, scattered claims that all across the world, enemies from outer space began to attack, reports of three-legged machines of destruction that seemed unstoppable, of soldiers in metallic armors that no small arms could defeat, and of legions of men with blanks in their eyes and souls, like an army of living dead that arose to support these supposed invaders.



What we were certain of, is that, the Germans became even more ferocious than before, and perhaps now, they could no longer have the luxury of wasting too much time to crush our army as if a great threat began to invade the German territories from the west. It could be a very faint evidence that such rumors were true, for nothing else would explain the sudden spike in the desperation of the Wehrmacht to inflict a lasting defeat against our forces. We knew we couldn't win anymore, but we have for a long time made the decision to fight to the end and refuse surrender.



And thus the most ominous month in the still ongoing Second World War has begun. We knew that the enemy would now become restless and brutal. We know that we were on the brink of defeat, and we know that no matter the cost, we would as long as necessary and hope that these rumors on a new threat invading were true, forcing the Wehrmacht to fall back to protect their homeland. However, some of us considered the loss of Poland not as terrible as the threat of the destruction of humanity, and hoped those rumors were fake. Eventually, eventually, we would discover, if we manage to survive.



I just took this screenshot to show the wonderful mess the AI did to several Polish land units while I loaded the game with the aliens to declare war on everyone, and I had to manually assign leaders all over again...





Due to the fact a General can't launch an attack with more than 9 divisions, some divisions in Stryj are relocated.



Thanks to the idiotic AI fucking up the entire organization of the divisions in Zamosc with idiotic shuffling to the worst possible leaders, the Germans attack. But let's pretend it was going to happen anyway to avoid breaking immersion. So time to LARP things like it was done before instead of making bland gameplay comments.

: In the end, does it matter? We will be losing this war anyway. The Allies did nothing, the Germans outnumber our forces at more than 3:1 and have superior weaponry. Will it make a difference how long we stood before defeat?

: It could make a very significant difference, if the Allies weren't such pussies, now, if those rumors are true.



Kowel, only lightly defended, will be lost, it cannot be avoided. Poland has less men than they should ideally have to have a chance of holding their ground. All that could be done was to buy time before the seemingly inevitable last stand in Grodno, Baranowicze and Luminiec.





: Do you think Germany would still be attacking us if a threat from outer space began to invade their territory?

: Perhaps they think they could crush us quickly enough to fall back. Thus, if they are real rumors and those news aren't late April Fools jokes, the more we hold our ground, the weaker Germany shall become, and eventually, they will have to choose between crushing us and letting their country be destroyed or retreating from Poland to defend themselves against this new threat.

: That supposing this "alien invasion" is a reality.





The Battle of Wizna was definitively over as Germans occupied the region. Poland was in an increasingly dire situation and the supposed alien invasion didn't give any short term benefits to Poland, so far. If anything, it only made things worse by pressing the Germans to be even more aggressive to finish off Poland before the supposed invaders could overrun and take control of Berlin.



Kowel is secured by the forces retreating from Zamosc.



Another desperate deal for metal is made. Poland needs resources for their remaining factories to be able to sustain their army with supplies.

: How long until our coffers dry out? We can't keep importing resources at this rate for much longer.

: We will reach either the turning point of this conflict or ultimate defeat first than running out of money to compensate our resource scarcity.

: And even if we have a miracle and win, we'll still be on the verge of bankrupcy.

: We shall do whatever it costs to defend our land.



Suwalki is secured, for now. This battle however, would not end so soon.



Bielsk must be secured due to how it is a highly defensible terrain and a hell of a place for panzers to cross, probably worse than mountains.



: We must defend Stryj, send reinforcements! Immediately!

: We can't risk our forces to the south being cut-off, and we will have to abandon the strategy of concentrating forces and forsaking some territories to favor counter-attacks, but letting them come through this corridor might, eventually, give an opportunity of encirclement.

: Madness!

: This is Poland!







Battles that can't be won shouldn't be fought. Such has been the policy of Poland under WhiskeyWolf command. It has been beneficial, but at the same time, it highlighted a bleak perspective on the null chances of winning this war. The goal now was to buy as much time as possible before amassing the defenders next to the borders of the Hitman's home country, and hope that if something was attacking Germany, such attack would be fruitful and force the Germans to severely reduce their massed presence in Poland. On another note, an attempt to take control of Konigsberg and encircle German troops trying to occupy Memel would soon be made.





Poland hasn't given up Bielsk yet. Meanwhile, a brutal attack is launched against Stanislawow to the south. The Polish forces lie on the brink of defeat, threatening to open a salient that could imply the end for Poland. The battle for Stanislawow seemed to be favoring the enemy, and defeat appeared a matter of time.

"Hence we will not say that Poles fight like heroes, but that heroes fight like Poles."



Brave men courageously sneaked against tanks. It was one of the most brutal battles that happened in 1940. A massive counter-attack was launched from Lvov to relief the defenders.



Cavalry with anti-tank weapons fought bravely against the might of the German Panzers.



And like in all epic battles fought by Poland, a duel of bayonets also featured the final moments in the battle of Stanislawow.



With incredible bravery, Poland has held Stanislawow and turned the tide of a battle where defeat seemed unavoidable, proving to the Germans that their desperation to crush them would not be a good sign, and that perhaps, Poland could survive until September, standing for an entire year against a completely superior enemy. If the aliens were a hoax, for if they aren't, things in the 1st of September of 1940 would be radically differente from how they were in last year's 1st of September.



Meanwhile, the enemy advances against Kowel. This requires radical decisions to ensure they won't be able to cut off the southern forces.







There are no chances for the defenders of Plinks and Brest-Litovsk. It becomes clear that the strategy of amassing troops instead of spreading them for defense won't be effective anymore.



: Is this a sick joke? After all the sacrifices to defend Stanislawow, are you going to simply abandon it?

: We can't risk letting the enemy split our forces and two and leave almost half of our army without supplies! We had to defend Stanislawow to buy more time! Now we can't, we need to...

: Abandon our people? This is cowardice! I demand you leave at least one division defending Stanislawow!

: You must be kidding. Do you think one division can make a difference? We are fighting against an enemy that outnumbers our forces at more than three to one! We will have to make further sacrifices if we are to defend the remnants of free Poland for as long as possible.

: Defeat is inevitable, we should at least lose with honor.

: There is no honor in forcing our men to be split, massacred and encircled. We will fight with honor, to the last man, once it comes to the time only Grodno remains, but we must ensure we won't lose any forces due to encirclement until then.





Meanwhile, the battle for Bielsk proceeded.






Bielsk is secured, however, there is one thing WhiskeyWolf still didn't give up at.



Buying more time by forcing enemy forces to retreat.

The Battle for Grodno





The attempt to take Konigsberg fails. Suwalki is threatened now, and if Grodno falls, it will all be over for Poland.







After a brutal battle, Suwalki is lost. There is nothing to be done. The future of Poland is bleak.



Meanwhile, massive counter-offensives force the German troops at Kowel to retreat. As long as they can be tied up trying to secure Kowel, more time can be bought to delay the seemingly inevitable defeat. But will, after all this struggle for survival, after so many glorious battles with outstanding examples of bravery, Poland end doomed regardless? Is history so jaded, so cynical that they don't deserve a minimal chance of victory, after almost a year fighting against the German threat?

: You won't believe this, but we received confirmed reports that the French are launching a massive offensive through Belgium, which recently joined the Allies, to avoid the Siegfried line and using sheer numbers to break through the Siegfried at the same time! They have secured Essen and Cologne already and have won a battle for Saarbrucken!

: If you are serious, this is the greatest irony I could ever fathom for this war since our "blitzkrieg" through East Prussia last year. Can you really confirm this? If this is real, then we may have yet a minnow chance of turning the tide of this war.



: It is true, here, look at these reports! The French have nearly bypassed the Siegfried line already! Considering that intelligence suggests that more than fifty percent of the Wehrmacht is busy trying to defeat us, this could be the miracle we waited for: The French stopping behaving like pussies.

: If only they did this three months earlier... now it could be too late. But I'll do what I can to halt the massive Germany Army attacking us while the French Army races for Berlin! Hopefully this will relief us by forcing them to fall back or reduce their numbers to meet the French.





The Germans still failed at securing Kowel.



While the Polish Home Army continues with their heroic defense of Poland, the French invasion of Germany through Belgium proceeds. WhiskeyWolf, knowing how things would have happened without his intervention in the past, is very amused about the biting irony of France beginning an invasion of Germany through Belgium in May of 1940. Hopefully, the Polish forces would be able to hold on long enough now, as Germany, despite having powerful forces, was in a very difficult situation, having to fight a two-front war, without any decisive victories in either of them.



However, if Grodno fell, the fact France finally decided to go through the Napoleon's way wouldn't matter anymore. Thus, the most legendary battle fought by Poland in 1940 has begun. A battle in the forests of Grodno, brutal, unforgiving, and where, like in Stanislawow, the Germans seemed to have their victory assured.



This time, men, women, trannies and elder men, and all refugees coming from north and west, supported the battle. It was one of the most brutal engagements ever fought, where the separation between civilian and military was not always very clear. Against all odds, they held Grodno against a large Wehrmacht force that had superior weaponry and training for long enough for the strongest Polish unit to arrive. Six infantry divisions with complementary artillery brigades rained shells at the advancing Germans, supported by partisans and freedom fighters acting as scouts.





It was a very fierce and brutal battle. Even with the support of six artillery brigades, the sheer technological superiority of the Wehrmacht still weighed against them.



The engagement lasted for more than 24 hours. The Bielski BROS did their part during this extremely tough battle, leaders of the Partisans who stood against the enemy invaders.



And thus, against all odds, the battle of Grodno was won, and the future of Poland was secured for a few more months. The demonstrations of heroism in Grodno and Stanislawow have given hope to the people, who haven't witnessed such victories since the end of the winter. There was still hope, even if it was a very faint hope.



Meanwhile, Kowel continues to be continually harrassed, as the Germans fail at securing it. The same strategy will also be utilized against Pinsk. It is know that many forces among the Poles are understrength, even if the survivors are among the most hardened veterans in history, having fought against better equipped and numerically superior enemies nearly nonstop for almost a year now. These diversionary attacks aren't decisive, but necessary to buy time for Poland while France regains the spirit of Napoleon.







And thus, both Pinsk and Kowel become traps, following with the idea of the "Polish corridor", which to be performed in its full glory however, would require for Poland to have at least ninety divisions.



Then, Bielsk is threatened, as it becomes clear that it can't be defended properly at the current situation, where the enemy could launch multiple attacks against it from five provinces.



However, Bielsk won't be given up without a fight, and meanwhile, Kowel remains disputed.





After an entire day, the situation at Bielsk becomes clear, and yet, an heroic resistance still haven't toppled.



Poland has survived yet another month in this seemingly hopeless war, while Bielsk was still disputed in the late night of the 1st day of June. There is little to be done now, besides holding them off as long as possible.



By the dawn of the 1st of June, the Battle of Bielsk, which lasted for three days, was over. The Germans have gained ground even more, and the hope was dwindling across the still freed territories of Poland, innocent or skeptical to an even direr happening across the rest of the world. Poland fought some of the most legendary battles since 300 Spartans held Thermopylae, but now, it was almost over. Except that, unlike what WhiskeyWolf wondered, it was not Poland that was almost over, but World War Two. The Germans were slowly realizing the high risk they were taking by trying and failing at crushing Poland fast enough, while France invaded Germany from the west. And finally, intelligence reports arrived, confirming that the rumors were reality.



: Let me start by the situation at Spain. The region around Tarragona has been reported as bleached from all life and humanity, as the powerful alien forces occupy it. They haven't advanced past the region yet in Spain, and all attacks against them have been shrugged off, with nearly no survivors coming back to tell what happened. Apparently, their soldiers are coming from the orbit, and there is no certainty on how many of them could be above our planet, and whether the forces that landed are all of them or if there could be even more preparing for a second wave of assaults.

: I don't know whether to be happy because this may force the Germans out of our country or sad because this could mean the end of the human race, of Britney Spears, of 360 Achievements, of


: What are you saying?

: Nevermind.





: In Dover, these invaders also haven't yet launched their offensive fully, although the battle reports are staggering. There are claims from survivors that their foot soldiers use body armor that can only be defeated with anti-tank rifles and small arms and machineguns are completely useless against them, and that only heavy artillery can damage their vehicles.

: This doesn't sound good. Why didn't they attack yet? Could it be that they are waiting for a second wave coming from orbit? Maybe they launched an initial wave only to gauge the strength of human armies, and the worst is still to come.

: Perhaps, I don't like this at all. If these reports are true, Germany is no longer our greatest worry, and eventually, they'll realize conquering us won't be their greatest worry any longer.

: Eventually, for now we'll have to hold them off as long as we can. What about the other reports?



: In Germany, these, things, they have mobilized massive numbers in Münster. Like in Spain and England, they seem to be waiting for something before launching a full scale attack. I don't like it at all.

: Wait a minute! Maybe France is launching this offensive not to halt Germany, but to end in a better defensible position against these invaders!

: Maybe, but regardless, we'll have to end this Second World War. These enemies haven't declared war against us, they have declared war against humanity! We cannot simply keep fighting and let they advance with impunity!

: The Germans apparently don't care about humanity. They want to take us down, probably because we humiliated their forces in East Prussia in the beginning of the war. I don't think a cease-fire will come soon. I'm worried it'll take at least one to two months for the Germans to finally realize that unless they get out of Poland soon, their country will be crushed, and we'll have to defend ourselves until then. And what are these aliens doing outside of Europe?





: A pirate radio in United States west coast kept broadcasting the same loop over and over for days, until it was finally silenced. This radio was simply broadcasting a man shouting in a crazy manner: "I TOLD YOU 30 DAYS AGO ITZ COMING TO KWANZANIA!" continually. I don't know what sort of man would do that.

: It's like that thing Cleve was talking about.

: What?

: Nevermind. So what is the situation in the Amerikwan West Coast?

: Most of the United States West Coast has been conquered by a massive ground force. The National Guard stood no chance against them. According to the reports these beings have superhuman strength, where bulky and massive armors and shoot beams of light from their eyes that can kill anyone instantly. Considering how much of the United States they have conquered in only one month, they are a very serious threat. Meanwhile, it's not the only point in America where they landed.





: Another force is stationed in the city of Buenos Aires, in Argentina. Il Duce of Argentina, 1eyedking has been missing since the invasion, presumedly captured by the aliens for God knows what purposes. I'd rather not think much about it.

: Is that all for now in America? What about the other continents?



: A quite succesful landing happened in Egypt, and have expanded already in the middle of the desert. I suspect their goal is to seize the Middle East and the Suez, but they aren't exactly human so we can't really predict their mindset. That is all happening in Africa.

: And what should the bunker of Cleveland Mark Blakemore be prepared for?



: Now this is the real deal. These aliens have sent only a small force of massive walking Tripods in Australia, but according to reports, this force is far more powerful than everything else being fought. Be those bombers and interceptors they have that apparently can travel around the world in minutes and are all but unbeatable by even the most advanced aircrafts we have, or their infantrymen as well armored as a light tank, at least. No, these forces in Australia really are frightening. They have defeated ten divisions single-handledly, and nothing truly seems to be able to put a dent at them.

: I hope we won't have to face one of those, whatever those things are. And what about Asia? You said this is literally an invasion against the entire world.





: Another successful landing. Vladivostok has been the first target, and now they are sweeping through Manchuria with little resistance. Their rate of advance is worrying.

: And what have our analysts managed to conclude from the scattered information about these new invaders that are yet to reach Poland?

The Last 30 Days of the Second World War






Good night and welcome to the News at 11 Radio Show, bringing News at 11 for you, now for the latest news. Undisclosed sources within the French and British military have given information about the scout reports in the alien occupied regions of Munster and Wilhelmshaven. According to these reports, one of the most gigantic offensive forces every witnessed in the story of this world is amassing to launch an attack against an yet undetermined target. These sources have claimed that such force may surpass or even in numbers the German armies, and as the reports already indicate each of their infantrymen is almost as difficult to be taken down as a light tank, the future of Germany, France, Belgium and Netherlands hangs at balance, yet Hitler insists upon conquering Poland, while the French Army have occupied Essen and Cologne, to make positions against the greater threat, and race for Dortmund.



It is becoming clearer and clearer that Poland would need twice the number of soldiers to be able to properly hold ground on a front with such a size, and yet, due to the distribution of industries, the last stand in Grodno would indeed be a last stand, for without enough industries, the soldiers would starve without supplies.



But being severely outnumbered and understrength, there is nothing to do besides retreating.



And striking back. Kowel was, for now secured, but there would be, yet, a steep price to take it. A risky maneuver.

: We can yet retake Brest-Litovsk, and we won't be able to hold out in the south, but we may yet cross enough of a gap to liberate Warsaw.



: MAY.

: We can't hold a front as large as this one, with as little in natural defenses right now. When we lost East Prussia, any chance of turning the tide without risking all or nothing was gone. If we just sit on defenses, we'll lose now. We need to buy time by attacking and breaking through sections of the German front.



: You're putting the entire front at risk!

: I'll not await defeat.





And thus, the daring plan of WhiskeyWolf was, at first, successful. However, wisely, he awaited for the forces to recover organization before heading for Suwalki to retake it.



For otherwise it would be pointless to bother.





Meanwhile, Kowel is once again liberated. Poland's delicate situation can't be sufficiently measured. Once they lose too much in territories with industries, their defeat will become inevitable. Great events have shaken the world, but for Poland, the only immediate reality for now was that of the impending and seemingly inevitable defeat. The Germans refuse to fall back to defend their own territory from invasion, despite a noticeable drop in their morale. The Fuhrer wanted Poland down, and in his madness, he ignored the pleas of his wiser generals to fall back and leave Poland for later. Some ended in tortured and dead for suggesting to make peace with the Allies as a far greater threat approach, but nevertheless, Hitler refused to let the fact a gigantic alien invasion marched towards Berlin interfere in his original aims for Poland.



While the Polish Army became unable to mount an effective defense, despite having mild success in many offensives, Germany was split in two by the Xenu, and reports began to appear about how the Netherlands were being invaded as well by a gigantic horde of technologically superior enemies.

: This is wrong! We can't keep fighting while the future of man is threatened!



: Hitler refuses to negotiate. He seems very convinced to prefer seeing his dream into ruins than making peace with the Allies.

: London lies on the verge of falling! Most of southern England has fallen. These invades are conquering with a speed never seen before in history, all accross the world, if these reports are accurate. Why would Hitler refuse peace at such circumstances?

: I'll have to contact a friend from Lithuania, but it will take a few weeks for this friend to help us more than you could ever think about.

Battle of Kowel



The Battle of Kowel was one of the bloodiest battle fought in the history of the Second World War, second only to the battles of Radom and Kielce. Involving nearly five hundred thousand soldiers from both sides, it was the epitome of Polish bravery.



Although the first wave was successfully defeated, soon, a new wave of attackers would come. Meanwhile, the audacious plan General WhiskeyWolf executed reached its most critical stage.

The southern front was being temporarily forsaken. A race for Warsaw and for the recapture of East Prussia would begin, and perhaps, if allowed by a miracle, the largest encirclement in the history of this war since the capture of Memel in September 1939. However, such matters were perhaps trite and frivolous compared to the far greater threat of the maleficent alien race.



: War is not a chess table! You can't just sacrifice territory like that! That is insane, it won't work at all!

: It's our last hope. Operation Tear of a White Eagle didn't suceed. This will be our last operation. I don't know what name to give to it.







: The operation proceeds smoothly. Brest-Litovsk will be liberated. Our forces are almost reaching it.





: Congratulations!



The battle of Kowel, initiated as a German counter-strike that ruined the last Polish Operation, would reach its climax of nonstop fighting, lasting for two days.



Exhausted, severely understrength and disorganized, the Polish forces around Kowel were surrounded by the Germans, while Suwalki was apparently secured.



They were ready to fight to the bitter end while reinforcements arrived from the east, and the enemy became more and more ferocious.









The conditions of the place were quickly deteriorating.





When the encirclement was broken, as the Polish flag still hanged proudly over the large hill, the Germans launched a brutal, deadly assault against the weary defenders.







The battle of Kowel was won.



Meanwhile, the recovery of Bielsk begins.





With Suwalki secured, a new, risky offensive against East Prussia begins.



The forces on Kowel have at the same time a large chance of being encircled and of encircling a large quantity of enemies. The latter is attempted. If it doesn't work, a strategic redeployment will be necessary to save them.

It didn't work... the south was lost, but trains have transported the twenty-nine divisions away before they could be encircled. The remaining industries could no longer cope with the supply needs of the Polish Army. Defeat was going to be inevitable now. The offensive on East Prussia also was cancelled.



The end is near now. Very little remains.

: Congratulations! Our army will starve and have to fight with swords now!

: I think I may have to disband the more obsolete units, like the cavalry. But considering the world situation, it doesn't seem so needed, yet.

: How not? Everybody will die and defeat shall become inevitable. Unless...



: Poland is not the only country on the verge of defeat right now, Marshall. And Hitler still refuses peace with our country to bring the German army back to their homeland to defend it. But that will be solved soon. My friend from Lithuania is arriving in Munich in four days. We can't keep with this war. It is clear that these invaders, wherever they came from, they pose a far greater threat not only to our nation, but to the human race. We may yet have to fight... together with the Germans against them.

: That is not a funny joke.



: The situation is getting worse and worse. New invasions happened in the Far East, London may be lost at any moment, and I didn't even mention the situation in the most industrially powerful nation of the world.



: But? To fight together with the men who killed our soldiers and our people?

The Last Battle of Suwalki became the last battle fought in the history of the Second World War.

The mysterious figure, apparently hired by both Polish intelligence operatives and by the dissenting Prussian Military elite, have been claimed as the author of Hitler's assassination last night. During the turmoil of such event, which happened after the loss of most German national territory to the aliens, a new government has been launched under Operation Valkyrie. Headed by Tom Kreiz, the new fascist leaders of Germany have publicly declared willingness to negotiate peace with the Allies on behalf of fighting against the "enemy of humanity", surprising the world, after Hitler's former inflexible stance of refusing peace. However, considering the reports on the situation, it may be too late now for Germany. With most of their Army advancing against the still resisting Polish military, by the time they return, Germany could already be completely overwhelmed by the aliens.



In related news, tonight we have lost contact with the last correspondents in the West Coast. Scattered reports affirm that the alien invasion have completely taken the United States west coast and now the mid-west is under threat of being completely occupied, while the National Guard and the Army are mobilizing to defend our nation. An emergency draft legislation is coming through the Congress as of now. Hundreds of thousands of refugees are swarming from the west, the situation is dire, but we must not give up under these trying times.

Well, it was fun while it lasted.

I suggest you simply load the game as the United Kingdom, pause immediately, type in 'acceptal'l cheat, and then propose a peace to the Germany, and propose an alliance to every single nation. With this cheat active, every diplomatic offer will be accepted. UK by doing this will probably run out of cash though, so you might need to use the 'money' cheat too. Then save the game, and load it as Poland again.

As of Hitler, you can edit the Save game, or load the game as Germany type in the 'freedom' cheat, and move the Authoritarism slider towards the Democracy side and also one notch towards political left, then Germany will become Market Liberal nation, and its head of state will probably be good ol' Kaiser Wilhelm II. Alternatively, when loading the game as the UK and having 'acceptall' cheat active, go to espionage tab and stage a coup in Germany.

The Illusion of Peace



As the Germans found a new enemy, an enemy powerful enough to threaten overrunning their entire territory, it became clear for them that pursuing the conquest of Poland further would mean their doom. And thus, in such dire situation for humanity, a brief time of peace for Poland could yet happen.

Sooner or later, however, we would no longer be spectators to such events, like many were while our nation was being invaded. After all, such peace would be only an illusion.

1st of July of 1940, a day which will enter in the history of Poland and of the world. In the castle of Grodno, the president of Poland, Kazimierz Sosnkowski, have a week ago, scheduled a meeting between him, Winston Churchill and Albert Lebrun, and yesterday, the new German head of State, Tom Kreiz, has also agreed to attend to such meeting. The objective of the meeting was to negotiate the complete cessation of hostilities between the Allies and the Axis, in face of the far greater threat from outer space that arrived in the middle of the war. After the typical formalities, including a banquet, the discussion began at about ten o' clock, during the night. Sosnkowski was interested only in a white peace, and cared not about Denmark, or about the pussies in Czechoslovakia, for had they dared to challenge the German might instead of giving Sudetenland, Poland would have intervened in their support and the death toll of the conflict would have been far smaller.

Meanwhile, Churchill wanted for Germany to leave their occupation of the Czech Republic, including Sudetenland, and of Denmark, while Lebrun wanted not only that, but also that Germany should revert the Anchluss of Austria and allow for a democratic pro-Allies government to assume Austria. It was a heated discussion, with, despite their dire situation, Tom Kreiz insisting that Danzig would have to remain in German hands. The translators were having a hard time.

23:00, 1st of July of 1940

: I believe there is no point in trying to push further the demands of the Fourth Reich while this threat looms. Very well, We have agreed to give up Danzig immediately, and to leave Denmark and to leave all of the former Czech territory except for the Sudetenland free to become a fully independent State, once this conflict with the alien threat is over, but the Anchluss of Austria has been supported by the people of Austria, and we will not back down in this matter.

: I fully agree with the terms of this treaty. This is not the time to argue about territorial agreements while the future of Earth is at stake.

: I am disappointed on the necessity of sacrificing the sovereignty of a few countries under these circumstances, but continuing this war will be harmful to the human race. I hope you shall honor your promise to leave the occupation of Denmark and of the Czechs territory without large Germanic populations once this conflict is over.

: While London is besieged by these nightmarish enemies, I cannot refuse to sign this agreement. The Battle of Poland is over, and with it, so shall be over this war. If not strictly cooperating, we must at least not fight each other to have a chance in the Battle for Earth.

And thus, the Treaty of Grodno was signed, officially ending the Second World War, after a brutal conflict for Poland that lasted for ten months, where against all odds, the Polish Army held back the Wehrmacht, at a cost, for both sides, that have surpassed two millions of military casualties, reminiscing the bloody times of the Great War.

Now, the Wehrmacht forces over Poland began a rapid deployment back to their threatened Fatherland, as a faint hope that it was not yet too late to stop the alien onslaught over Germany existed. The persecutions and Einsatzgruppen against Jews, trannies, fags, niggers, gypsies and other victims of the previous Reich was also ended as part of the treaty, and because the new government lacked the same hatred against such groups Hitler did. Had the people of Poland failed to resist as long as they did, their sovereignty, under such circumstances, could be forever doomed.





There would be months before the devastation of war could be repaired. Meanwhile, in Kielce, ground of the second bloodiest battle of 1939, eyewitnesses claimed sighting of unidentified flying objects moving at impressively fast speeds, far beyond anything human airplanes could achieve.





Preparing for the worst, the Polish Home Army begins a deployment towards the border with Germany, while in Poznan, sightings of formations of what could be hundreds of UFOs are seen. Meanwhile, a mysterious letter without identified sender arrives to the government of Poland, addressed to the president himself. After checking for any chemical or biological weapons inside it and realizing it was safe, Sosnkowski received the letter. Unwrapping it, he finds a grainy photograph with the image of a saucer-shaped object over the ground and of an armored vehicle behind it with two soldiers.



Below the image, there was an inscription, written in Polish: "Vladivostok, 2nd of May of 1940."

Dismissing that as possibly misinformation, the president proceeded through his busy day as Poland was being rebuilt, and their battered and understrength divisions being reinforced with new recruits and modernized.





The British have given reports on their first naval engagement with these invaders. According to the reports, the only reason the Allied fleets weren't completely massacred was the visible ineptness of the alien fleet, which although far more technological than the Allied ones, and packing ray guns capable of vaporizing most of the shells fired against their highly advanced ships, these aliens were totally unable to perform proper naval tactics, as if it was the first time they have ever tried to engage an enemy through the seas. When several saucer-shaped aircrafts left from what was assumed to be one of their carriers, however, half of the allied forces were massacred in the middle of rays of light. It was also in this battle that the amphibious nature of the Tripods was discovered.



Netherlands have mostly fallen to the alien menace. Against all odds, the French have demonstrated immense bravery in face of the enemy. According to the reports, anti-tank rifles were being mass-produced, as it was hoped that they would hold long enough for every infantry squad to have one, for only anti-tank rifles packed enough punch to pierce the power armors of the alien foot soldiers. Also, British corporate lobbying pushed Poland further towards the Ron Paul Libertarian dreams, which would be completely beneficial as the freer the market, regardless of failures, the faster divisions could be built and modernized.





There was a serious worry when the reports about the war efforts in Germany came. The aliens were dangerously close to have direct land border with Poland, and the Polish Home Army didn't arrive back to the original borders yet. There was only one thing to do, hope for the best.





They came. The threat now knocked the gates of Danzig, and the border settlements could witness the looming silhouettes of the fearful Tripods from a distance. They were defenseless, time was running out. This could be the end of the so short lasted peace Poland had. Hundreds of German refugees from Stettin ran towards Poland, having nowhere else to run, reporting the nightmares: civilians were turned into dust as the ray guns of the massive alien war machines struck them down, there was widespread panic and chaos, and the death toll could be already in the hundreds of thousands, if the witnesses were right. Although few compared to the average and also feared foot soldiers of the invaders, these machines have become the most known element of this new enemy.



Although unofficially and not sanctioned by the victims of the invasions, many countries began fighting in a global scale war against the invaders in the territories of other nations. However, there was little hope for the few Italian marines that landed in Valencia. They would not return to their homes. Meanwhile, the Spanish defense against the invasion has been arguably heroic. However, it was not only Spain that would show signs of heroism during these dark times.



For a time, Poland was expecting for the French to meet a quick defeat against the hordes of undead human corpses and aliens that advanced against Belgium, however, against all odds, not only has Poland survived through the Second World War, but also the French Army did contradict their fame for the second time since they began the invasion of Germany. Their defense of Belgium has been the most heroic struggle in the Battle of Earth so far. For the battle of Luxembourg, it took the combined effort of almost a million of soldiers to have a chance against less than forty thousand Xenos. And in the end, it would proved itself insufficient.

Poland, on the other hand, preferred to not fight in this war and hope others would buy at least enough time for their armies to regain full strength once again, and for them to be modernized at least to 1939 standards. For fortunately, the Germans managed to retake Stettin. It was ironic, perhaps, that the people of Poland now were siding with the Germans.



About two months and half have passed since the first landings of the Xenos, as they'd end being called by most European countries, in Earth. Their invasion has met little success in Spain, and considering the numbers involved, Europe wasn't their most succesful battleground as well. Unfortunately, the same wasn't happening in the rest of the world, and despite slowed down, their advance definitively did not stop, and a dreadfully large amount of Tripods have been reported in Southern England as well.

Meanwhile, Poland negotiates a deal with England to trade their arguably ahead of time tactical insight for some technologies, as the rebuilding of the industries in Poland has allowed for the Polish ministry of science to conduct three researches simultaneously, once again. Improvements in logistics are chosen for research.



Meanwhile, a worrissome fact becomes obvious when the studies on how many men will be necessary to reinforce the entire army appears. Poland lost hundreds of thousands of soldiers in the war against Germany, and now, the remaining able-bodied men were insufficient to supply all their divisions. Thus, a very difficult choice would have to be made. Some patriots would have to be disbanded, for their time in warfare was now over, specially against such type of enemy that was coming.







Their contribution to the defense of Poland, however, would never be forgotten, and eventually, eventually, they would return to become once again a decisive element in the defense of Poland.



That, provided humanity survives long enough for Poland to research and launch their first combat helicopters and innaugurate the first air cavalry divisions of the world, of course.



By the end of August, the French managed to achieve the impossible, by holding the tide of the enemy invasion, despite suffering heavy losses. When it became clear that the enemy could be held, even when holding them wouldn't work for much time and required immense sacrifices, the morale of the French was greater than ever. Of course, the fact the aliens were fighting a multiple-front war in Europe also was a minor aid to the fact their advance was almost being stopped. But stopping them seemed all but impossible.



One year since the beginning of the war, in 1st of September of 1940, the Polish invented something that could give an edge against the foot soldiers of the alien invaders.



Poland developed and began the manufacture of the first practical rocket propelled grenades in history, capable of punching through the side and rear armor plating of modern tanks, and definitively powerful enough to take down the power armors of alien foot soldiers, while being more compact and simpler to carry than anti-tank rifle. Together with it, better equipment and artillery systems were also developed for the Polish infantrymen, who would eventually become the most technologically advanced infantrymen of the world, for a little while.



Meanwhile, the Huge ITZ also came to much of the United States Midwest, and Amerikwa's situation was almost definitively apocalyptic.



Both to increase the chances of the world stopping such invasion, and to improve the situation of Poland regarding resources and technology, the blueprints of all the recent inventions of Poland regarding equipment for infantry divisions were sold to every ally of Poland. Of course, some made better offers for it than others, but they could buy from the others if Poland didn't make the deal right now.



Considering how many hundreds of thousands of young men have given their lives so Poland would remain a sovereign country right now, it was time to invest into elite forces that, led by Commando generals, will perform better than average infantrymen. All factors analyzed, from now on, investing in more quality divisions to use better the remaining manpower of Poland was the only logical choice.



Like the Italians, the French also attempted to fight the enemy on a global scale. And like the Italians, the reports claim all French soldiers who landed on the lifeless wreckage of Shangai were completely slaughtered. China was almost completely conquered, for unlike in Europe, the alien advance through it has occurred in an incredibly fast pace.



In 9th of September, Rotterdam, the last territory of the Netherlands still not conquered by the aliens, fell. For some like Chefejager and nomask, it would be good news, as it probably meant that Thrash would never be born. But it was, regardless of sodomites living on welfare there and of train tickets, a tragedy. Dutch soldiers however still fought together with the French in the defense of Belgium and in the faint hopes of liberated Amsterdam, capital of Denmark.



Australia has been completely massacred by the Tripods. A massive evacuation of civilians was being made since August. Meanwhile, in the beginning of September, the evacuation of Britain has begun, as it became clear that their chances were small, and all they could do was to buy time for the civilians to leave. In the end, not even a bunker could perhaps hold such devastation.





While the evacuation of Britain was ongoing, the enemy secured all of the Southern England and Cardiff was about to fall. The hundreds of thousands defending London wouldn't be able to hold for much longer against such dread menace. Unlike in most of the world, the invaders sent a far greater quantity of tripods against England.





The French launch daring assaults to retake Antwerp and Luxembourg. Despite heavy losses, they persist against such far more advanced enemy. Comparisons are drawn between the difference among Ethiopians and Italians regarding the conflict, except that this difference perhaps is much greater.





In 17th of September, the aliens launch their attack on London. Even being outnumbered at more than 2:1, they launch a reckless, brutal and deadly attack. Their technological supremacy, despite the courage of the defenders of London, proves itself and shows how much of a threat they pose to mankind.





In only one day, the capital of the once greatest Empire in the history of humanity has fallen.



The alien advance in South America has also grown substantially by the latter half of September. Argentina have been virtually defeated, their remaining industry probably unable to keep up supplies for the remnants of their army. Meanwhile, the aliens prepared to attack the neighboring countries of Brazil and Paraguay, having ravaged already through the southernmost states of Brazil, ensuring that, for the happiness of many, Clockwork Knight will never be born.



A week after the Fall of London, Birmighan was also taken, and thus, the entirety of Southern England fell under alien control. The onslaught proceeded as the weary defenders of the British Isles seemingly stood no chance. However, at Shefield and Liverpool, they have managed for a time, to hold the time, aware that millions of lives depended upon their bravery and willingness to fight to death while a desperate evacuation of the whole island that started in September proceeded.



However, all they managed to do was to delay the inevitable, and now, virtually the entirety of England has fallen, as the surviving military units struggled to defend Scotland, Wales and the northern tip of England from the enemy.



With the development of Production Planning, considering the severe manpower problems Poland faced, a very important project is started.



In 1st of November of 1940, terrible news befell the Germans. More than thirty divisions have been pocketed by the aliens in Wolfsburg and Magdeburg, and such loss would make a huge difference in the herculean effort to defend the Fatherland. It could be the turning point to the ultimate defeat of Germany. Desperatedly, the Germans reportedly began to launch an assault against Berlin.





After a brutal battle that lasted for an entire week, bringing enormous casualties to the Wehrmacht, the Germans have retaken their capital, or more exactly, the devastated ruins of Berlin. It would take a long time to rebuild the city of the once feared nation that now lied on the verge of collapse. That providing they'd be able to hold the city long enough for rebuilding it. Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of German soldiers were now completely surrounded in the frozen landscape around Magdeburg.



However, the Wehrmacht have managed to relieve them by liberating Potsdam just in time to prevent the complete slaughter. The conflict began to halt in the northern hemisphere as winter began, and even highly advanced technologies couldn't defeat General Winter. However, that was anything but motivating, considering the situation of the world at large.



11th of November of 1940. While, despite the bleak mood from knowledge of what was happening around the world, the people of Poland celebrated yet another Independence Day as a sovereign nation, with massive homages to all the soldiers who gave their lives to defend Poland and never gave up, even when everything seemed to be over, and to all veterans who survived, being made all across Poland. Monuments were built in Wizna, Grodno, Stanislawow, Kielce, Radom and other battlegrounds of the Second World War, which had constant visitations of people paying homage to their heroes.

As Poland celebrated their independence, the aliens, despite losing Berlin, gained even more ground through Belgium and Germany, while fifteen divisions tried to defend the region arround Glasgow in Scotland, and three brave marines have managed to retake, and for now, hold Plymouth in Southern England. The British situation was becoming worse and worse, and Plymouth wouldn't last much longer.



The only good news came from Spain, where Franco claimed that all aliens have been defeated. However, it should be noted that, probably due to the low priority given to Spain, no tripods were used in such attempted invasion and a quite small force, when compared to what was used in the rest of the world, was deployed.





Huge Alien ITZ in Kwanzania. More than one third of United States territory fell under alien control, and a small force of Canadian defenders was pocketed by the aliens, who also advanced brutally against Mexico. Cleveland's prophecies were coming to full circle, and the United States had only thirty divisions and a few more against such massive threat, so far.



The French have launched a small force in an attempt to fight against the aliens in South America, while Paraguay was effectively defeated and Bolivia began to fall as well. Such operations in foreign soil, if anything, may bring a hope of a possible encounter to avoid the impending disaster. Although even in such dire situation, the bickering and differences so far have spoken louder, perhaps, the greatest alliance ever made in mankind history could yet begin.



East Africa is being overran by the aliens, who strangely have not attacked the Suez channel, for now. The British territories were completely abandoned, as a necessary sacrifice made to deploy as many overseas United Kingdom soldiers as possible to the British Isles, to defend what remain of them from the alien threat.



Only time now separates Australia from ITZ.



Meanwhile, the Japanese Empire suffered terrible losses in the Far East. Most of China has been conquered, and the invasion forces from Vladivostok and Shangai are about to merge the fronts they have opened. The Chinese and Japanese resistance is on the verge of being crushed.



Poland has rebuilt and partially modernized their army, as it was realized. The Illusion of Peace was over already. If they did not act now, it could be too late already once the Summer of 1941 starts.

Ok people, looks like it's time to save the world.

Considering your achievements I think every competent intelligence agency in the world knows about you. Actually it is surprising that Furher didn't sent a few (not necessarily Lithuanian) hitmen after your ass.

Besides, the time for shadow operations is over. Now you're facing enemies that are simply beyond that.

You forget that there are undeniable advantages of having a strong military and political figure on the political scene. A war veteran that repeatedly proved his brilliance against all odds and overtly takes part in the life of his country would clearly be of great benefit to a nation rebuilding after the war effort (cheat code bonus to morale, reconstruction as well as trade?).

Furthermore, being known to the public doesn't have to mean that you are more prone to attacks. In the history of the world there have been many capable leaders who solely with their authority changed the shape of the world without exposing themselves to any danger. (Read: employ the Lithuanian Hitman as your personal "covert" bodyguard :Suzume Nin-nin.

And another thing. After the war has ended it is possible for you to tip the balance of power as you see it fit. In spite of many conspiracy theories, it is rather impossible to do if you're politically a no-one.

Of course, the above is valid only if you somehow had become a public figure earlier during the war with Germany. Which isn't hard to imagine in the last few months when the situation was so desperate and chaotic (with Polish intelligence service in shambles) you had to participate in battles yourself in order to manage the army effectively.

On the other hand, I can see one more reason why you would want to remain in the shadows. If the other nations somehow learned about your being a time-traveller they could connect too many dots and "mistakenly" assume something terrible...

It's like that thing about the fart of an elephant provoking a tidal wave on the other side of the world, something like what happens in that so-so movie called Butterfly Effect. Time-travelling always bring fucked up consequences, right? Yes, the aliens came from another Space-Time Continuum as an accidental result of the time machine working.

At least here Einstein wasn't killed, nor Hitler was dealt with before the onset of the Second World War.

Now, as I'm replying about the time-travel plot device, here is something that is a pseudo-update:


What if no alliance ever happens in the world and if the aliens send no more waves?



By the summer of 1941, without any support, despite their vast armies, Germany has fallen. Australia was also on the same situation and more than half of the United States was conquered. The aliens began to invade Poland, as a brave defense plan focused on the best defense: offense, has begun.





Like France, Poland was, with an unsurpassed bravery and strategic insight, managing to hold the tide of the alien invasion. An year since the aliens began their brutal assault on Poland, bleak reports about the alien saucer-shaped aircrafts deploying a deadly weapon against Melitopol appeared. The weapon has turned the entire area surrounding the city into a massive crater, wiping out everyone.

Milan, Liverpool and several other Soviet cities also fell to the devastation of such weapon, but then, the attacks stopped. Perhaps the aliens were attempting to break the resolve of the defenders through these terror weapons, and realizing they'd destroy the entire planet first, they gave up.



The brutal attrition warfare has all but brought every able-bodied man of Poland to the fight. For two years, Poland held the alien menace, as meanwhile, both Japan and United States have managed to purge the xenos from their territories, and only Central Europe and Australia remained under alien control. The soviets began to launch their offensive as well, gaining territory as they liberated the ruins of Bulgaria, Hungary and Romania.

If Poland did survive, the risk of Poland becoming surrounded by Soviet territories was immense, and depleted of manpower, their future, regardless of what happened from now on, would be bleak.

However, to defend itself isolatedly was not the choice Poland has made, and the aliens would prove even worse than what have been witnessed in this What-if scenario.

The Germans actually ruined everything when they tried to defend Stettin and the other province on their own.

Also, I have made some modifications to the alien AI in the save file hoping they'd improve three situations:

1) Lack of offensive drive

2) Leaving themselves exposed to be encircled.

3) Losing multiple of their best savegame-edited divisions due to attrition

Then I remembered that as a player, I'm not averted to invest as much as 80% of IC in reinforcements when the available manpower allows, therefore:


This should avoid the destruction of Necron Tripods.

And for the two other issues:


This means the aliens will be far more aggressive against the AI and will make it very difficult for me to attempt encircling them, according to a guide on modding ai files. I hope this guide isn't wrong.

And apparently, 5 Necron Tripods were lost in attrition in the battle for Britain. Time to rectify that. Also it is the explanation on why UK managed to take back the island quite soon.

I really hope that I won't have to mod the save file yet another time to babysit the alien invaders AI dumbfuckery



PS: How can 6 units with 10% softness, 80 in def. and toughness die so easily?

PS2: Does anyone know the code to set a division as prioritized for reinforcements in the save game file?

Strange Bedfellows through the Shivering Dead Snow of 1940



During the night of 11th of November of 1940, General WhiskeyWolf, realizing the situation quite well, used his influence in the Polish cabinet to pull the most polemic decision ever made in the history of Poland.

: Traitor! Look at what you have done? You have allied with our enemies! You have compromised our men to fight side by side with those who destroyed our land and killed their friends!

: No Marshall, I have given to them a better chance of holding the tide of such enemy forces before they can ever harm our people. If Germany falls, the enemy will proceed to defeat us. Besides, brutal encirclements have reduced the Wehrmacht to a hundred and a dozen of divisions, and together we may yet have a chance to halt such enemy. If we keep bickering, if we refuse to cooperate, we will be betraying the human race! Look! Kwanzania is being completely overwhelmed. China is on the verge of defeat! East Africa has fallen! If we simply wait, we will be doomed!

: Do you really expect our soldiers to give their best to help the Wehrmacht? Do you know the consequences of what you just did?

: Of course I do! There are far more choices and consequences here than in any possible game about throwing dices to see what result they give or about pretending to be another person and being a Bro and popping moles while thinking it is an intellectual game.

: Nevermind, what matters, and what we must be fully aware of, is that we are not doing this for Germany, we are doing this for Poland and for humanity. Look at the reports about the enemy progress! If we remain isolated, we will lose, and I am not referring to Poland, I am referring to the entire world.



: And what do you hope to achieve with this disgusting allegiance with those who were, a few months ago, our enemies?

: The true enemies we fought against, Hitler and most of his cronies, have been executed, get over it! And we need to set up an example to the world, we must lobby immediately for all nations in the world to work together to stop this menace! And by doing this, we will take the first step!

: HA HA HA! OH WOW! Do you really believe the world will unite, even in such circumstances? Tell me another joke!

: Humanity cannot be that stupid to realize their survival depends upon such union.

: I wouldn't trust that.

: I have managed to double the size of the military forces under our control. Do you know how much this will increase our chances? And are you aware of the reports that a third wave of invaders has landed on several strategic points across the planet?



: At least any chances of the Soviets trying to be opportunistic and invade us are over now. However, if Bulgaria falls, and then Romania falls too, then the aliens would have a direct border with us.



: And thus I have "betrayed" Poland by ensuring what I can do to prevent such thing from happening through diplomatic means. However, if the Soviets fail to contain such invasion, they'll end on our eastern borders, and fighting a two-front war is something that I doubt we have the resources and strength to win or survive through.



With the launch of a fearful force of Tripods on Suez, the aliens have completely sealed off the Mediterranean sea, blocking all fleets inside it from leaving and all fleets inside it from entering. However, the attack on Gibraltar could be only the beginning of something far worse.



: What are you expected to face coming from Istanbul?

: I don't know yet, but judging from the reports across the world, better safe than sorry. These enemies have elite divisions using the best of their technology, so powerful that only heavy artillery pieces can pierce through their armor plating.





: Considering such detail, measures have been taken to prepare our forces as much as possible for what is coming.



The now reinforced Polish divisions began to march through the remnants of Germany. Reports indicated that both Stralsund and Dresden were suffering heavy attacks, and considering their strategic importance, WhiskeyWolf decided to prioritize both. The advance through the frozen ground was slow, and many got sick. Morale was low, for even aware of the greater enemy, most soldiers felt uneasy about doing such a thing. In part, a resentment made them intentionally delay the deployment.





Considering the manpower problems, methods to minimize lethal and crippling casualties were considered very important. Poland was roughly even with the larger powers in ground warfare tactics and technology, at the expense of neglected research in the naval and aerospace fields.



No chances would be taken in Dresden, better to send more than necessary and win the battle than to send less than necessary men to hold a territory and lose it.



Romanian forces, now under the Unified Command of Central-Eastern European Nations (UCCEEN), began to amass to converge in Plodiv, simultaneously, for it was best to not take any chances.



The sluggish mobilization of Polish forces in German territory proceeds, there is a suspicious and covertly hostile interaction between German and Polish soldiers, against the will of their superiors, as they openly avoid getting close from each other. Meanwhile, soon Polish forces will arrive in Stralsund.

Soon, the first contact of Poland with these new enemies will happen. All they knew about them came from hearsay and news reports on the radio, and for the moments they were about to prepare themselves to defend Stralsund, they have forgotten their coldness to the German soldiers, as they felt a terrible tension, their hands over the grips of their rifles and RPGs, awaiting.





First, came the elite divisions wearing power armors. Codename "POPAMOLE", these enemies were very difficult to take down and had an array of incredibly advanced small arms that shot rays of light like the rayguns of fiction. Heavy red hot orbs of glowing light fell from the sky, described as "plasma artillery". Their shiny appearance helped to immediately triangulate their positions, as counter-battery fire proceeded with the far less shiny and technological artillery pieces used by the Polish and German forces defending Stralsund.






Whenever those "plasma orbs" fell upon the land, they melted everything nearby, leaving small craters and no survivors. The battle proceeded through a brutal engagement, and while difficult to hold off, the POPAMOLE weren't the most fearsome enemies. Instead, the less well-equipped, but far more horrifying human soldiers "recruited" by the aliens began to appear after less than a hour of battle.



Despite their equipment being far less exotic and traceable as evolving from existing weapons, it was still at least forty decades more advanced than anything fielded in current times. The hordes of zombies advanced recklessly, as fear struck in the hearts of the defenders. Civilians ran desperatedly away, fearing that the soldiers wouldn't hold off the tide. When witnessing the horrors of the new enemies, and the innocents, the women, children and elderly so close from the battlefield, the Polish soldiers, once distrustful and with low morale, finally realized they were not fighting with Nazis, but for humanity.



The horrors of such enemy were many, and their description as "nightmarish" was, if anything, an understatement. However, despite all such horrors, the Polish and German defenders, aware of the civilian massacre that would happen if they failed, did not cower, and bravely stood, slaughtering wave after wave of undead soldiers, until, after five intense hours of battle.



The first battle against such invaders Poland participated of was over. They have won, but the coldness of the winter have anything but contributed to it, and so far, none of the dreaded Tripods have been sighted. It was clear such enemies posed a much greater threat than anyone could imagine. However no nightmare could be compared to the one that would start, coincidentally, at Midnight, in the frozen battlefield of Dresden. Almost half of the Polish Army reached the region to defend it from a gigantic horde of living dead soldiers equipped with what was assumed to be the equivalent of late 20th century weapons and technology.





They came through the frozen plains of Dresden , hundreds of thousands of former Wehrmacht soldiers in tatters, rotting, decayed. Armed with modern weapons, and despite undead, very well organized andapparently capable of following complex orders like if they were being controlled by a greater mind, like if they were limbs of a singular consciousness.



And there was some very disgusting scenes that have been witnessed during such battle. Apparently, not every human being in the territories occupied by the aliens have been slaughtered, but all indicated that fates worse than death awaited the survivors.



It was an even greater nightmare for the combatants, the stench of death completely nauseating to even the most hardened veterans, the fear, the horror. There were not enough words to describe the experience of fighting against the human corpses the aliens have "recruited".

Meanwhile...





No divine intervention happened to save Jerusalem and the territories of ancient Israel from meeting their doom. It is unlikely the aliens would care about holy symbols, and a great desecration of the greatest icons of the Jewish, Muslim and Christian religions was to be expected soon as the enemy advanced through the rich oilfields of the Middle East.





After almost 24 hours of continued onslaught, only a real man would survive being surrounded by a gigantic legion of well-armed living dead without crapping his pants. It was a very dramatic turn in the battle of Dresden, where, with unspeakable courage, the defenders managed to hold the tides and break the encirclement in the morning of December 1st.





However, there was no time to rest, as the horde of The Many and of the Popamoles proceeded through the region Nuremberg. Defending such region was equally important as otherwise three regions would have to be defended at the same time instead of one.



However, such two battles were not the most dramatic, fearsome battles fought against the enemy, for despite all horrors, the Wehrmacht and the Polish Army prevailed. The most dramatic battle was fought not by Polish soldiers, but by twelve divisions of Romanian soldiers and a few Romanian cavalry under the Unified Command to defend Bulgaria from the unknown threat in Istanbul.

Battle of Plovdiv



By the time the soldiers positioned in the ruins, civilians were already desperatedly fleeing through the coast using all means they could as the dreaded legion of Tripods scoured from the ruins of Istanbul and advanced through the land.



The enemy saw no difference between military and civilian, as their war machines slaughtered everything alive along their way. However, in combination to such fearful forces, even greater nightmares advanced, as the Romanian soldiers would understand why Australia never had any chance to survive:







Despite outnumbering the attackers at 12:1, the defenders were slowly losing their ground, as even the combined might of all their heavy weapons could barely scratch the legions of tripods and robotic monsters advancing. Meanwhile, their flying war machines brought destruction of untold proportions, however, the hundreds of thousands of men still resisted bravely, as they saw hundreds of thosands of of civilians and knew that their lives depended upon this.



Still, they have managed to slow down the war machines, as artillery managed to bring down very few of them, however, they were, even if in a very slow way, losing ground, making gradual retreats, hoping that the reinforcements to arrive could turn the tide of such seemingly hopeless battle







Then, hundreds of miles away, the enemy launched an attack on Potsdam, with an even greater horde of undead than the one that plagued Dresden. Reinforcements prepared to arrive, as an almost as dramatic battle as the battle against the Tripods in Plovdiv has begun.



At such horrible odds, killing the enemy with fire was a viable alternative. Some German soldiers seemed horrified when they same some of the zombies along the horde, as if they recognized the twisted faces of them, as the faces of men who they once fought with instead of against, of men who once were their friends, or even relatives.



On the other hand, for two days, the defenders of Plovdiv held their ground against the numerically inferior but miles ahead in technology forces that were attacking the place. A single division arrived to reinforce their defenses, but it seemed to have made no difference. They still couldn't hold their ground, and civilians were still fleeing the region.







To make things worse, the defenders of Potsdam were, like the defenders of Dresden, surrounded by the legions. However, the enemies they fought outnumbered them, where in Dresden, despite the engagement involving even numbers and frozen ground, they have barely managed to defend it. The perspectives on how things would be once winter was over were frightening, for even in the middle of the winter, the enemy still managed to win battles and advance.




With yet another division arriving, the situation in Plovdiv became slightly less worse. The tripods were centuries ahead of human technology, but not completely unstopabble, even though ridiculous odds and an immense cost in lives and firepower were required to stop only one of them. It was an uphill battle, although the relative capability of slowing down the enemy gave a faint hope the tide could yet be turned.





However, not even 150,000 soldiers have managed to hold the tide, as the battle result was becoming very clear amidst significant casualties. Now, after three days of nonstop battle, the defenders, despite numberful and reasonably equipped for their time, were definitively losing the battle. Equally bad, was the situation at Potsdam.





However, the most destructive event happened in the battle against the unstoppable tide of the Tripods in Plovdiv.





While civilians desperatedly evacuated the region, A single division of Tripods have managed to surround the fifteen divisions still standing against its immense threat. A nearly suicidal battle proceeded, as casualties reached immense numbers. And as if such reports weren't sufficiently dread...





Spain has fallen, as it was confirmed a horde of Tripods that was deployed in Gibraltar completely crushed their army and now began to invade the completely undefended southern France. The French, despite their brave resistance in Belgium and in the Maginot, would not stand the pressure of a two-front war against such an enemy, and now, only a miracle could save them from the impending doom.



The battle for Potsdam wasn't over yet, as reinforcements desperatedly attempted to turn the tide of battle against the massive horde.



However, they came too late and in too few numbers to make a difference, only buying time before the inevitable defeat after two days of battle without end.



The fifteen divisions held the Tripods at bay for four days now, but their defeat was imminent, and there were still civilians fleeing. At 15:00 hours, the retreat began as the casualties became massive. However, a small group of soldiers, aware that there were still civilians to leave, decided to sacrifice themselves to save their lives.

Last Stand against the Tripods in Plovdiv (including Russian subtitles)





It was over. They didn't make it, but they have saved many lives with their last stand. A force that was as large as the entire armies of many countries in the world was insufficient to hold a single division of tripods in a mountainous region with several defensive advantages, demonstrating the massive threat such machines of war presented to humanity. Whereas their foot soldiers could be stopped, for a time, the Tripods were almost unbeatable.



The Battle of Potsdam also have lasted for four days, as a large amount of reinforcements arrived, but they were too late now, Potsdam would be lost sooner or later, however, they have held the region long enough for all the women, children and those unable to fight to evacuate, saving countless lives in their bravery.



Despite the winter and the mostly hilly and mountainous region surrounding them, the aliens, reportedly having launched from orbit a massive legion of Tripods, began to gain a dangerously large amount of ground in the Soviet Union, threatening even to reach the eastern border of the Soviet Union with Poland. All across the world, the situation was terrible, and even the most powerful nations fell slowly to the hordes of invaders.



This is like that thing Cleve was talking about. ITZ came to Australia, and now, only Tasmania remains.



Even aware of the powerful anti-air equipment of these enemies, seeing no option, the two bomber flight groups of Poland were ordered to launch an Interdiction strike against the enemy. However, before they could even reach the enemy territory.



The battle was over. Potsdam was lost as the gigantic horde prepared to occupy it.



In the west, the enemy gained even more ground as the Polish forces prepared to reinforce the barely defended southern part of the large front.



The Polish Army was still being modernized while the battles occurred.





An attempt to retake the strategically important Potsdam was made. A bloody battle, where, despite outnumbering the enemies at almost 4:1, the presence of a lone division of aliens in power armor would show how powerful their actual foot soldiers are when defending. The POPAMOLES were truly a significant threat to mankind.







While the undead soldiers were virtually defeated, the Powar Armorz Xenoz remained strong and resisting, and only anti-tank weapons could kill them. The battle was a disaster. Tanks were also faced for the first time, but these tanks, like all stuff related to the zombies, seemed to have come from a technological age fifty decades ahead.





Potsdam was definitively lost. This would be very bad once the winter ends, for Potsdam had a natural defense in the form of the river crossing it from west.



For unknown reasons, the Germans launched a desperate attack on Friedrichshafen. For a while, the Polish forces gave them support, although they were skeptical of the chances of such attack ever working.



It didn't. Meanwhile, a far more critical operation was about to begin. Plovdiv wouldn't be forsaken easily.



Would even more than two hundred thousand men be insufficient to stop the feared Tripods? Such was the maximum number that could be deployed immediately without risking other fronts. If not even such massive force would be enough to stop the tripods, then the situation would really be dire for Bulgaria, Romania, Poland and Earth. WhiskeyWolf analyzed worriedly the reports on the situation of the world, as of the Christmas of 1940, besides what was already known on the ITZ in Australia and the new invasion front against the Soviets.



The tripods that invaded Spain have occupied the entirety of southern France, and have began the invasion of Italy as well. They would most likely, sooner or later, meet the forces attacking Germany. Considering the odds in the battle of Plovdiv, this was a very bleak realization, and the French, they were definitively doomed, unless a miracle happened.



More than half of the United States fell to the seemingly unstopabble tide, while Mexico has been completely crushed already, and it wouldn't take much longer for the invaders in North America to merge their front with the forces in South America, at this rate.



On an equally worrisome situation, almost half of South America has already fallen. A brutal engagement happened at the moment, in the Amazonian rainforest, where the enemy has been slowed down, but South America seemed doomed to meet defeat.



The Tripods have crushed everything, meeting very little resistance in northeast Africa and in the Middle East. Now Turkey would have to fight a hopeless two-front war against them, and sooner or later, they'd reach India, sealing the fate of the British Empire, which still have managed to hold Glasgow, but was ultimately doomed.



In the Far East, China was almost completely crushed, and although the Japanese have managed to liberate parts of their home islands, their future remained bleak as well. The Chinese resistance has been practically crushed in December of 1940.

Such was the State of Earth. The aliens now possibly occupied more than a quarter of the planet, and hope waned all accross the planet. It became clearer and clearer, that if mankind was to have a chance, they only would have it if they united themselves against such enemy.
