You could try playing alternate scenario in which November uprising did not happen. Congress Poland would probably still exist then as Russian puppet/satellite. I don't know whether it's possible to do this in Vicky 2, but in the first Victoria I simulated that by liberating Congress Poland as a satellite when playing with Russia at first. You could focus on your economy and after a few decades, when Russia gets involved in something resembling Crimean War, try to use the window of opportunity to gain independence.

Unfortunately I already came with another solution.

In the meantime, you should have enough time to research techs and build a decent army and forts (at least enough to defend krakow itself).

Turtling does not a good LP make. And waiting till 1890s would be too boring, and make the actual LP too short. Therefore, I have been plagued between two choices. Playing it conventionally, which would be as amusing as a HoI2 LP of Albania or Luxembourg, or...

:decline:

Cheating a little to get only one state after a string of extremely epic victories as to have a chance of going anywhere before the near endgame because otherwise the fucking countries will fuck Krakow in the ass with white peaces before it can accomplish anything.

Forgive me bros, but I found no other way of making this LP interesting.

Kraków, walcz!

lpvicky2rise001.jpg

Krakow was the last hope of a sovereign and free Poland, a small but democratic(to an extent) nation, it stood as a shining beacon amidst many tyrannies, and liberty brings benefits.

lpvicky2rise002.jpg

An alliance with Austria is made, to secure the sovereignty of such a small and vulnerable country like Krakow, and to perhaps one day serve as a potential tool to reclaim the lands the Russians seized from her, for their outdated army would certainly fall, once the right times come to attack.

lpvicky2rise003.jpg

Thanks to the victory of the Reactionary Party, the government of Krakow decides to promote its industrialization with the construction of a Cement Factory. The Liberals won while the factory was being constructed, but because all funds were already allocated, they let it go, privatizing it once it was finished. And thus, right in 1838 Krakow already was entering in the industrial age.

lpvicky2rise004.jpg

A strong movement to destroy the old oligarchies rise among Liberals, and thus dissent increases as several militias rise within Krakow, along the age of liberalism. This is a significant threat to the sovereignty of Krakow, for pissing off three Great powers all around Krakow is anything but stupid.

lpvicky2rise005.jpg

Like everything however, it ends, specially as motions come for the creation of the right to freedom of press. Surviving through these turbulent times earn Krakow some prestige.

lpvicky2rise006.jpg

What the government began the free market finished. Capitalists thus expanded the number of factories in Krakow to three, by building fabric and glass industries, and by 1845 Krakow was a shining developed corner amidst a mostly backwards region.

lpvicky2rise007.jpg

Years have passed, and something changed for the worse: Russia grabbed Krakow as part of its sphere of influence, ruining forever the plan of having the support of Austria to do the opposite. The Russian Army was large, but famous for its incompetence and ineptness. Austria would have been a much, much stronger ally, but unfortunately for a tiny insignifcant country like Krakow, there was no choice in regards to diplomacy. Their hands were tied to the interests of the three infinitely more powerful countries along the border. A failure of the free market led the fabric industry to bankrupcy as well, but even now the existing craftsmen and clerks were insufficient for the factories to work at maximum efficiency, although growing in numbers every day. Strangely, many of the craftsmen in Krakow were Jews.

Meanwhile, a new "Adam Smith" arises in Krakow, writing a comprehensive book about minarchism and preaching the same kind of thing people like Ron Paul and Ayn Rand would stand for many decades in the future. His book is published all across the world, giving a small ounce of fame to the small country. However, not only of prestige was Krakow made.

lpvicky2rise008.jpg

The new class of workers, thanks to Jewish speculation inflating the prices of houses, was condemned to much worse conditions of life than the peasants, living in very shitty slums and shantytowns. A parliamentary analysis of the issue is called, in shows of trust in the democratic institutions, while increasing the number of liberals further.

lpvicky2rise009.jpg

At the end of the 1860s, hippies begin to baaw about how the military is unjust spending and should be curtailed. The president simply states that only through superior firepower shall peace prevail in the world. And the massive DISCUSS!!! that emerged between those in favor of a strong military and those against was so legendary in the arguments and drama it provoked that it would make of Krakow prestigious. How can something prestigious exist if nobody asks people to DISCUSS!!! ?

lpvicky2rise010.jpg

1872. Everything was being prepared for the long awaited time. The time of the beginning of the long, arduous and dangerous path towards the emancipation of Poland and Lithuania. Trained only through the most expensive and best methods, three guard brigades, one cuirassier and one artillery were being set for the coming battle against Austria. Ideally, it should be the opposite, but until Krakow emancipates from Russian subjugation by achieving the seemingly impossible goal of becoming a great power herself, Austria seemed to be the only viable goal.

lpvicky2rise011.jpg

Along the way, an extremely sadistic manager is expelled through government intervention, under the idea that no human beings deserves being treated like an animal and that what he was doing was an infringement against the freedom and dignity of the workers. Krakow didn't turn a blind eye to people just because they were poor. Freedom should be a right for everyone.

lpvicky2rise012.jpg

613px-Kingdom_of_Galicia.png

The final invention. Six brigades ready, organized into the Armia Krajowa, made by a division of three guard and one infantry brigade with additional cavalry and artillery brigades to it. It was a small number of forces to stand against the full might of the Austrian army. It was a pity they would not be crushing Russia on Austrian side instead, but they had no choice in regards to who they wanted as allies because the fucking Russians always pull their strings to snatch Krakow into the sphere of influence. The Austrian part of West Galicia shall be taken.

This would be a fight to the death.

lpvicky2rise013.jpg

Legions swarm against Krakow. After realizing their predicament, the general orders for everyone to retreat towards Russian territory. Fighting to death would be no victory... thus the situation worsened, if Krakow is occupied it could be the end of all, and there were nearly a hundred thousand enemies attempting to seize the Free City.

Fortunately, Russian reinforcements were coming to Krakow, and thus the Armia Krajowa marched together with them to the most important battle of this war. Securing Krakow was fundamental, no matter the cost.

lpvicky2rise014.jpg

461px-guerrevendc3a9e_1.jpg

The battle of Krakow became one of the largest Battles ever fought in history. Armia Krajow fought bravely along the disorganized and poorly led Russian soldiers, who were dying by the droves within the city. There was much bloodshed and even local Polish pan-nationalist militias attempted to fight against the invaders in face of the massive assault to retake the city. It would become the Krakow's Waterloo, the decisive battle for its sovereignty.

lpvicky2rise015.jpg

3656.jpg

The Battle of Krakow would prove to be one of the bloodiest and longest battles ever fought in history. Both attackers and defenders heavily entrenched themselves, and it has been going for four months, four months of fight street-by-street, four months of artillery shells being exchanged, causing dozens of thousands of deaths, and seemed far from over yet as both Russians and Austrians poured their men to the meatgrinder with more and more reinforcements. It was a small example to the kind of battle that would be the rule rather than the exception should a war happen during the beginning of the next century. Armia Krajowa's determination never ended over during these four months of bloodshed.

lpvicky2rise016.jpg

0,1020,899997,00.jpg

After nearly seven months of battle, the city of Krakow was at last free, at the cost of more than a hundred thousand lives. Both side suffered massive casualties, and the Free City of Krakow's New Years Eve was remembered with the sounds of artillery shells raining from the skies, with the screams of the dying, the gunfire. It would take a long time to repair the massive damage caused by seven months of battle, but ultimately, this battle was a massive humiliation to the Austrians. Failing to seize and annex an insignificant, minnow nation, they ordered their Bavarian henchmen to immediately charge again against Krakow, while the Russians left the city to pursue the Austrian forces elsewhere, and right now, the war-weary, understrength Armia Krajowa would have to stand alone for Krakow.

lpvicky2rise017.jpg

The last Russian soldiers moving elsewhere were still on the city when the first attempt came, but soon they were gone. These defeats were humiliating to Austria, and desperatedly Armia Krajowa prepare to what they believed to be their final moment.

lpvicky2rise018.jpg

Barely recovered from battle after battle, they emerged victorious against the incredibly stubborn Bavarian general, despite outnumbered.

lpvicky2rise019.jpg

220px-Polish_Flag_Monte_Cassino3.jpg

Suffering massive casualties, and with growing discontent and movements preaching open rebellion against the Austrians in Hungary and Czechoslovakia among all other subjugated peoples, the Austrians were in a tough internal situation worsened by the inevitably coming news of how the Free City of Krakow emerged victorious after multiple battles, even outnumbered and exhausted of organization, and it stood as an example for all oppressed people. In the regions of former Poland occupied by Austria, armed uprisings erupted, and the Great Power, like a Goliath humbled by a David, saw itself collapsing from inside to a point they realized that giving up West Galicia would not be a bad idea, while their ally, Sweden, with a minnow army, was being slowly curbstomped by the Russians. And thus, against all odds, Austria accepted to cede their piece of West Galicia to Krakow.

lpvicky2rise020.jpg

Finally, Krakow rises to something with enough population and potential to be able to wage a war on their own, next time an opportunity arises. Poles across the world rejoice such astounding accomplishment, and many emigrate from the occupied Polish lands to Krakow. This victory was however only a small step in the long road ahead, and even then, restoring Poland remained a very difficult and challenging perspective, and this newly gained territory was still not enough for Krakow to have a chance of ascending to the status of a Great Power.

lpvicky2rise021.jpg

Russia also gained with the war, seizing a large part of Norway from Sweden, and thus, in a way, a future enemy of Krakow also became stronger. The world has changed much since 1836. Prussia successfully created the North German Federation, unifying all German states but Bavaria. Mexico was one of the Great Powers, controlled most of what otherwise would become the US West Coast and midwest, and also was the second largest economy in Amerikwa, and belonged to a powerful alliance between her, United States of Amerikwa and the still existing United States of Central Amerikwa, that funnily leaped from Banana Republics to Third greatest economy and industrialized country in the continent. The Kwanzanians Alliance was a powerful faction, but too far away to be able to properly support Krakow as of now.

Russia funnily settled cities like Klamath Falls and Portland. Therefore the Chosen One might be Russian in this timeline.

The challenges ahead would be even greater. Austrian West Galicia was only the beginning of a long road to emancipation.

A narrow window of opportunity to retake Silesia

lpvicky2silesia001.jpg

Shortly after the glorious victory against Austria, the recently grown, now Free State of Krakow has realized that there was one drawback from it, in spite of gaining prestige from its liberty: The city of Krakow, as an university center, had a much greater degree of literates than all regions around it, with the gain of territory, the percentage of illiterates also grew, while the growth of craftsmen finally became self-sufficent, and thus, to compensate for the loss of literacy, the new national focus of Krakow is the promotion of clergymen, until they reach the ideal number of 2% of the entire population.

lpvicky2silesia003.jpg

Another sad disaster involving a man who was actually too old to carry on, and finally the government cedes to the pressure to create minimum wage based pension funds, they won't be much of a hindrance now that there is a much more powerful economy supporting Krakow.

lpvicky2silesia004.jpg

Russia, after selling Alaska to Kwanzania, decides they deserve to take it back by force. Typical. Considering what Krakow could do and that Kwanzania could do shit to help her cause, the Free State declares war against the Kwans, but it is a futile declaration of war, only to please the Russians in their delusions of grandeur.

lpvicky2silesia005.jpg

Rumors about expeditions to study new kinds of plants are abound, and hoping to earn some prestige from it, Krakow funds their own expedition as well into Africa.

lpvicky2silesia006.jpg

Funnily, Amerikwa asks for peace with Krakow first, on behalf of "both sharing the same democratic ideals." Having nothing at stake in this war, the government accepts.

lpvicky2silesia007.jpg

machete_wideweb__470x333,0.jpg

Unfortunately, Krakow's botanical expedition in Africa has a tragic end as all members meet ITZ, leading to a large loss of prestige.

lpvicky2silesia008.jpg

The Russians manage to seize Hawaii, but ultimately their performance due to the lack of a proper navy has been horrible.

lpvicky2silesia009.jpg

And thus the war for Alaska ended in another white peace(BROS I WILL KILL A WHITE DOVE NEXT TIME I SEE ONE). Not only encouraging craftsmen is no longer necessary, but society has reached a point where there will be more workers available than jobs, at least until the expansions and building of new factories are over.

lpvicky2silesia010.jpg

in-the-trenches.jpg

Finally begins the research into the conceptualization of a new form of highly advanced defenses: trenches. It would be the combination of artillery, trenches and machineguns that would make wars extremely bloody for the times to come, but it would also give a massive advantage to defenders against attackers.

lpvicky2silesia011.jpg

Pressures for Universal Suffrage carry on, in spite of the irony that the status quo shall ensue a mostly liberal base of voters that would thus give the support for such reform, whereas the contrary would mean a greater number of conservative voters.

lpvicky2silesia012.jpg

Protip: Explosive factories are almost always shit profit-wise because of probably another of the vanilla quirks. And thus the subsidies are cut off as soon as the expansion of other factories is finished to absorb its workers and it is predicted to be closed soon for being uneconomical.

lpvicky2silesia013.jpg

Feminazis once again, and thus liberalism grows.

Time went on, when suddenly a certain event would open the oportunity for continuing the emancipation of the Polish people.

lpvicky2silesia014.jpg

The North German Federation declared war against a massive coalition led by France, with the goal of seizing the Rheinland. Thus most of their forces shall be distracted there, but unfortunately, to have more financial reserves, Krakow avoided keeping a standing army. Equally unfortunate was the fact that decrease the strong relationship of Krakow with the NGF by writing skyway-styled messages on how Krakow hates them would be needed to avoid losing prestige from declaring war against a country with a positive diplomatic standing with it.

They could only hope the war with France would last a long time.

lpvicky2silesia015.jpg

One of the allies of France asks for military access. If they intended to sneak on Germany from Krakow, why deny them such an opportunity? Unfortunately it was a pointless agreement and would just exist on paper.

lpvicky2silesia016.jpg

The unprofitable explosives factory is demolished. The most profitable of all existing factories is the Wodka and Booze distillery for a reason, considering the reputation of most neighbors and locals in regards to hard drinking.

lpvicky2silesia017.jpg

1st of August, 1883. Although Krakow should ideally send another hate letter first to the North German Federation to avoid losing some prestige, there was no more time. The time for another great war has come, and this time, it would be much, much harder than Austria, even with the French keeping them busy and forcing them to fight a two-front war.

lpvicky2silesia018.jpg

Little knew the soldiers of Krakow who arrived at Gniezno that they have just entered the gates of Hell itself in their self-sacrifice for the emancipation of their people. At first, victory seemed certain. The defenders far outnumbered the attackers, after all.

lpvicky2silesia019.jpg

But how wrong they were. The battle was carrying on for months. All Krakow soldiers went to this gigantic meatgrinder, and both sides kept sending more and more reinforcements. Freshly set up Krakow artillery brigades marched directly to the battle and so did freshtly set up Russian divisions. This could be a single battle whose outcome would define the result of an entire war.

lpvicky2silesia020.jpg

battle_of_passchendaele2-_1917.jpg

Although the Germans had some early victories, now the Russians and Krakow were getting the upper hand, strategically, while the bloodshed over Gniezno showed no signs of ever ending. Thousands died every month, and the battle seemed to be locked in an eternal stalemate. It reminded the battles of a future First World War that may never happen, but even amidst such carnage, the soldiers of Krakow stood highly disciplined amidst the poorly trained Russian grunts.

lpvicky2silesia021.jpg

A battle to enter in history for its infamy and tragic nature. Near one year of trench infighting and bloodshed, and no hopes for a breakthrough by either side. Elsewhere, in spite of initial German victories, now the Russians were clearly gaining the upper hand. If Gniezno is won, Krakow shall truly deserve Silesia and the Russians whatever they may wish to carve from the Germans.

lpvicky2silesia022.jpg

It would be in July of 1884 that a major breakthrough would happen thanks to recently built Russian forces, while the strategic situation was clearly giving signs of a major victory after this "Stalingrad" called Gniezno. Men were already anxious for the announcement of a future victory, but for now, fate was uncertain.

lpvicky2silesia023.jpg

The French then do what they know best. Actually not. Due to the successful performance of Russia and Krakow, the Germans are forced to accept a white peace with France. Meanwhile, a conflict where the score once was at -18% was now at -12%, as a proof that the tide was turning, and perhaps, so many German soldiers died at Gniezno that a victory here would still ensure victory over the entire war.

The people of Krakow couldn't believe, that despite the massive sacrifices, they were slowly having a chance to win the war, and this legendary battle would be forever part of the history of Russia and Krakow, but,

If only I could force faggots to refuse accepting white peace. Shit it's going to be totally impossible to get anywhere further without making the Russians behave like men rather than like faggots, just see how a war that ended with losing battles for the Russians but then began to have its tide turned ended in shit, so if there is any way of editing the AI to not be so easily persuaded to a white peace, tell me.

The worst of it is that strategically the NGF was losing, but this retarded score system is the only thing the AI cares about when defining whether to accept white peace or not.

And I'd rather not cheat an acceptall to get land either, but actually fight to the end, only without suffering this bullshit for the nth time.

Nice going even if this war seems lost...

BTW what general are You using? One with +4 attack could very well change the course of the war.

Let me put this again because it seems to have been missed.

Seriously, I'm sick of every war ending like this. If the Soviet Union behaved like this they'd have accepted a white peace from Nazi Germany after Kursk when the tide was turned, because their war score by then would still be negative amirite?

Does anybody know how to edit the AI for it to be far less willing to accept peace offers? I'm reloading from a start of 1884 save game, while that massive battle was still going on rather than interrupted from a glorious victory through stupid peace offers, because if I cope with this shit Krakow will be riding in infamy for nothing and I'll probably end with it not going anywhere.

*Edit: Also, for the question, I've been using a +3 defense general.

Wtf? lol 290k infantry on your side? I assume a vast majority of those are Russian grunts?

About 48k are Krakow soldiers and artillerymen.

I'm looking at the text files and I'm close to finding the solution to stop countries from accepting or offering white peace unless they are losing terribly, meanwhile I found a MostlyHarmless.txt among the decisions files, so I think there might be a sort of special cheat after all to trigger something big... just in case the game stagnates, like I did in the HoI2 LP.

Just see it for yourself:

Code:
political_decisions = {
	miskatonic_university = {

			tag = NEN
			owns = 245
			NOT = {
				has_country_flag = miskatonic_u_class_of_1836

				add_province_modifier = {

	}
}

That is what differentiates a "fix" from a cheat.

*Edit: AI behavior is apparently hard-coded but I've found a workaround. You'll see in the next update.

I think it is unbeatable as #1 Great Power in vanilla unless China manages to go civilized and zerg the world with massive armies supported by industries manned by dozens of millions of crafstmen and clerks. Specially because they can build regular infantry brigades out of Indians. The newest members of the Great Powers club are Mexico and the recently unified Italy.

Also, I edited the save file to put Krakow as the leader of the alliance in the war against Germany so Krakow can negotiate directly with the Germans.

War of Silesia, Krakow's Finest Hour

lpvicky2silesiaa001.jpg

While the Germans were still busy in France, several battles were being fought since the declaration of war in 1st of August. Madness many called it, the defeatists who dishonor their nation. For all should know that this should be a fight to the death, and the only acceptable outcome is the emancipation of Poland and eventually the recreation of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The first victory was in Torun, an once Polish territory. The cost was high, however.

Krakow had one two of the best commanders of the world. One gifted in offensive tactics and capable of reorganizing his men much faster and keep their spirits high even at the direst times (+3 attack and +30% Morale) while the other was an excellent specialist in terrain and use of fortifications, capable of holding ground for months against far outnumbering hordes of enemies. (+3 defense). If these men could replace command of massive Russian units in decisive battle, their presence alone would make a huge difference.

lpvicky2silesiaa002.jpg

Gniezno. The Russian soldiers retreated in face of the violent enemy offensive, and now the brave Krakow soldiers defending it were facing a far numerically superior force, but in their determination, they refused to retreat, hoping to buy precious time for all other allied forces elsewhere. The battle of Gniezno would become known as the Thermopylae of Krakow.

lpvicky2silesiaa003.jpg

The war was going favorably for Krakow, in spite of the utmost superiority of German soldiers when compared to the Russian ones. It was still undecided, however, and sooner or later the Germans would make a white peace offer to the French that, considering how they love the white flag and were totally owned in their own territory, with Germans already on the march to Paris, couldn't resist. However, more Germans came to Torun, and thus a long, long battle ensued as the Armia Krajowa, a massive German attacking force and Russians fought for it.

lpvicky2silesiaa004.jpg

In large part thanks to the support of Krakow soldiers and artillery corps, and also to the fact the German general involved was killed, a battle the Russians were at first losing had its tide turned. The Germans were wiped out, losing half of their strength into the meatgrinder, and Torun became thus the Stalingrad of this war. Or at least that was what was first thought. These massive and major victories were slowly crushing the German Army's resolve, as they were still fighting a two-front war, and began to also lose ground in France.

lpvicky2silesiaa005.jpg

Stubbornly, they attempted to retake Torun while the Krakow soldiers moved to support battles elsewhere, but were given no rest. Meanwhile, despite the hopelessness, 6,000 Poles stood alone against 70,000 German Soldiers, resisting bravely through months of battle against a numerically superior force and hopeful of reinforcements to arrive. Divisions were still being fielded in Krakow while the war carried on, and would see battle as soon as they were ready.

lpvicky2silesiaa006.jpg

Another battle seemingly unresolved for months is brought to a quick end as soon as Krakow artillery corps come to its support, and thus another great victory leads to massive losses from the German side.

lpvicky2silesiaa007.jpg

Fresh brigades are lobbed straight into the seemingly hopeless battle of Gniezno, that by now was going on for nearly half a year. The Krakow soldiers technological and drilling superiority over the Russians made of their small force a hammer to the Russian anvil, and their bravery would become legendary in this area, no matter if in the end they lose the battle of Gniezno, but bringing twice as many Germans for every one of them fallen.

thermopylae2.jpg

The New World, which for long has forgotten about the Poles, began to watch attentiously this events, this struggle between a Giant in clay-feet together with a David against the iron boots of the German Goliath.

lpvicky2silesiaa008.jpg

By the end of April, thanks to the support of Krakow's strategic and tactical excellence compensating for the lack of it by the Russian Army, the war is definitively going against Germany. Many German areas are about to be successfully occupied by the Russians, and the German Army is depleted of organization, after suffering several massive losses. Meanwhile, the Battle of Oppeln was dragging on for months. It was not a good sign amidst mostly good ones.

lpvicky2silesiaa009.jpg

Help that never came with the exception of the other survivors of Armia Krajowa, too battered to be able to turn the tide of it. Thus, after nearly an entire year defending the region against a far numerically superior and at least technologically equal force, the defenders of Gniezno lost it. Their feat shall be reminded forever in the years to come, their courage and determination in face of the hopeless prospect of a losing battle and specially, the fact that they have inflicted almost twice as many losses against the enemy in spite of their numerical superiority, shall be forever reminded in the future History of Poland. Unfortunately, part of them had nowhere to retreat, and were forced to move deep behind enemy lines, which was definitively not good.

But they will never be forgotten.

:salute:

lpvicky2silesiaa010.jpg

Strangely, while part of the brave survivors of the battle of Gniezno attempt to escape from their pursuers, France still didn't surrender. They were making a long way through enemy lines, hoping to meet allied Russian forces, and eventually their wish was fulfilled: at last they reached a Russian front besieging Deustch ... whatever. However, they have no time to rest as the same Germans pursuing them arrive there, and they are thrown in yet another battle.

lpvicky2silesiaa011.jpg

Meanwhile, the other part of the survivors of Gniezno comes to support the Russians in yet another battle for Skierniewice, where funnily, the Germans did an incredibly idiotic action by sending a lone artillery brigade unprotected to attack it, before the rest of the attack force. And while all these glorious battles were going on, the bloody Oppeln continued into a massive stalemate. With most of the mobilized forces drained, the order of demobilization comes, as hopefully more hard workers will answer the call for a new mobilization, and fortunately they do: 27,000 workers immediately volunteer and are ready to die like those who came before them, as long as their blood shall pave the way to freedom for all Poles. In face of the situation at Oppeln, they are ordered immediately to come there, reinforcing the neverending battle where both sides kept sending more and more men: Oppeln would be the true Stalingrad of this war: the battle which could define the outcome of an entire conflict.

lpvicky2silesiaa012.jpg

ypres3.jpg

Video of a battle that should look like the Battle of Oppeln

Their arrival would hopefully tip the edge in this extremely bloody battle among trenches with seemingly no time to ever end within the No Man's Land of Oppeln. Meanwhile, the artillery forces to the north march to support the defenders of Torun.

And like in nearly every battle with intervention from Krakow, victory is assured once again in the formerly Polish Torun. By then, also, France has finally opened her legs to let the Germans take Alsaice-Lorraine, but even in spite of this, victory was still at hand, but it would be the battle of Oppeln the most decisive battle of this entire war.

lpvicky2silesiaa014.jpg

The battle has lasted more than a whole year already, but at last, the Canad... Krakow corps managed to break through the lines and break the bloody stalemate, the battle began to slowly shift in favor of the defenders, and thus, perhaps victory could be finally ensured in Oppeln, after so many deaths within its trenches.

lpvicky2silesiaa015.jpg

Another victory happens within Deutsch Krone, near immediately the victorious Krakow men march towards the besieged city of Danzig. The Polish civilians they meet around the cities laud them as heroes, giving them hope amidst a war that seems to never end.

lpvicky2silesiaa016.jpg

However, by the time they arrived, the battle seemed to be about to be lost, but they didn't give up. Immediately Konstanty Krukowiecki, the most competent general for defensive battles Krakow had, assumes the position of commanding officer for all forces, and set up a cunning plan to hopefully turn the tide of this battle.

lpvicky2silesiaa017.jpg

Despite heavy losses, the plan works, and Danzig is secured. But, in spite of the enemy loss of ground in Oppeln, the battle was still going on, until another brave and daring action from the Krakow soldiers achieved another major breakthrough in the front lines of the region.

lpvicky2silesiaa018.jpg

After more than one year of unremitting battle, after nearly a hundred thousand lives were lost, a crushing victory at least came in Oppeln against the Germans. Intelligence is immediately gathered on regards to where the retreating Germans are heading, and it is concluded the small Armia Krajowa will be able to crush some of the stragglers.

Thus the best offensive general of this war comes into action.

lpvicky2silesiaa019.jpg

First, a very small force stands no chance of pulling a glorious Gniezno in Breslau.

lpvicky2silesiaa020.jpg

And thus they are completely wiped out, with nobody surviving to retreat. Confident with this victory, the Krakow forces receive information of Russians preparing an offensive against Lungnitz or whatever that region is called.

lpvicky2silesiaa021.jpg

After what seemed to be an advantage for the defenders, the tide is turned and they begin to lose. This will be another great victory for Krakow. Although reinforcements came the battle was still going in favor of Krakow and Russia. Thus, no matter how many losses, not one step backwards!

lpvicky2silesiaa022.jpg

Everything was going fine, until the Russians decided to behave like pussies and abandon the battle, leaving Krakow in a situation where retreat was the only viable option against numerically superior defenders.

lpvicky2silesiaa023.jpg

Thus unfortunately this battle wasn't won thanks to Russian cowardice. But it was only the exception rather than the rule. The tide was strong against Germany, and they better cede Silesia soon lest the Russians decide they should also take some spoils in this war.

lpvicky2silesiaa024.jpg

There were countless German provinces about to be captured, and the Russians were already getting very, very close to Berlin. Victory was now only a matter of time and sacrifice. Battered and humiliated, the Germans realized that giving away Silesia was their best option by now.

lpvicky2silesiaa025.jpg

And about time, for the level of Russian faggotry reached over nine thousand a few moments later as they signed a white peace, but thanks to intelligence operations the Russian ambassador never reached Germany to act like a fag, preventing this war from becoming a disaster thanks to the unjustifiable cowardice and faggotry of Russians in face of a war they were actually winning by and far. Thus, after losing nearly a hundred thousand patriots in battle, Krakow finally secured another piece of the former Poland: Silesia. And with it came a far more educated population. boosting immediately the level of literacy within the country.

lpvicky2silesiaa026.jpg

Now, with the right moves, Krakow could become one of the great powers, and thus free herself from bondage to the damned Russians and make them pay for their cowardice, faggotry and clear untermensch behavior of signing a white peace while in a war they were winning(with 21% war score and growing), and pay hard for it. For unless circumstances dictate otherwise, the next future goal of Krakow shall be the liberation of Congress Poland.

lpvicky2silesiaa027.jpg

The world changed a lot since 1836. Krakow was once an insignificant city, but now rose by incorporating some of the most populated territories of those who destroyed Poland. The Free States of Krakow had many other challenges ahead, and the more they grew, the more others would hate her. Friendships were made. The French had a strong relationship with Krakow, and could become potential allies to keep the Germans in check should Krakow ever rise to become a great power. The colonization of Africa has begun and the only thing that never changed was the uncontested status of the British Empire as the world's greatest power.

Peace is for the weak and subjugated

lpvicky2moravia001.jpg

Amidst wars, the growth of the feminazi movement led to enough liberals in the Upper House to pass a reform that would once again restore the political evolution of Krakow towards greater demokwacy. Now the Upper House composition would be based upon the political opinions of the population with voting rights, and because the majority of them were liberal, more reforms would come every year.

lpvicky2moravia002.jpg

Not even a year has passed since the war with the North German Federation, when, all of sudden, a new opportunity would arise. There was however a serious problem: Armia Krajowa was not ready. Waiting could be risky. These opportunities were usually few and far between. A coward would have allowed for it to pass, but all achievements of Krakow so far have been built on courage, and thus, taking advantage of the Austrian attempt to subjugate the recently established Great power of unified Italy, studies are made about which would be the best state to attempt seizing from the usurpers.

Despite the fact it had only one traditionally Polish province, Moravia was chosen specially because of it and of its greater strategical value compared to Eastern Galicia. It was a vengeance of sorts, and besides the infamy acquired from declaring war would be the same, but the benefits from succeeding to seize the wealthy and highly populated Moravia, much greater.

lpvicky2moravia003.jpg

The people are called to the war. They are barely organized, but eager. May one day History call the wars Krakow has waged since the liberation of West Galicia as the Polish Independence War. There was no time for peace, and thus it would begin.

lpvicky2moravia004.jpg

In spite of being completely unprepared and lacking in a standing army, Krakow still manages to achieve victories within the onset of the war. However, a large part of Armia Krajowa is besieged by a numerically superior force. They fight bravely but their chances of victory are small.

lpvicky2moravia005.jpg

Thus they retreat to Oppeln, and led by a legendary general called Klemens Mierolawski(+4 attack) they hope to be able to turn the tide of the battles the Russians were already fighting. Workers, farmers, they were just common people, but their bravery was commendable.

lpvicky2moravia006.jpg

Russians abandon one of the ongoing offensives, forcing the Krakow attackers to also retreat, but it was no major victory for the enemy, considering their losses in a defensive battle to their side. Meanwhile, Stanislawow, ground of another glorious battle in another epoch, is besieged by Austrian and Bavarian forces. It is a tough battle but eventually more and more reinforcements arrive among allies.

lpvicky2moravia007.jpg

Ultimately, it becomes a very significant victory against the Austrians. Although the Russians were goofing and doing stupid things, the war was still seemingly moving in favor of Krakow, as the Austrians, far less formidable than the Germans, were forced to fight a two-front war.

lpvicky2moravia008.jpg

However, the death of the great general responsible for many successful defensive battles against Germany is felt. With the lack of defensive general, Krakow perhaps would go better if they sought not to defend territory, but to hunt scattered and weakened enemy forces. Meanwhile, a brutal battle was ongoing on Przemysl among large numbers of Russian and Austrian forces. The talent of the Krakowian General for offensives would be wasted elsewhere, and thus most of Krakow forces are sent to drive the enemy away from their land.

lpvicky2moravia009.jpg

Nearly two hundred thousand men fight in the woods of Krakow, and more are coming. The engagement becomes the greatest battle fought in this conflict, and resembles the battle of Oppeln, except this time the attackers are the Russians and Krakowians rather than the enemy.

lpvicky2moravia010.jpg

More allied forces arrive at Przemysl. Depending on how long this battle lasts, new artillery brigades would come out straight to the frying pan just as they were built in the region, and more enemy reinforcements came. The odds seemingly favored the defenders considering the presence of fortifications and the woodland, but giving up was unacceptable, no matter how long it takes to defeat them.

lpvicky2moravia011.jpg

Despite Krakow's support, a small force besieging Hadrec Kralowe is forced to retreat into allied territory. The Russians seem really thick about how it is more important to engange and defeat enemy armies than to just split their massive armies in minor forces to attempt seizing territory so their static advance can be easily crushed.

lpvicky2moravia012.jpg

Several months have passed since the beginning of the war and of the still ongoing battle of Przemysl. Considering how important winning this battle would be, freshly built artillery brigades and all the rest of the Armia Krajowa still not involved in the battle were ordered to join the meatgrinder. From the experiences in this and the previous war, the Krakow military pioneers the Trench systems, aware of how deadly accurate firearms have become, and of the threat of machineguns. Likewise, the government used their treasury to finance the expansion of all existing fortifications in Krakow, to create their own Maginot line, eventually.

lpvicky2moravia013.jpg

After nearly a year of battle along the many trenches, Przemysl is finally liberated from the Austrian invaders, the offensive deemed a complete success, specially because it managed to inflict more casualties to the defender than to the attacker, something that is quite uncommon, specially in battles where the majority of attacking soldiers are Russians. Much prestige is earned from the news about the glorious battle, and how the intervention of the brave Krakow soldiers ensued victory once again, just like the Canadians at Vimy Ridge. However, the enemy didn't give up Przemysl. Taking advantage of the Russian shift of forces elsewhere, while the Krakow soldiers were exhausted and on a breaking point, a new offensive would begin.

lpvicky2moravia014.jpg

The odds weren't good for the defenders of Przemysl. The enemy, although also exhausted, was better organized and outnumbered them. But, this was the Polish land, and the men fought with unflinching courage to defend it. They gave their best, while an elite guard division was arriving to reinforce the defenses.

lpvicky2moravia015.jpg

One of the Austrian henchmen countries asks for peace, which is promptly granted, tipping the balance of the war further in favor of Krakow. The Russian goofs led to a negative balance, but it was slowly being compensated by the great victories, while the Italians would owe much to this bold, daring action of Krakow, to face an enemy while completely unprepared to not lose the opportunity, and once losing, they were now advancing against the Austrian imperialism, brave men who fought to create an united nation among their people and succeeded, like the Poles of Krakow hope to one day manage. Perhaps they would take this opportunity to liberate Venice from the Austrian clutches.

lpvicky2moravia016.jpg

By themselves, the Krakow forces have managed to successfully fend off the attack against Przemysl. In face of the battered and retreating enemy, they thus choose to pursue them and crush this army forever, hopefully.

lpvicky2moravia017.jpg

Unfortunately fresh reinforcements arrive just in time to prevent it from happening, but it still is a pyrrhic victory, for despite attacking, Armia Krajowa took down 2 of their soldiers for every one of them.

lpvicky2moravia018.jpg

Another hopeless battle happens then as the retreating Krakowian soldiers are caught by surprise in Nowy Sacz. In spite of their severe tactical disadvantage, they fight with utmost bravery, bringing even greater numbers of Austrians down.

lpvicky2moravia019.jpg

Thus the strategic situation by 11th of August of 1886: the war was still undecided, but in both fronts, the Austrians began to slowly lose. Hopefully the trend would continue, and thus Moravia would be liberated, giving to Krakow the conditions to truly become a Great Power one day. It was far away however, and much could still happen.

lpvicky2moravia020.jpg

Ultimately however, Armia Krajowa is forced to make their stand in Krakow against the enemy. Along the war experience and during the middle of this battle, a system of elastic defenses was implemented, something that would ensue a near certain victory.

lpvicky2moravia021.jpg

Krakow is successfully defended, but it was not over yet. Rarely Armia Krajowa sticks to only one position, moving to support defending and attack Russian forces along the front.

lpvicky2moravia022.jpg

Bringing both greater, and also smaller victories like this one.

lpvicky2moravia023.jpg

And their courage, their inventiveness and their daringness of risking to face defenders that outnumbered them as attackers led them to create new tactics of war that could give an edge in many battles. However, it was unlikely that this battle would be won. Yet they didn't flinch, hoping the Russians would come to support their offensive.

lpvicky2moravia024.jpg

And they did, ensuring another significant victory, where once again the defenders had significantly greater casualties than the attackers. This was a proof of Armia Krajowa's courage: to start an attack against defenders th at outnumbered them, with no certainty on whether reinforcements would come or not. They really dreamed with the emancipation of their people, which is why they were fighting so hardly for such goal. And immediately upon such victory they continued to chase the retreating enemy forces.

lpvicky2moravia025.jpg

Italy was initially losing, badly, but now, the Italians have already managed to occupy large parts of Genoa and Venice, and if the trend continued, it would be very unlikely for the Italians to accept a white peace upon such opportunity of liberating Venice from the enemy. Italy was another potential ally for Krakow should it ever become a great power. After all, Krakow's declaration of war has helped them indirectly a lot.

lpvicky2moravia026.jpg

The enemy was suffering. The Battle of Stryj was a resounding victory. The allied forces took only a hundred of losses, while the enemy forces lost four thousand. Isolated forces were being massacred at Kattowitz. If this trend carried on, victory would be a certainty had than a doubt for the Polish people.

lpvicky2moravia027.jpg

And another of the Austrian allies decided to abandon them. The conflict was still undecided, thanks again to Russian stupidity and incompetence, balanced by the glories of Armia Krajowa, but with every second, the situation of the enemy worsened and their armies thinned greatly.

lpvicky2moravia028.jpg

Retreating armies are given no rest and throughly chased and exterminated while battles are fought constantly, day and night. The Austrian losses begin to become large enough to get their population unpleased and nervous. No territory was yet successfully occupied by either side but this stalemate was bound to be broken eventually, hopefully in favor of Krakow. The defeated armies retreat straight for Krakow, and all other provinces surrounding Krakow are occupied by the allied forces. No need to explain the implication of these facts.

lpvicky2moravia029.jpg

Despite severely disorganized, thus Armia Krajowa advances to quickly encircle and wipe out this enemy force, either having them killed or surrendering depending on what they do. The geniality of the Polish general is once again shown, and it doesn't take much time for the battle to be resolved.

lpvicky2moravia030.jpg

Once again, the casualties of Krakow soldiers are minnow compared to the total loss of the equivalent of three enemy brigades. Meanwhile, other battles need the support of the battered but brave Armia Krajowa, as the year of 1886 is ending. Since 1883, Krakow has been fighting wars for their emancipation, and they will keep fighting to the end.

lpvicky2moravia031.jpg

A battle happening west of Balti seemed to be the best choice for coming to support the Russian attackers there, but it was still undecided where the Krakow forces should go to carry on with their path to victory. However, the clear strategic superiority was noticeable along the battlefields. The Austrians seemed to be losing this war, and thus Krakow's rise carried on in these bloody and challenging wars for the independence and emancipation of Poland. This was only the beginning.

You should consider taking both Moravia and East Galicia so you won't have to deal with the Austrians again.

Infamy is at 20.00, so unless I make a custom event to give an "acquire_core" CB against Austria, doing so would mean rape.

I guess I could do so.
