This could be the game that gets Bioware shut down if it fails. EA's shut down studios for lesser failures.

Not could, will. But it has to fail first. :(

Bioware has made a lot of noise about how it has infused a series of deep, immersive, epic stories into its upcoming long-ago and far-away MMO – and how those stories set The Old Republic apart from any other MMO.

Please go and kill (five/ten/twenty) (boars/wolves/orcs/spiders/imperial snipers) and bring me their (tusks/teeth/fur pelts/spider silk/heads)

I hope this one kills them for good

Yep. Instead of a field full of wandering thunder lizards, we'll get a field full of wandering Sith. And instead of having to collect their horns, we'll have to collect their lightsaber crystals. A truly deep and immersive experience, I must say. Good job, BioWare!

Hopefully never. He will most probably write the romances in Sims Medieval: Fantasy lands of doorkdoorka. along with Hamburger Helper.

Doesn't a bad critic review translate to the game being decent or good? I think that Star Wars fanboys will save the MMO since there are millions of them.

I heard that Bethesda are headhunting him. The question is whether David Gaider will actually incline their games or not.

Wow, that's really quite a something. I don't recall any AAA MMO getting this bad of a preview, well, ever. I guess the thing is so abysmal that even the game journalists felt that the impact that readership trust loss would bring isn't worth EA's ad banners.

This leaves Bio with what, one whole undamaged IP after this, Mass Effect? Too bad it's coming to the end of the series. After that, they have a fail-ish MMO, a DA setting that shot itself in the leg before it got anywhere, and a finished ME trilogy. Their value to EA would shrink a fair bit, I think?

What is this crap? Mass Effect started off damaged by being a third person shooter.

PS: May the (inevitable) failure of this shitty MMO be the final nail in Bioware's self made coffin. After DA2, I couldn't care less. Fuckers.

What the hell are you talking about. ME being a third person shooter didn't have anything to do with sales, which is what he was talking about

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
I never understood why they thought making RPG that sell would translate into making MMORPGs that sell. Except for ultima online, I don't recall any good MMORPG with solo RPG roots.

So what? ME could be made into spin-offs but if the MMO and DA2 are any indication of the current quality level of Bioware is currently working at (and it is), then EA is likely to liquidate Bioware like it has done in the past. Somehow, I can't feel any sympathy for Bioware.

Details, details. It's so far the only IP that Bio has that's not been hit by bad press recently - or in foreseeable near future. I do share your views on it, but I'm looking at it from the point of view of "press image" - compared to the DA2 fiasco and the brewing TOR shitstorm, ME is a pretty wholesome franchise that might get multi-genre spin-offs. Not so with DA, and I don't see a bright future in store for TOR either apart from, well, it paying for itself and having a brief (by modern MMO standards) period of massive income.

And yeah, I finally played the supposedly cool Mass Effect 2 recently and should probably post my thoughts on it some time seeing as I had quite a few of those.

Of course being a third person shooter had nothing to do with its sales. I mean, if BioWare made Mass Effect an isometric turn-based RPG it would have sold just as much.

Yep.
