Silmar, a roguelike game written in Java that features graphics, has been updated to version 2.0.1 for those interested in giving this $10 shareware dungeon romp a whirl. No idea what the changes are in this version from the last one, since I can't find a changelog anywhere on the site, so here's some thumbnails in place of the list of changes:

And the author's summary:

Battle your way through the dungeon levels underneath the razed tower of the evil archmage Syrilboltus, questing for riches with which to rebuild your devastated homelands. Use the powers you acquire as you gain experience to avoid or defeat the foes you encounter along the way. With randomly generated levels (accompanied by occasional fixed levels), no two games are the same!

Remember kids, when you burn down an evil wizard's tower, it's the basement parts that are the most important parts.
