The latest from Soldak Entertainment is an old school top-down oblique angle hack-n-slash. When I say hack-n-slash I really mean it. There’s nothing in the way of RPG per se. You don’t really interact with NPC’s. Those interactions don’t dictate the outcome of the game. No, this is simply a “you versus them.” So grab up your weapon, buff up your character and let’s start dungeon delving in Kivi’s Underworld.

Over time you’ll delve through the dungeons and lost cities of myth and start amassing a group of friends. This is not an ordinary RPG/HNS where you then create a party. No, every level is just you with one character slicing, dicing and yes, hacking and slashing, your way through hordes of undead, evil elves and terrible traps.

There are tons of other cool things, like the graphics themselves, to keep you entertained though. The graphics have depth and are robust. At times I would zoom in just to check out some detail on something. This is what I’m coming to expect from Soldak though as Depths of Peril had some seriously intricate and lush environments as well. It’s almost as if they secretly pride themselves on cool environments that don’t require a $3000 PC to be viewed properly.
Great game, would play again. 8 / 10.
