I've been out of space simming for some time now and I'm looking for som recommendations on current or up and coming freefrom "elite-like" games. The only series I know of are the X1-3. Any others?

There was Freelancer a couple of years ago, but it was dissapointingly light. Even older, hardwar?

Hardwars a great game, played the hell out of that. A little buggy as far as the main quest goes if I remember correctly.

i hated the x2-x3 for lack of bbs missions, moreso especially x3. i've never played elite, but i guess in the space type games, with trading, combat, etc etc, i've been enjoying space rangers 2. it's more freeform than the x games or freelancer (in fact, there isn't even a main quest.)

Space Rangers FTW. It's not as pure as X-series in that respect, though.

How I whish I had liked Space Rangers 2.
Something about the story/seting and the way flight/combat was handled completely put me off. I still recognize it's likely a great game for a lot of people.
