We're gonna get a quest from the shrine:

The priestess, dressed in silken robes, and wearing a wreath of oak leaves, says, ‘I have need of an adventurer like yourself. For arcane reasons involving the secret mysteries of Lacuna, I need the tusk of a boar. A were-boar, in fact. I believe they can be found in the Forest of the Forsaken, in northern Golnir. Hunt down a were-boar, and bring me a boar’s tusk. In return I will teach you how to be a better scout.’

The Forest of the Forsaken is east of the Haunted Hills on the northern continent. We're on the Isle of Druids, slightly east of the northern continent.

Also, we can become an initiate of Lacuna and get her blessing. Yes/no?

Let's also do the forest:

The trees are closely packed, leaning together as if in conference, whispering quietly among themselves. Birds twitter in the distance, and slivers of sunlight lance down through the musty gloom.

As you proceed along a forest track, you think you hear a rustling in the bushes. Later, you spot a shadowy figure darting through the trees – or was it your imagination? An animal snuffling sound right behind you makes you spin round, but there is nothing there.

We fail a scouting roll. Troubadors apparently can't see worth shit.

Soon you realize you are completely lost in this strange, magical forest. You wander around for days, barely able to find enough food and water. Lose 4 Stamina points. If you still live, you eventually stagger out of the forest to the coast.

You make your way around the coast. The interior of the island appears to be heavily forested. After a while, however, you come to a bay in which a couple of ships are anchored. A small settlement nestles on the beach, and you make your way towards it.

And we're back at the village.

Back up the hill, then, I suppose.

A narrow path leads up the hill, the top of which is crowned with a circle of large obsidian standing stones, hewn from solid rock. Despite the bitter wind that blows across these hills, the stones are unweathered and seem but newly lain. They form three archways, each carved with mystic symbols and runes of power.

There are three stone gates engraved with ancient runes. Each gate is marked with a name – Yellowport, Marlock City, and Wishport. From here, you can see the coast and the whole island, which is heavily forested.

Explore the coastline - we did this
Head into the forest - we could hope for better dice
Step through the Yellowport arch - turn to 8
Step through the Marlock City arch - turn to 180
Step through the Wishport arch - turn to 330

also we now have 5/9 stamina, so maybe we should hit the inn first

I say we don't start worshipping a tree-hugging goddess. Also, let's rest at the inn if we have enough money and then leave for Marlock City.

It's only a shard per hitpoint to rest, so we rest for 4 days. We're at 9/9 health with 12 shards.

Our scouting is at 2, and the forest requires a scouting difficulty roll of 10, meaning we'll never get into it without leveling up a bit first.

No grind ? are you sure this is an RPG ? Is this one of those new wave "no combat" rpgEES ? If yes, then :salute: , :honourblade: and stuff. Quest away then. How about through the Wishport arch ? page 330 sounds xtreme.

Blessings are nice because they give you a reroll (once, until you get reblessed) for that skill. But with a scouting of 2, not even a reroll would help us (and that's what the blessing of lacuna does for you).

I say: Yellowport.

330 it is then.

You step through the archway. Immediately the symbols on the stone begin to glow with red-hot energy; your hair stands on end and your body tingles. A crackling nimbus of blue-white force engulfs you, the sky darkens and rumbles, thunder and lightning crash and leap across the heavens. Suddenly, your vision fades, and everything goes black.

When your sight returns, moments later, you find yourself at the gates of Wishport. You join the throng of merchants and peasants making their way into the city.

Wishport is a picturesque town set at the back of a bay rimmed by white cliffs. Fish, oil, dyes and other commodities are packed here for transport inland. You can buy a town house here for 100 Shards. If you decide to, cross off the money and put a tick in the box by the town house option.

We have 12 shards.

Let's visit the Three Fortunes. Luck is something we're going to need in the future.

Merchant's Guild:

The merchants’ guild in Wishport is too small to trade on behalf of its clients, but at least you can bank money here for safe keeping.

We only have 12 shards :(

Temple of the Three Fortunes:

The Three Fortunes are the goddesses of fate, who weave the tapestry of all men’s lives. Their temple is a high-ceilinged edifice dimly illuminated by three altar candles.

We can become an initiate if you want, or:

Visit the market turn to 302
Visit the harbour turn to 325
Visit the temple of Alvir and Valmir turn to 4
Leave Wishport turn to 142

Do we have to do anything to become an initiate ?
