Has anyone compared high, mid, and/or low charisma runs?

I've been doing low charisma runs mostly, there are only a couple times I've seen times when it might be helpful. Has anyone found any for sure examples of different reactions/responses/additional info gathered with a high charisma party?

Don't think charisma effects dialogue. It's mean use is bonus experience, controlling npcs, and giving allies bonuses to hit. Party charisma also effects who you can have join the party too. The dialogue skills effect dialogue.

My higher cha character got enough XP early on to be about half a level ahead of the rest and has kept that pace (everyone else has about 2 cha) - though that might be related to her being a surgeon & lockpicker.

I think one person with medium cha & some points early on in leadership can help, definitely. I don't see much value in maxing cha, but then I didn't know about the NPC thing Volo mentions.

My highest level charisma character is 4 levels higher than the rest of the party, as for being helpful, it's tremendously helpful to be able to buff the max hit across all rangers and keep them from going apeshit, at my current cha level(9) I almost never have to worry about the party being too split up.

All or nothing stat just like Leadership skill imo, 10-10 or play without companions.
There is no tactics or precision to be had even if your guys have 20% chance to go berserk.

As for checks, I went Highpool, and from all NPCs I ever met up to LA only these came with me:
Deth
Ralphy
Miner guy
Chisel

Most others said I am ugly or lack that "special aura". So if you want to roll with big party, which probably would be a lot easier than team of specialist like I have (another guy/gal with assault rifle is always welcome) add someone with high CHA to party.

Hey that's interesting, I actually have a single high charisma character (8) and haven't run across the too ugly line. So it doesn't take much apparently to be able to recruit almost anyone.

Slightly off-topic, but I was very disappointed with the high CHA companion. You have to seriously gimp your group just to get her and then when you finally do you're treated with by far the worst character art in the game. Her portrait is such low quality compared to the other NPCs that I couldn't even stand to have her in my group. It looks like someone just took a zoomed in screenshot of the horrible in game model then spent ~2mins painting over it a bit.

Which one looks out of place:

LMFAO, that's her new portrait? I mean, I hated her original portrait, which was literally just a pod person, but yeah, that was added last minute as I never saw it in the beta at any point. So you're probably 100% right on them doing the horrible 2 minute paint over on the model.
Terrible..

That is definitely a touch-up of an in-game character model. There's no doubt about it.

I'm not sure exactly how the charisma-cap is supposed to work for some followers, because right now my core party has 12 Charisma between them. Does it get boosted by followers as well? because I've been able to pick up every NPC from Takayuki to Lexcanium, and the repentant Monk. I've only just now reached Rail Nomads Camp, and I'm not sure if anybody is going to tell me "no."

Yes. Couldn't talk my way in the Temple of Titan even with super high ass. That or the dialogue is broken -_-

Like with dr. Balm. The fagget doesn't have the normal dialogue options anymore after you visit the hospital. So no healing and no medical supplies from ToT...

I had a 8cha leader, everyone else dumped charisma... I still had a lot of people trying to join me (and me refusing, because Rose/Scotchmo/Takayukiwhatever were better). I don't think any of the later NPCs are worth it except to replace a permadead party member if you're playing on ironman.

I also had 2 guys, the punk and the priest (good name for a band huh) show me middle finger in LA after they walked to my base themselves. I wasn't hardcore enough for one and not glorious enough for another. I wonder what is the highest CHA check in game.

My leader had 8 Cha and others had 1-2 depending on skill numbers. Even with only 2 ass skills and losing some nice XP thanks to being down he was still 2 levels ahead of every other member.
That "beautiful" mutant lady joined my party with that amount of charisma. I had Rose and Angela too, thats helped probably.

Can you, I dont know, change that official portrait into something custom?
Ofc you can, but unless you're an actual artist it's quite hard to find a new portrait that both matches the games artstyle and the character. Especially hard for this character, since she's an ugly green mutant lady.

It just seems like a big fuck you from the devs to have this one special companion that you have to really go out of your way to get, only to realize they didn't even make a half-assed attempt on giving it appropriate character art.

Anyways, I snooped around on deviantart for a few minutes to find an alternative portrait. I know basically nothing about photoshop, but I fucked around with it a bit to try and match the wasteland art style as much as my limited skills allowed. She definitely couldn't qualify as "ugly" anymore with this portrait, and you might have to change her hairstyle if you're OCD like me, but my choices were limited. At least I couldn't possibly do worse than the original.

When the game checks for your party's Charisma in terms of hired NPCs, does it add together the CHA of all your characters? Or does it just check your highest Charisma score or sommat?

Wait wait, the mutant lady's hard to get?

Because I've just got one party member with 5 charisma and the rest at default and I got her in the party the moment I left Darwin.

Huh
That is... weird design.
It was actually a community suggestion that a lot of people were into, I don't have a problem with it personally, but it is a little odd. I'd also like transparency on it since it's said no where, and it's effect can feel like a bug.

Well, 3+3+3+5 =14, so if you have two companions with a combined cha of 8 you should be able to recruit her by most accounts(Of course the game is known to be buggy and inconsistent.), Do you have Vulture's cry/Ralphie maybe? Actually if you had 3 when you recruited her it'd be even easier.

That probably explains it. Had Rose and either Ralphie or Takayuki with me at the time.
