Doom 1 Episode 1 will forever be my favorite FPS experience ever just because the shareware demo was all I had back in the day and I played it over and over. The nostalgia is so strong with that one I could bake a cake with it.
Shit, I recently replayed this and it turns out it's much more shitty than I remembered it. First map is small and ultimately a very linear experience despite the game being set in an open level. Basically there is only one approach to each objective. The guns also have shorter range than JA2's pistols. But I don't know, hopefully when I get to the tank stage it's as good as I remember it.I never played the older MoH but the one where you play as paratrooper is pretty good. You have open levels and some RPG elements. I don't even mind the Nazi supersoldiers. Oh and you get to blow tanks, but this time it's not scripted like in CoD. It's kinda short though.
Actually, I believe Codex is a good place to talk about singleplayer FPS games, since Codex love exploration-based gameplay (Coming in from RPGs) and first-person view lends itself well for such gameplay. STALKER is among them but not the only one. If we're talking about more hardcore tactical simulation games, sure, posters here usually didn't go very in-depth about those games so you can safely assume they're not much into them. From what i tried recently
Rainbow 6 siege
Quake champions
The shadow warrior remakes were ok
Doom 2016 was ok
Cant recommend rage 2 although the combat is great
Any unreal
Far cry 2 but not sure if it holds up
People like Apex legends- tried it but it confused me.
The Serious sam games are fucking retarded
People already mentioned the older stuff.
I wouldnt recommend asking the codex for fps games, everybody plays stalker and thats all.
