What game are you wasting time on?

I consider it to be more of a missed opportunity than anything else. Having to stealthily navigate my way through the Matrix makes sense thematically, no hacker can withstand being detected, but I do mind the IC genocide requirement for progression. I played on hard and there was no point where...

What game are you wasting time on?

Shadowrun Trilogy - Hare Brained Schemes Earlier this month I plowed through Shadowrun Returns after letting the game rot in my library for a better part of the last decade. Returns is a short linear experience, there are two side quest in the entire game, that manages to outstay its welcome...

Descent 3 is now open source under the MIT liscense. Kevin Bentley, one of the original developers, had this to say https://github.com/kevinbentley/Descent3

What game are you wasting time on?

System Shock 2: Decided to replay this one as a PSI user. It has been quite a few years since my last play through which was a Navy Technician. While the major beats of the game were still embedded into my memory time and a new play style lead me to some new experiences. Going through most of...

KickStarter Swordhaven: Iron Conspiracy - BG1-inspired low fantasy RPG From the ATOM TEAM - Kickstarter Live

The demo gave me a good impression so I went ahead and backed the kickstarter. There are few minor tidbits I would like to see addressed. Currently party members speak too much for my liking when you select them. Please let lower the rate of which they respond or mute them all together. While I...

What game are you wasting time on?

Dragon Quest 1 (SNES remake + Rod Merida translation): Out of curiosity I decided to give this game a try after being provided a link to what was touted as an excellent fan translation. Never having played any game in this series I did not know what to expect. The best overall aspect of Dragon...

What game are you wasting time on?

I was playing Anno 1800 but decided to take a break after coming to the conclusion I made two critical mistakes early on. Failing to settle other islands in the Old World before the AI and not specializing either in economic influence or military might. Eventually I found myself at war with the...

The STEAM Sales and Releases Thread

While I can imagine the convenience of launching games through Steam is contributing factor, I still have a hard time seeing why anyone would purchase those old EA games when pirating them is incredibly simple. None of the people who made those games will see a single cent so why give EA your money?

Realms of Antiquity: The Shattered Crown - Ultima-like retro RPG

Despite throwing out tons of praise towards the game I have never beaten it. Until now that is! What I believe has stopped me in the past was how the Hero class lowers the difficulty even further on what is an easy game. Now that is not to say this game is a cakewalk as I went into some...

Crown Wars: The Black Prince - historical fantasy turn-based tactics from Naheulbeuk devs - coming May 23rd

In this case no, after party wiping I was able to restart the mission despite being told by the game I would have to send out a new party. However when I restarted, all four party members were shown as having zero health but I had enough supplies to heal three of them. My "undying" party member...

Crown Wars: The Black Prince - historical fantasy turn-based tactics from Naheulbeuk devs - coming May 23rd

I played the demo for a tad bit under two hours and left disappointed. Sure the production values are high but what is the point when the substance of the game is just a skin of another? Crown Wars fails to improve on the X-COM Enemy Unknown mechanics it so blatantly copied while at the same...

Aletheia: Return of Odysseus - Greek mythology turn-based isometric RPG from Tavernking

The concept of a game set in one of Homer's stories is interesting but I cannot see how one can make both a textually faithful work and free form RPG. The Odyssey, even with all of its twists and turns, is a linear story with a known definitive conclusion that does not lend itself to a RPG.
