He also wrote that hysterical rant when Trump won the election in 2016, screaming about how he was going to lose his health insurance and how anyone who voted for him should stop reading his blog. Nothing about 'his' supposed backstory--late boomer military veteran, formerly a defense industry...

Starfield Pre-Release Thread [GAME RELEASED, GO TO NEW THREAD]

Did they hire someone--anyone--who can write, or will it be their typical shitpile for people who think walking around outside is compelling game content?

Dragon Age Dragon Age: Dreadwolf - full reveal in Summer 2024, Solas fangirls rejoice

Varric apparently being intended as a really cool dude is one of the many reasons why DA2 writing is entertainingly bad - rather than just tediously bad like DA:I.

CD Projekt's Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.0 + Phantom Liberty Expansion Thread

If I've learned one thing from playing Cyberpunk, it's that I have zero interest in storygames without C&C.

GreedFall - Gold Edition - new colonial-themed action-RPG from Spiders

After about 10 hours, not seeing the appeal. Shallow combat with repetitive enemies, very little C&C, sloppy script, thoroughly pozzed worldview that's particularly annoying in a pseudohistorical setting - reminds me very much of Vampyr, where your character invariably responds to situations...

Dragon Age Dragon Age: Dreadwolf - full reveal in Summer 2024, Solas fangirls rejoice

EA does this with every other dev, but not Bioware for some reason. DA:O and ME2 were Bioware's two most successful games, and they decided to make games in those series that were like neither of them. EA seems to think that Bioware can do Bethesda numbers--or Witcher numbers, based on how often...

BG2 is overrated, not as good as BG1 and is not a top 10 CRPG

I agree with this, if only because what BG2 did differently (a cliche-spouting boogyman supervillain, an even-more-special snowflake PC, the gameworld as a collection of well-crafted locations that didn't really have the feel of an interconnected living world, a time-is-of-the-essence plot...

Dragon Age Dragon Age: Dreadwolf - full reveal in Summer 2024, Solas fangirls rejoice

I appreciate this guy being so open about his desire to use video games as a vehicle for leftist propaganda. And from his perspective, it makes perfect sense: alienate a majority of your audience, cram Dragon Age 4 full of politicized bullshit, and if it crashes and burns (and takes Bioware down...

Why isn't Expeditions: Viking more popular here?

Can only speak for myself, but: It looked like the devs were too lazy to shill their game on forums and social media, or they just did a poor job of it. I didn't hear anything about it until a long time after it was released. Expeditions Conquistador was just OK, and had some pozzed elements...

Game about being a hacker - help me remember its name

    Sounds like Decker or Hacker.

Decline Game with the best evil playthrough?

Surprised that anyone would mention Tyranny: unless serving an authoritarian government is inherently evil, I don't remember very many evil choices; for that matter, I remember being disappointed that a game that marketed itself as "you can be evil!" had so little of it. My vote is for the...

    Favorite Eurojank RPG

Eurojank doesn't exist without bloated AAA budgets leaving AA European releases looking shoddy by comparison, and that wasn't an issue yet when Gothic 2 was released. Can you imagine Eurojank getting positive reviews in the gaming press? That alone means a game has avoided the label.

Vampyr - vampire action-RPG from Life Is Strange devs

"Embrace" in Vampyr parlance just means kill. It doesn't mean turning them into a vampire a la VtM.

Vampyr - vampire action-RPG from Life Is Strange devs

As far as I can tell, the only C&C in this game comes from who you decide to kill (or spare). The hint system is constructed to make it seem as if you're working towards resolving all the little subplots the characters have, but it doesn't seem like they go anywhere. Unless you plan on killing a...

Which game made you give up on Bioware?

As a cathartic "ruin the lives of these insufferable shits" simulator, DA2 is fairly entertaining. It was also the last Bioware game where you were allowed to think outside the hugbox, and even a little C&C is a passable substitute for good writing. Without it, e.g. DA:I and ME:A, it becomes too...
