  1. Eternity Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Pre-Release Thread [BETA RELEASED, GO TO NEW THREAD]

Yeah, sure, we'll see how they fare lol, which is why I'm curious. Although I can't imagine Obsidian spending lots of money on translation anyway, if PoE 1 is an indicator: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/72251-i-must-tell-you-what-is-a-game-breaker/ Also a great read on translating Japanese...
  2. Eternity Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Pre-Release Thread [BETA RELEASED, GO TO NEW THREAD]

I don't understand your need for sarcasm here lol, just because people do it before doesn't make a *good* translation from English to Asian language any less expensive, especially for 60 hour text heavy RPG with lots of characters in it. Either Obsidian will opt for readable-but-awkward...
  3. Eternity Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Pre-Release Thread [BETA RELEASED, GO TO NEW THREAD]

What? I never said that it's impossible to do, I said it's very hard and you need to spend lots of man hour (and money) to get it right. Or else you will get 90s Woolsey translation where Ramza yelled "Geronimo!", even when the source material is the most Eurocentric of all JRPGs.
  4. Eternity Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Pre-Release Thread [BETA RELEASED, GO TO NEW THREAD]

i know, but it's also written by Americans using English, addressing American and European audience. Still, nothing wrong with it, but translation and localization to Eastern language will be really hard lol.
  5. Eternity Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Pre-Release Thread [BETA RELEASED, GO TO NEW THREAD]

I'm honestly curious how they will handle Korean and Chinese translation, they're quite ballsy to promise them. Since Pillars of Eternity is a very Eurocentric game and Obsidian has a very modest budget, I think the translation would probably be as awkward as Tales of Wuxia, in which idioms and...
  6. Eternity Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Pre-Release Thread [BETA RELEASED, GO TO NEW THREAD]

Vailians seem like Black Italians to me, there are several races living in Vailia, but the dominant race is fantasy black people. Pallegina's Brotherhood reminds me of Papal Army, but I guess they're secular. I guess Obsidian can do that, I mean, black people in war torn countries in Africa do...
  7. Eternity Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Pre-Release Thread [BETA RELEASED, GO TO NEW THREAD]

Now this really feels like a bizarro Southeast Asia, they certainly did their homework. VTC is basically the Dutch's VOC, but now with black people in power. So yeah, I guess Obsidian can't show them colonializing the Huanas and make them work in plantations like in reality, that would be...
  8. Mass Effect BioWare Montreal's Mass Effect: Andromeda - where element zero meets trisomy 21

Three Body Trilogy pretty much murdered most alien movies for me to be honest, the Dark Forest Theory just makes too much sense!
  9. Deep Strange Journey releases in Japan on Fall 2017

Hopefully they also fix the extremely preachy story and make Chaos and Order not comically evil.
  10. Eternity Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Pre-Release Thread [BETA RELEASED, GO TO NEW THREAD]

They weren't able to implement it, it seems. You only met them when someone asked you to fetch dragon eggs from the mountains.
  11. Eternity Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Pre-Release Thread [BETA RELEASED, GO TO NEW THREAD]

Yeah, I would like to know his thoughts on it as well. Chinese people are still minority in SEA, so it's understandable if outsiders never heard of the term, but locals, their friends, and their families who ever worked with Chinese bosses would probably know the term, which is quite a lot if...
  12. Eternity Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Pre-Release Thread [BETA RELEASED, GO TO NEW THREAD]

Huan-a actually means "outsiders" in Hokkien Chinese, it's used very often in Chinese communities in Southeast Asia. The term can be used neutrally among Chinese to refer to local people, but in practice it's often used with mild-to-strong racist undertones whenever a Chinese person feels...
  13. Eternity Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Pre-Release Thread [BETA RELEASED, GO TO NEW THREAD]

Yeah, I'm puzzled with that too, why don't they put China first based on this chart? It seems to be a great investment, and I personally would instantly pledge (glorified pre-order kek) it if it's available in Chinese for language training. Not to mention that translation between simplified and...
  14. Eternity Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Pre-Release Thread [BETA RELEASED, GO TO NEW THREAD]

Last I checked their games are full of MMOs with skimpy girls and a certain twitchy, hyper-competitive, micro-management simulator involving humans and two aliens, but you're right, if there's a place to start expanding to Asia, I guess Korea is a place to start.
  15. Eternity Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Pre-Release Thread [BETA RELEASED, GO TO NEW THREAD]

Whoops, I forgot that the campaign is still running and people are looking closely for updates. Sorry :D Oh yeah, that makes sense, I guess... Koreans seem to be most receptive to Western products after all :)
