  • I live near him and do my best to take care of him but ofc he is independent and ornery. Hes the greatest man I've ever known and the idea that a fucking Chinese virus finally Carrie's him off is almost too much to bear.

I hope you and yours stay safe and stay healthy.

Just check in on him and make sure that he is stocked on essentials, including any prescriptions. Let him know to contact you if he needs anything. And let him know how important he's been to you. It's something we don't share enough. Though it sounds as if he'll be dismissive, I'm sure he'll reflect upon it after the fact.

And upon you and yours, as well. I'll keep you both in my prayers.
"No arguments on the Silents though, my fathers 78 and I'm fortunate to have someone with his values to have raised me."

My dad is 85. I am also fortunate. We will never see their like again. It's why I'm freaking the fuck out and trying to protect him despite himself. He doesn't want to distance or isolate and I cant make him.

Amen, brother. I feel for those without bonds to their fathers. We are blessed with some of the last great men. My father is taking precautions but has made peace with what may come. I am more concerned about him than he is right now.
Consider changing your handle to Johnny Pneumonic? It would be more thematically appropriate.

Never! I'm bucking the theme. Call it "post-modern" if you must. I can not -- nay -- WILL NOT deny who I am.
