Sorry, I've been away. I just didn't feel like posting much anymore, and right now, I have an abdominal infection I'm trying to get over. But I have been attempting to play through Black Parade, and so far, aside from the second mission ("Where Old Faces Fade"), I'm not overly impressed...

The Perdurance: Such an annoying mission: godlike monsters, VERY few options to defend yourself, it's like Into the Odd's Mechanist-themed little brother (despite the nice, tense atmosphere). For masochists and die-hard survival horror fans only.

You can say that again, Scrounger!
  4. Thief fan missions and campaigns

I've been thinking about my old first review about "into the Odd," and I'm now playing it (and using a lot of the save slots) to help me think of things to help treat my multiple neurological disorders. I'm also trying to get the rest of life in order, however.

Speaking of Cardia, I just made a short attempt to play his latest (against my better judgment). To cut a long story short, this might be his worst mission ever and that's obviously saying a lot.

In other news, everyone's favorite FM author (Cardia) recently released another, er, "fan mission." For Thief Gold, yet. Will wonders never cease?

Sturmdrang Peak - The last mission was mildly fun, but it's not worth the trouble getting to it and I HATE how you select your equipment. Memoirs of a Dead God - Fairly standard (if highly atmospheric) first mission, but a fiendishly clever (and FUN) second mission.

Some of the graphics inside the mechanist building are interesting and it's nice to hear SlyFoxx as Garrett again, but other than that, it's just the same old, same old...

Beltzer also released a new campaign. Heaven help us...
  10. Thief fan missions and campaigns

Actually, it's a rerelease of an earlier mission (that I didn't care for).

Looks like Beltzer has just belched up another "mission." That's just one more to avoid...

Pretty much in agreement with Cat about "Raven Creek"; it looks terrific, but the gameplay is okay at best (and if I ever see another snake in a mission, it will be too soon).

I thought the atmosphere in "Cinder Notes" was fine, but rather agree with Psych0sis that the challenge was quite lacking. And yes, the different footstep sounds were a bit distracting. My favorite mission in the second batch was "Recipe"; even though it was somewhat short, it gave me fond...

Played through most of "Heist," and while it's nothing innovative, it's a well-done, stylish mansion with a few quite amusing readables.
  15. Thief fan missions and campaigns

Yes, I am quite surprised by how much I've enjoyed "Alcazar," especially since one of the preview shots I saw resembled something from the dreaded "Into the Odd." I really like the ideas of both "The Perdurance" and "The Turning of the Leaves," but I felt a bit turned off by the former by the...
