Anime Atari brings back Infogrames from the dead

But that Atari IS Infogrames. They just renamed themselves after buying the Atari brand IIRC. Or one of them, since last I checked there were multiple, different Ataris who were each different companies who I don't think had anything to do with each other.

RPGs allowing you to invest skill points freely

I don't disagree that it's odd if you get an increase in your combat skill from a random conversation, unless it's supposed to be a metaphor, but putting skill points wherever you want isn't that odd. Put it another way, what's the difference between getting 20 XP, which gives you another level...

    Age of Mythology: Retold

It's not really that strange to go far afield with the design of something, but you are right because I can't remember anything in that game being too out of left field otherwise. Perhaps they just wanted to really hammer home how otherworldly Kronos was.

Is 3D still relevant in 2024

If anything, 3D is more relevant now since people actually seem to not mind PSX-era polygon models too much now. Model animation is a heck of a lot easier than sprite animation, which means less work for indie developers who can make 3D models or even get enough good models elsewhere.

    Vapourware Codexian Game Development Thread

A thought, what happens if you make each individual wheat twice the size they currently are but still within the same amount of space?

    Yet Another Morrowind Thread

Isn't Helseth really paranoid? He probably heard of the Neverarine prophecy and decided he should nip that in the bud right away, because clearly that puts him in danger!

RPGs allowing you to invest skill points freely

A game giving you skill points for doing something important is really no different than that game giving you XP that eventually results in a level up where you can put your skill points freely. Is putting a skillpoint you got from a conversation into a weapon skill really worse than getting...

I loved (x) game. Anything similar to it?

Anything like Lords of Magic's expansion pack? A strategy game with RPG elements going full hog on the RPG aspect complete with dozens of quests. Bonus points if the game has a well-thought world and a moody atmosphere.

Decline The state of physical gaming libraries

I still have discs from the very beginning of CDs, so I wouldn't worry about your games just yet unless you live in a place where disc rot is rampant. Floppies, on the other hand, are a bigger question. I wish games would come on discs again, but let's be real, the last PC games that came on...

Tomb Raider I-III Remastered from Aspyr - for real this time

Correction, people say that about The Last Revelation, Chronicles is considered to be the absolute worst or just a good game that was a disappointing note to end the series on. I've never heard anyone call it the best in the series, and frankly it has too many issues for me to believe that...

    Anime Your Unpopular Gaming Opinions

It's amazing how even among people who claim to be monocled, give them a game with unlimited saves and suddenly they have the impulse control of a teenager who just discovered porn. Here's an idea, if unlimited saving bothers you, restrict yourself. Surely you have the ability to do so, right...?

    Riven remake

It is a very good question, because there are times where people exist in the game world as opposed to being their own thing, unlike Myst. (Don't um, actually me, the person at the end can't be directly touched) This time though, you'll be able to go anywhere, which would break FMV if they allow...

    Anime Your Unpopular Gaming Opinions

That's unpopular? Anyone who can stand the way the game looks likes it, to my understanding. Some time around the PS2 era developers got really enamored with the idea of trying to build up enemies ahead of time as some terrifying foe and it never works. Look at what we made saps the danger out...

    Anime Your Unpopular Gaming Opinions

I don't think there's going to be that much difference in the number of people today who have seen say, Citizen Kane or Gone With the Wind and The Thin Man. If you care enough about films to watch one film from that era, you likely at least have The Thin Man somewhere in your watch list. If you...

Games with an open mission structure

I miss the era of realistic games that would do something like this: A-10 Tank Killer Assault Warrior (DOS game) Delta Force I/II Red Baron Now that I think about it, a lot of flight and tank sims have this. And it's actually quite common in the '90s in general, so much so that it seems like it...
